It is possible.
I know quite a few people (personal friends of mine) that have completed Task Forces such as the Positron Task Force with the minimal amount of people required. However I always prefer to fill to 8 and take 2 of everything I think I will need like Tanks, Healers, Scrappers, etc.

There's no way I'd want to tackle Positron with more than 4 people; with that TF more is most assuredly not better; ideally you'd want a team of 3, that being the minimum size to keep the spawn count down otherwise it can take forever to complete. Positron done with a team of 3 good players at or above the level 15 cap can do it in about 2.5 hours. A team of 8 good players at level 15+ takes upwards of 4-5 hours, and a team of 8 at level 10, the TF minimum, will get their heads handed them in the first mission facing huge groups of level 15-16 baddies.

Posi has no AV at the end so it's best done as a small team.

And "Healers"? Give me a Rad, Dark, Sonic, Kinetic or Forcefield any day over a "healer" empath. Buffs and debuffs rule the game and are far more effective than healing. The fastest steamroller teams won't have any of them along and typically are composed of multiple debuffers. Virtually every character I've ever teamed with who described himself as a healer was a waste of time. I'd take anyone else over a self-described healer.

Getting back to the OP's question, assuming you're referring to the Respec trials then yes, you certainly can do them with a team of 4 good players; I've done them many times. Notice I said good players though; you need people who know their characters and can work together.

Uhoh. Someone said the 'h' word. Here we go again. -.-

All fail aside, you're probably better off bringing the minimum number of players to anything except STF/LRSF. It's easier to find 4 good players than 8 good players, and it's MUCH easier to find 4 players you can rely on to stick around for a few hours than 8. STR and LRSF are special cases because you have to handle big groups of AVs, so you typically need a full contingent of debuffers and controllers to make it work.

I can undertstand the idea of running with an efficient team, minimum of numbers, maximize in skill. On the other hand I like to run full teams of eight, even on posi. I love to have newbies on the team so they can see a steamrolling team possilby for the first time.

I can tell you all, I run every TF as a team leader (except for the ITF and STF) and I very rarely fail anything. With the exception of some DCing and "Gotta go feed the cat" we usually run the full eight all the way. All these TFs are usually PuGs, in part or as a whole.

Some TFs end up being more fun than others, but I have been on Posi TFs that were a riot and LGTF that just felt like work. It's all in how you reqruit and lead the team.

In short, have fun while doing the trial or TF.

The two new ones, the Reichsman TF and SF, also let you start with a team of 4, but I've found it extrememly difficult to complete the final mission in each with very few players.

Generally, for any trial, TF or SF you want as large a team you can get except in special circumstances, like the ridiculously long and boring Positron TF, or the even more ridiculously long and boring Shadow Shard TFs.

Just one small thing , I have an archery / energy blaster , would he be any good on the eden , or sewer trial ?.
Or would it be worth me making a new char for these trials .
Thank you for all of your help .
It is greatly appreciated.

I personally don't see why he wouldn't be. Eden is all about breaking through the walls and fighting that big ol Titan whatever and the sewer is all about working together to get those generators offline at the same time so you can use the special weapons you picked up against the Hydra.

Arch/NRG is a great powerset combo and would contribute to any trial or task force.

Right, let's shun anyone who doesn't use the right code words to describe themselves. My emp is a 'healer' and I'm utterly unconcerned with your opinion on the matter.

Arch/EM is a great combination; and one of the few I know of that can drop an entire 8 man spawn from 100' away. Mine hit 50 last year and was a lot of fun on the way up; I still bring him out from time to time for TF's. I built it as a ranged blaster using Boost Range and avoiding most of the melee attacks. One of the best things is just how end friendly the combination is; I've never taken Stamina and at 50 I'm good for about 4 minutes of maximum effort attacking before I need Conserve Power. By the time CP drops I'm back to full and good for another 4 minutes or so.

So if you want to play a long range killer there aren't a lot of better choices than Arch/EM.

Well, sure! A while ago I decided to do the 2nd Hero Respec with my Ice/Fire tanker- grabbed three people of way lower level than me, and told em that they could fart around at the entrance if they didn't want to go against the +amillion's. At the last part, I ended up with one of them in the final room with me, and we cleared it. Hella hard, unstoppable waves of foes, but that was a LOT of fun.

Sure, it's possible to complete most of the Trials with only four people.
