I'd probably reccomend villainside as more newbie-friendly than heroside. It's more linear, easier and lacks all the annoying artifacts from an age where MMOs were expected to be anything but user-friendly.

Still not as crazy looking as the Rikti swords.

Detention Field can be useful while solo, or in truly dire straights. Otherwise, it's really not worth the trouble.

It depends, I play about that much but most of it is spent goofing around.

As for soloing, you're in luck, this is one of the most soloable games around... though at low levelsespecially, it'll depend heavily on your AT and powersets. Scrappers and Tankers in general solo fairly naturally (scrappers pick it up quick, Tankers are a little slower), Blasters are good too but require some strategy. Defenders and Controllers require some unconventional thinking to solo.

But generally, everything can be done solo by a competent enough player. The Hollows is easy. Of course, old vets will tell you about the days when the Hollows was just as bad as Perez Park, a proving ground for newbies...

Easiest way to transfer influence is to do it in the form of liquid assets- Rare Salvage is valuable and fairly stable.

Farming is probably your best bet, especially come next issue if you have a good build. If you don't get any purples, at least you'll get plenty of other stuff.

Info kiosks are one of those things like hazard zones and mission-unlocked stores that are relics from obsolete MMO design that nobody actually liked, and this was handily missing from redside.

Either someone trustworthy (or too rich to bother robbing you), or set up a personal base with storage bins.
