    50 Natural MA/Regen.

    1. No story at all, it just hit me and it fit. She's my main and favorite character and when we needed a Global name I went with it and adopted it for the forum too. I use many other names on various forums, usually with "Ex" or "Sonic" in them. Character names are varied, no theme.

    2. I'm a melee fan, especially punches and kicks and other blunt type damage. I play games in general to work off my anger issues and aggression. Scrappers excel in this, but I also enjoy Dominators and the more-damaging Controllers as I have zero problem meleeing statues.

    3. Quite simply, I'm an action-RPG freak, and this is one of the best. Going Rogue will answer about 75% of what I'd additionally want in the game, and Staff Melee would be the other 25% if it were ever implemented. As far as what I'd change...well, I'd massively sidetrack the thread, trust me, it'd just start an argument so I'll just keep quiet. For the safe answer, I'll just go with "More powersets and more proliferation."

    4. No answers here, it's hard to pick just one funny story, and I can't recall anything specific I'd call a "great adventure".

    5. I solo maybe 25% of the time, and I'm in a pick-up group 75% of the time. I'm in some "guilds" but frankly I care very little for any of them. I'll get recruited into a SG or VG after someone likes me on a team, then I'll never see those people in-game ever again, so I eventually quietly quit. I prefer to PuG, I run with some other players for a brief time and then everybody goes their separate ways. I have a few friends in the game, not lots.

    6. Again, I'm a huge fan of action-RPGs, and MMOs are the way to go.

    7. Star Wars The Old Republic. The Secret World. Blade & Soul if it comes stateside. TERA, a little bit. Final Fantasy XIV will get a look too, but I'm gun-shy after FFXI.
  2. I see what you did there.

Oldest joke on the (US) boards, actually I laughed a bit because it's been awhile.

Even Statesman said something like "I need to check accuracy. Seems nerfed."

Well, now that I think about it, the actual oldest joke might be about pie.
  4. I just like beating things up. Kicks, punches, a staff, a big hammer, a shield, it all works for me. And yeah, they can be statues Jack.
  5. Ha, and alternatively the giant two-handed hammer IS what I was going for with one of my characters (Tanker then Brute and now waiting for GR to be a heroic Fire/Earth Dom), and the stone fists frankly kinda mess it up. Not too horribly though, I just say she has power over stone in general.

A very YMMV game in general, this.
  6. I love that one emote. Not to spoil it. Now I have to explain what I found funny in a police report, but sometimes those really are pretty funny anyway....
  7. I believe for this issue I'll come down firmly on the side of Boom-Zooka. Although San Fran Disco makes me chuckle, it lacks that important "oo" sound.

Then again, I have a character named DJ Shoopuff, so, y'know.

Seriously, I've never found sonic blast audio effects to be so annoying that I stopped playing what is otherwise a great(and under-estimated) blaster primary.

What kinds of sounds would you actually use for the set anyway? Pretty much anything you put there will sound weird when held against the theme. And all comic book sonic blasters I've seen have their blasts represented as loud and disorienting sounds.
Overdramatic, certainly. Is it the reason I don't play the set? Well, not the ONLY reason, I also dislike how slow and clunky it feels, but it's most of it. Sound is very important to me, especially if it begins to grate. One of my dislikes of Elec Blast is that static-y sound effect (as opposed to Lightning Storm's and Thunder Clap's awesome rumbling ka-POW!), and the same for Ice Melee's cracking, although neither case is quite as bad, though frankly I don't care much for those sets either for other reasons.

No, I have no alternate suggestions. The sound of Sonic fits the set. Being appropriate, while admirable, is however not compelling enough for me to turn down the volume when playing. You'll note that I'm not making threads griping about it and claiming to be a majority, I just quietly disapprove. (Except for these two posts.)

Oh, if only I could handle the audio portion of Sonic to get to that point. So far I've made it 8 whole levels before all that screeching starts to do far more damage to me the player than to anything on the screen.

    Need Name help.

Without knowing anything about the concepts involved: Personally I'd go with Stalwart Guardian and Dusk Revenger, they sound better.
  11. I ran into a similar issue on my Fire/Storm Controller recently on one of these. She's a monster at her natural 43, but stuck in the mid-20s she didn't have much damage. No problem most of the time, but then I hit that mission that requires the destruction of that meteor in Atlas. The meteor has very nice hp regen, not AV level but it was way over standard-enemy level, and my Hot Feet wasn't hitting it AT ALL. I was throwing mostly vet powers at it, as the only other source of damage I had was Char, i.e. not much. The friend you get in that mission was bugged, I assumed, as he did nothing but stand there unconcerned. Essentially, I couldn't outrun its Regen. Thankfully I had the Warwolf Whistle, and he finally managed to Hurl it to death (as even he couldn't manage to get into melee).

I bugged the behavior of what's-his-name, I'm pretty sure he's supposed to help you out. But yeah, kinda stuck there.
  12. I have a vampire Blood Melee/Shielding (i.e. Elec/Shield) Scrapper that changes forms. First and second costumes are her basic petite human form, third slot is a 7-foot Huge Werewolf for a Gangrel form, and the fourth slot will be an 8-foot demon.

My namesake MA/Regen is actually two characters, sisters. Long story. I'd usually stay in one persona for the duration of a mission, though sometimes if I got defeated I'd come back with the other. They both have the same skills, but when alternate attack animations came around I was finally able to make them slightly different.

I have a few of the usual "in power armor then not" characters. Plus I usually devote a costume slot to the travel power, with tech wings or rocket boots.

  14. Ha! That makes two made-of-win posts (Sam's and Arcanaville's) in the same thread, and I haven't even read the whole thing. It even has some good tags.

    Delivers, it does.
  15. Clearly they've HAD it with the MF buffs in their MF instances.

Seriously though, it's the MF speed boost in one (or more, I forget) of the buffs, some people seem to have issues with controlling the character afterward. It's another form of Ye Olde Speed Boost debate.

    I just shed a tear.
  17. None of these are the greatest names ever, I don't want to sound my trumpet too loudly, but I like them:

I'm still very happy that I got Staff Chick on Virtue a few months ago, in preparation for Staff Scrappers or Brutes (because I am incurably optimistic). I figured for sure it'd be taken, considering the familiarity I've seen expressed for TV Tropes. (Staff/Regen is the plan, and I'll get Heal Other too, with a bind like "Tell anyone of this, and SO HELP ME I'LL....")

Also rather surprised, though not extremely, that I got Wind Monk on Virtue back when we had those free transfers. Her former name Dreamstrike was of course taken, but that one was available and actually fits her better.

I have both Blood of the Sacred and Blood of the Damned on Virtue. Both are pretty long so I'm not exactly amazed they were available, but I was pleased to get them.

I wanted the name Silent Force, and it was taken on several servers, but available on Justice, so I snagged it for a Fire/Storm Corruptor.

Relatedly, I checked a few weeks ago out of curiosity, and was amused to find that Primal was taken on all servers. Only the one on Triumph is mine.

Of course, I have a great many characters whose names I'd be utterly astounded to find actually taken. I like digging around online to find cool names in foreign languages, Arabic and Swahili especially have some nice rhythm to them, and they're basically untapped.
  18. Another choice is a Fire/Storm Controller. /Kin gets all the press, with good reason, but this little combo can put out hellacious AoE damage, and with all your control (including knockdown) and -tohit you'll be pretty safe too. Not the fastest early on, and it does take some getting used to (i.e. knowing Fire Cages + Tornado), but if I can handle it anyone can. My Fire/Storm/Psi is a monster, //Fire would probably be even more absurd.

Perhaps I just don't get the point here. Are you going for badge credit? Zerg rushing out of desperation? Fulfilling a rather unique concept? Purposely fighting way over your abilities in the hope that you'll win and therefore feel a high? Just that bored and over it all?

I don't think Smurphy's talking about throwing yourself into a crowd with your team right behind you, that's simply aggressive playing. He's talking about players who jump in and get themselves killed while the team is still loading into the map, or have all gone afk. With bonus points for jumping into a crowd of purples, find themselves approaching death from the alpha alone, then run back past the group and get everyone else killed instead.
  20. I can't think of any set killed by a single power, really. There are plenty of sets that generally I don't like, whether because of bad numbers, conflicts with my style (i.e they're boring), or that just bother my sense of aesthetics overall. But if there's one bad power in a set I otherwise like I'll just skip THAT power if it bothers me so.

For the record, I don't care for Electric Blast either, but it's not because of Sparky. I dislike the sound, the relatively lower damage, and a secondary effect I have to really go out of my way to leverage. Awesome tier 9, and the sleep is nice, otherwise meh meh meh.

Some of that stuff is pretty funny. "Bring wakies" especially made me lol, not the best sign.

Ha, "Scouting" is a good one too. Get the hell back here and help us!
  22. At one point you could simply hover over the enhancement in the store and it'd tell you what it did, without having to right click. For the life of me I've no idea why that handy little feature was removed.

Yes, I *am* stupid and forgetful enough that I have to check everything, especially for the more-creatively-named enhancements. I can tell which is damage and accuracy, and some others I have memorized too, but when it comes to stuff I don't often slot I have to check, or I WILL screw it up.

Some ability to order the enhancements by type wouldn't hurt my feelings at all. A drop-down perhaps, "Show me ONLY Damage ehancements" for instance. It could default to All. Or just that tooltip back would be nice.
  23. I've taken breaks every now and again, once for 3 months because I'd been fired, but yeah, thanks to the various free months I still have 6+ years in.

I'm here because I'm an RPG fiend, action RPGS especially. This is one of the best. It's certainly the best in MMOs. True story, I started this game so I'd have something to do until WoW came out. When it did I didn't even care, the same ol' fantasy just didn't have any appeal any more, and since I've never played the RTS games the lore held nothing for me either. I've tried 4 other MMOs since I started here, and not one of them held me for more than 3 months at most.

The forum community isn't why I stay around, but it certainly is why I peruse the forums. The community in-game however DOES have a hand in keeping me here, if it was a veritable asshabberdashery, like some games, I doubt I would've lasted more than a year soloing.

Yeah r_f, I was with FFXI before I played this game. The difference was as night is to day.

Fixed a bug that caused many critters with ranged attacks to change behavior and prefer melee range, including Rikti Drones and most Mastermind pets.
I was wondering why my Bots/TA's drones were running into melee so hanged much. Very, VERY annoying to have this ability to glue everything in place, and it not mean a frellin' thing. I'd drag them back, they'd either ignore me totally or stay put about 3 seconds. Hadn't played that character in a while, thought it was just the usual pet stupidity I had forgotten.

As far as NPCs go, they may run into melee even without attacks, but they certainly turn tail and take off just like they always have. It's not like this bug has been beneficial.
  25. I get this problem occasionally, but not constantly. It's smooth for a long while, then it'll hiccup and start kicking stuff back. After a few times moving things or clicking it settles back down. The old market UI had the same works-then-not issue.

Mostly on Virtue here too. Now, Friday, I believe it was, the market server seemed to be down entirely. Lots of complaints in Broadcast, and I couldn't get it to work either of course. It got straightened out eventually though. Now it's back to smooth smooth smooth hiccup smooth, as usual.

I should mention here that the above assumes that no one nearby is running something like Quills or that Fire damage aura, especially Quills. If those two are in effect, I have nothing but hiccups. I usually just find another market to use if some jackhole is running Quills, that noise drives me nuts even if it didn't cause market issues.
