Something you've completely neglected to mention, is how those who point out I7 as mostly-red, continue on to say that the grand majority of stuff since then has been for both sides. However, it is apparent that to some, the only acceptable course of action is to utterly ignore H in favor of V, for X # of issues. Only then can this horrible slight be forgiven. I'm kidding. It'll never be forgiven.
I'm sorry, but one of Nethergoat's posts up there, a response to a quote, is absolutely spot-on. There is a victim mentality at work here, and every possible attempt to assuage it will be taken negatively. -
I think the RWZ is a great zone because of that, in fact. I've always enjoyed the "enemy of my enemy = my friend, if only for now" concept. The only problem I have with the zone at all is how the lft engine won't let one side search for the other too.

I really don't understand why this topic keeps coming up... And I PLAY VILLAINSIDE!
[/ QUOTE ]
MOST of us don't understand it, because most of us play BOTH sides. Seriously, I'm not even close to alone when I look at threads like this and go "...wha?" -
CoV is people! PEOPLE!
And Ghost Widow is a sled. She made up the story from the bulletin board. -
...Damnit. Anyone else ever go to click one star, and click the 5 instead? I disagree with this thread and made a hash of the attempt to be silent about it. Sorry.

Yep, spammers aren't that big a deal to me. I suppose if I were the type to get lots of tells it would be more of concern, but I don't. It's just text floating through the box.
Now, if suddenly I get slammed with tells constantly, I'll change my tune. But a few extra a day, if that? Heh.
Mind you, as I've said, I'm behind having all player info hidden by default. Some people don't read the boards or check the site or...well, some just don't notice stuff. -
Your concern is understandable, and I doubt you'll be the last one voicing it. I'm mildly concerned myself, but ChaseArcanum's post up there somewhere was enough to convince me it won't help spammers much if at all.
-
I'm all for these settings being "enabled" by default. In other words, if you want to show off, you have to take the huge step (heh) of disabling them. Just so people won't freak out about it.
...However, I myself yearn for as much info as possible about my characters to be displayed. One thing I never have been is a private person. Quite the contrary.
Wait, am I reading that all costumes will be displayed too? Yes. HELLS YES. There aren't enough thumbs in the world, and not enough up either, to truly get across my consent. -

and also two new badges from collecting the costumes from the Doors

Oh yeah, I definitely foresee my Fire/Storm (badger) running around quite a bit. The Imps do an excellent job of roasting any Tricks before they (the Tricks) are ready to fight. I consider it payback for the many times my MMs have entered a mission to find an ambush at the door. -
Hey LH, I think Daimyo is talking about the Hamidon Costume, Statesmask, BAB gloves, etc. You know, the stuff you can trade for a new slot. You're talking about what we can possibly turn into, right?
But hey, that list is good to have! I'll definitely be dragging Primal out of retirement to try to turn her into a Carnie, screenshotting to follow!
Or a KoA. Or a Gunslinger! Or...this sounds pretty cool, is what I'm saying. -
This thread is rich. Not only are people banging on about teh ebil debs and censorship, some are actually championing JRanger as...what, a folk hero? Jesus wept.
Good luck Ex, you'll need it.
I do agree that when someone hits the "Notify Mod" button, that should be acted on sooner rather than later. Yes, I've no doubt there are those who hit it all the time, and you know, I'm pretty sure the mods know who they are. -

My Plant/Psi offers her most sincere thanks. She also would like the devs to know that they have been placed very far down on the to-be-Subjugated list. -
It is indeed curious that WoW is represented so lightly. I daresay when the average person (or even gamer) hears the term "MMO", they first think of the most widely-publicized. WoW has 6+ million subscribers, yet has one picture. Co* has 200k or so (arguable but close), and has four. Second Life has five, and it looks like they have 70k or so.
Does it mean anything, this low WoW score? Nah, probably not, maybe the NYT realizes the game gets too much free press as it is. -
I find it most interesting that people actually use vacation days for such a thing. I suppose it's easy for me to talk since I have weekends off anyway, but even if I worked then I'd still save them for, you know, more pressing matters (school-type stuff, in my case). Eh, maybe I'm not as hardcore a gamer as I like to imagine.
At any rate, I'm ambivalent about double xp, because now that we have drops that fall as they do (i.e. in certain level ranges), xp has become quite a bit less important and almost negative! However, I happen to have characters who are not inclined to Invent, so I'll be using that weekend to concentrate on them. So no complaints here. -
5 stars, easily. Probably because I'm having phenomenal luck with drops, true, but this is by far the best "loot" system that could've been implemented, imo. So not necessary but SO nice if you choose to play with it.
I'm looking forward to some more powersets in the future, as well, but this Issue is awesome enough. -

If a red name posts in it, it is nigh unto Forever. Verily. Heh, I was reading through this, thinking "Wow, I haven't seen some of these names in a long time. Looks like I9 has brought in...oh, threadomancy."
Bo Staff and some manner of Energy or Psi Weaponry head up my most-wanted list. Also interested in Dual Pistols for Corruptors and Defenders. 'Course it's all just speculation. -
Heh. Being a gamer geek may be slightly more acceptable these days, but the day a 30-year-old scary-looking guy is able to chat up a bunch of pretty 16-year-old girls without attracting the attention of law enforcement...
...may never come. -
True story:
When I bought this game originally back in Whenever 04, on my home with it I stopped at a Long John Silvers for lunch. While sitting there reading the Prima guide (it came free with the game), I overheard these five teenage girls at a nearby table. They were discussing runewords and skills in Diablo 2. Having spent far too much time in that game myself, I immediately recognized what they were speaking of.
No, I didn't say anything. I was pushing 30 at the time, and they would've just decided I was macking on 'em. I didn't have anything to add anyway, as their character of choice was Barbarian and I liked Amazons and Assassins. -

What annoyed me was that I couldn't use any of the belts with the toga without significant clipping. I have a female character that looked good in the toga but the clipping made it look awful and no belt didn't look right.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember right off what it's called - Martial Arts, Cloth maybe? - but there is one belt (at least) that looks okay. It's this one. You're right though, for most of the belts the clipping is horrible. -
Honestly, once I found out Snaptooth was involved, I lost my enthusiasm. For all my characters he's really really tedious, and for a fair shake of them he's too tough to be worth the effort.
However, my badge character (a Hero) hung around Pocket D for quite a while over several days, broadcasting her availability and searching for others, to no avail. After that, combined with the above, my interest was gone.
I am not opposed to the event mind you, it just wasn't working out for me. If others enjoyed it then I can't say much. -
Probably completely unrelated (or fixed) by now, but:
Back when I had an AR/Devices, I picked up Smoke Grenade. (This was way after the famous fix and just before ED.) Solo with it I didn't notice any problems, obviously, but teaming? If I hit the spawn with SG first, and then everyone else attacked, the entire spawn would attack me and only me until I was dead. Nothing and no one could pull them off me. Happened over and over.
If I waited til the others engaged the spawn, and THEN hit them with SG...same as above. They dropped everything, ignored damage and taunts and debuffs, and focused on me until I was dead or they were.
I respeced out of SG very quickly. And then deleted the character entirely for other reasons.
When Archery was introduced, I made an Archery/Devices. Picked up SG. Exact same thing, over and over. Deleted, rolled as /Energy, MUCH better now, thanks.
That "Wi aggro" thing previously mentioned makes a lot of sense to me, because I certainly can't explain it otherwise. Thankfully Devices is not exactly my favorite set anyway, and SG is worthless crap (to me) no matter what set it's in, so no huge loss. It was just bizarre. I'm tempted to roll another */Dev and see if SG still hates me. -
Hmm. I recently gave up on my Stone/Fire Brute in disgust, rerolled her as a Stone/Electric. So when I saw this thread title I immediately said to myself, "Figures."
...But imho, Healing Flames wasn't the problem with FA. Not even CLOSE. Sure, it's ONE of the issues, but not THE issue, at least the way I played. So this change is a good start, honestly it is....
I'm still much happier with my Stone/Electric. Good RIDDANCE to FA.
So everybody wins! -
Heh, my favorite travel power is Fly too, for the exact opposite reason as Amadan. I LOVE heights, and regularly cruise to the top of skyscrapers or precipitous cliffs, just so I can look down.
The only characters that don't take flight are my melees.
Next in rank is SJ, then SS, then TP. Maybe 75% of my characters fly, 22% or so SJ, 3% (i.e. one) with SS, and zero TP. I really don't like TP. -
Someone resurrected this, and then deleted their post. The thread stays, but there's no evidence (that they can see, anyway).
