Kadabra Kill is bad enough, and then you have to fight a Lost boss at the same time...
-
I think this game has a strength and weakness in that it's deliberately made to fit in anything that players can think of (to an extent). There's plenty of freedom... but no real guidelines. Not to mention, the world isn't really developed outside of Paragon and the Isles- we have no idea what Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa are like.
-
So what are you suggesting? That they phase out the Hellions and Skulls? That would be a massive waste of resources and would seriously mess with the fluff, many story arcs and missions would be made invalid.
They can add new content, and often do. Players blow through it in a week and complain about having nothing to do. -
Yeah, the MMO genre isn't exactly a hotbed of creativity. Even CoH has had features copied from it (Final Fantasy took the Sidekick system for one, and of course half of CO).
That said, I've heard a few complaints about the Nemesis system. -
They're also ridiculously expensive. A good investment IMO.
-
They're never going to offer a lifetime subscription for this game at this point. It's unprofitable in the long run, and they know that the players who would buy it are hooked anyway. Let alone one that makes Veteran Rewards instant, that would immensely piss off everyone who doesn't have said lifetime subscription.

You should bear in mind that half the toted features of 'the other game' are stuff that we've been asking for in this game for years, some of which we're finally getting (Power Customisation for one, and we're getting a better version).
Remember that Cryptic no longer develops this game, and copying features from it would basically be ripping them off. -
Aw man, I let my sub lapse for a day this week.

Basically I really got interested in this set when I decided the nuke would be a cross between Full Auto and Supernova.
Given that most nukes have tradeoffs for their power (requiring you to jump into a bunch of foes, leaving you vulnerable afterwards), the wave motion gun might need to have a tradeoff, doing Full Auto level damage maybe. -
Who plays a MMO for the lore anyway?
-
Levelling is so fast and easy in this game that people often turn it off!
-
There's also some costume pieces that were never meant to be available to players and have since been removed, like Malaise pants.
-
He's banning 40% of the playerbase.

Quote:I figured the Sapper power would be best for restoring the end lost in the nuke. And the mortar power... eh, I don't like the idea of laser beams working like bombs. It's just not consistent.I've never liked sapping powers personally; they require a specialized build to do any real good. I'd instead have this:
Plasma Mortar : Targeted AoE. You repeatedly fire your Pulse Rifle into the air, and moments later plasma bolts rain down from above on the targeted location. Energy/smash damage over time with a chance for knockdown. -
Sometimes, the name alone can get genericed- but if the costume and bio are unrelated, they'll likely leave those be and you'll just have to rename your character.
I see a lot of players whine and complain and say that they the rules don't apply to them, but the fact is that if DC decides to take their turn at suing the devs, even if it gets thrown out that's legal fees likely being taken outta the game's budget.
Besides, if you really want to play like a copyrighted character, it's not hard to make a homage outfit, or even a laughably obvious but legally distinct knockoff (after all, they've been doing it officially for years). Even better if you don't make that the focus of the character. For instance, my namesake character has a costume patterned after Gordon Freeman, but blue- I don't wear it all the time, and the character has very little in common with Freeman besides being an accident-prone, butt-kicking scientist.
'Corporal Texas', 'Private Peru' and 'Admiral Australia' can probably get away with it as long as their costumes are different enough, for instance. -
Not that CoH really falls into the 'holy trinity' either. You can compose a team of literally any AT combination and, well played, they can go from 1-50.
-
Generally, for any trial, TF or SF you want as large a team you can get except in special circumstances, like the ridiculously long and boring Positron TF, or the even more ridiculously long and boring Shadow Shard TFs.

Quote:Don't even get started on Disney. When I worked for General Electric, the manual on where and how the corporate logo (the swirly GE monogram, which is in fact called "the meatball" by GE employees) could be used - on products, on business cards, on letterhead, on anything - was a couple of inches thick. Unauthorized use, we were assured, endangered the company's tradeark rights and would be sternly disciplined if done by an employee and vigorously prosecuted by legal if done outside the corporation.
Every major corporation has a similar manual, depend on it.
News stories abound on corporations engaging in legal fights, whether a battle of giants as in Kellog's v Exxon (over the Exxon Tiger diluting the trademark value of Tony the Tiger - which Kellog's won), or Goliath stamping David into the mud, as in Sony Corp forcing a woman named Sony (pronounced Sunny) to change the name of her small town restaurant, Sony's Diner.
McDonald's, notoriously, reacts to the use of Ronald like unto a piranha in the presence of two all beef patties - there is a lengthy training course for people who will be appearing dressed as Ronald in commercials and at company events, and any deviation from the manual on how to create the look, or perform the character, gets smacked down.
In short, unauthorized use of any corporate logo by Cryptic would be subject to legal challenge by the company in question. Indeed, the structure of trademark laws would virtually require the company to take action to protect its trademark from unauthorized use, as just letting it slide would endanger the owner's control of the trademark.
It could potentially be like the Marvel suit, probably writ larger. -
What the heck is Physical Perfection?
Blaze Mastery really sounds like the best pool, it has an actual hold. -
Yeah, you're far more likely to get on a team if you state your archetype and level. Anything beyond that is usually unnecessary.
-
And the problem with corporate logos is that this game is also City of Villains.
It's already hilarious seeing corporations buying advertising space in an amazingly corrupt, crime-ridden, hostile to the US military dictatorship. -
Long story short: Men and women do not understand each other at all.
-
Y'know, I think the best rewards in this game are costume pieces.
-
They're sounding like invented HOs. Which wouldn't be a bad thing honestly, especially since Hamidon raids are considered a novelty nowadays.
Maybe this is what those super-slot things in Going Rogue are gonna be like. Maybe not.
