Quote:THe Moon's Orbit, which dictates the ebb and flow of the tides, Controls the ocean in such a way that The Mighty Nation of Atlantis, the only Threat to his evil plans, can never rise again. The rules are simple, you are to declare something mundane in every day life as not being a Nemesis plot. The catch is, preceding this declaration you have to reveal to terrible truth that the previous poster's declaration REALLY IS a Nemesis plot and come up with a convoluted explanation of why.
And so on.... I'll start us off.
The Moon's orbit around the Earth, I can safely confirm, is not a Nemesis plot.
May the gods be praised, that Fleas are not a Nemesis Plot. -
Hmmm I'll get on that soon enough, no dice or none of that jazz, right? hate maths! Love Freeform Rp

My character I want to bring to this uses Vibro Gauntlets to throw shockwave punches, but he can only use them because he's been advanced chemically to peak capacity, counts as a necessary weapon or no?
Also, we CAN use our in game chars, no? -

Long ago I needed a name for a character for my now-abandoned book. He had, among other things, precognitive abilites similar to Spider-man's and Premonitions was shortened to "Prem" I grew to like the word and use it in almost every online community I join.
I prefer to be called "Premmy" "Prem" or "premalemadingdong" -
It's not a contest, cause a contest would imply a prize, and I don't usually play heroes enough to have any prizes to give.
Okay, To further explain:
Pick A Badge In-Game, read it's description(which is why this'd work best with exploration badges, as they have short, but still lore-based descriptions), you can find them on one of the CoX wiki. from there, design a character on the badge description/name, could make for some fun RPing.... -
Super saiyin's gonna bust dat asss!

Anime is not a genre, It's a translation of the word "Cartoon"
I loves me some Japanese cartoons, Full Metal Alchemist and Gurren Lagann changed my life, and Without Toonami, I probably would have been one of those lame-*** people who 'outgrew" cartoons and game and such.
I only refer to them as Anime when I absolutely HAVE to, It's a word that means "from japan" in most contexts, and not an inherent dictator of content, art style, or anything really, except for language.......... before it's translated, then it means nothing at all.
What is commonly considered the "anime" style is'nt in the least bit a style inherent to cartooning from Japan. I see anime and manga(another word I only used when pressed) in a wide variety of visual styles. -
A cursory glance seems to indicate that that was dressing your existing character off of the name of your badge of choice. My idea would be creating a character based on the badge, and/or it's story. So ore of a creativity exercise then a contest.
Edit: That would limit this idea further to just exploration badges, obviously. -
So, we've got all these cool badges with interesting names, and interesting stories behind them, I was wondering if anyone was willing to join me in Creating characters based on the names, or concept of the badges in-game....

Quote:Well would'nt a Fae creature be of "magic" origin anyway, since Fae are magical creatures?I have to disagree here. To me the Natural definition would have to be closer to "a being with his powers inherent". Whether he was born with them or have to train for them is dependent on concept. For instance, my Natural Tanker is based off a character I had from a tabletop game where he is a big sturdy troll from the fae realm. He could have been Magic origin but I decided that his proficiency with Shield and War Mace were trained abilities. I took SJ as his travel power because I figured it was just his inherent ability to focus his energy and be able to jump that far. What is Natural to him (and other fae) might seem superhuman to others.
I do wish they would have had a broader theme to the Natural Booster Pack, but the extra Martial Arts stuff is neat.
and
Quote:Another more drastic example would be perhaps an alien that can shoot energy out of his hands. Perhaps his whole race can do such a thing? Or maybe for some strange reason the powers work here on Earth on not his home planet? For him it's not because of Mutations (perfectly normal for his species) or a result of Science experiments, but a normal part of his ability.
There's no need to explain Martial Arts, the weapon powersets, or willpower, as they visually explain themselves. Any other power requires explanation from the creator to make them work. The origin system(to me) as it stands works as a sort of trope-tastic shorthand for that. A cursory glance allows you to have a simple understanding of the powers. If I see a person flinging fire, I can go
Mutant: X-men type deal, moving on
Science: Chemical x/green rocks, nuff said
Technological: Cyborg, or he's got some extreme gadgetry(beyond a basic utility belt to me) gotcha
Magic: he's magic, or he knows spells, or has a magic talisman/artifact/thingamabob, seen it before.
Natural:.... whosajiggawhat? hold on, let me ask.
And in the case of something like this, it feels like the origin system is even more arbitrary than it is already, as people can,and do, not really care about the origin choice and just make something up, selecting the origin because they have to.
In any case, in these circumstances, where a character has "real powers" that are natural to them there would'nt be much difference from them, visually speaking, and any other type of hero/villain. How would a character with a Superman type "natural" origin look visually distinct from a mutant, a mage, or someone who was splashed with radioactive ooze? -
It needs to be said that this pack has been officially tagged by the modship as the "natural" pack.
Most "natural" concepts that players had have had to grapple with the fact that the only ways to keep up have been to Leap tall buildings in a single bound, run faster than a speeding bullet, fly thorugh the air, or disapear in a flash.
Not a bit of that sounds "natural" by the common definition of " normal human being with no "powers"" some people just ignore that their character is moving beyond human capabilities and use one of the less extreme looking movement powers (Superspeed/Leaping) or, if they're clever and willing to sacrifice a bit, go with slotted out fitness, sprint, and combat jumping.
That was a common "natural" travel option, maybe with quickness or lightning reflexes, (but true naturals would use Willpower or Ninjutsu :P). Unfortunately, they now had three other powers they could'nt get because they took the one power from the Leaping pool they wanted. Sucks for them.
The Martial Arts pack was for natural characters as spelled out in this definition. They got costume parts that were designed for(but could be used differently) "martial artist" type characters, the most straight up from of a "natural" concept, and a power that perfectly solved a problem they always had, namely getting around without a travel power. Instead of having to loose three powers to get one, you can freely pick a pool you actually want or need.
Hell, look at all the descrptions on the websites and ads, what do they always mention? "and best of all, it does'nt take one of your power choices" It was designed for people who DID'NT want to have one of the powers in the game, but either were forced to take one, or jerry rig one out of spare parts and thus cripple themselves for the sake of how they designed their character. -
Well, I got a gamepad that's not getting any use, and ninja run got me a new form of platforming-esque travel.
So now, I am getting really involved with how my characters getting around, so, I was wondering what anybody thought about making "travel mode" controls for a game controller
My option is the standard "Playstation wannabe" type of controller(seriously, on the box it lists "familiar layout" as a feature). I'm trying to come up with standardized controll systems for
Flying
Teleporting
Ninja Running
Super Jumping
don't use super speed much yet, but a suggestion for it would be nice too.
My major plan would be the option to press a button on the controller to switch from "Travel mode" to "normal/combat mode" with a bindload slash command combo. -

One of the MOre underrated powersets in-game. I love it, though I may be a bit biased...
Anyway
I've observed, and may or may not have read, that Each MMs ranged powers are supposed to match up with the theme of their henchman
Thugs Use pistols- Thug MMs use Dual Pistols
Dark Knights use darkness attacks- Necro MMs Use dark blasts
Mercenaries use Assault Rifles- Merc MMs use Assault Rifles
Robots Use Lasers- Robotic MMs use Laser Pulse Rifles
Ninja Use Shuriken- Ninja MMs use.... bows?
I know Ninja Used to use Bows, and there were issues with that, so they got shuriken instead, unfortunately this kinda broke the thematic resonance.
I would love if Ninja MMs had the option to use three shuriken attacks instead of the bow attacks, or, even better If they got three attacks with the wrist-mounted dart shooter that jounin get in their first upgrade, Good idea or no? -
I just hope we have:
Dual Talsorian/Vangaurd Pistols
Nemesis Pistols, maybe the clockwork pistol shown here
A "Tech" Pistol Set, similar to the tech broadsword and sheild and mace options.
A Fantasy istol Set that has an arcane, etched design,
put simply, expand all the theme sets already available to current customizable weapon sets, to Dual pistols -
Quote:To be fair there's a difference between functional diversity and vsual diversityI MIGHT agree that porting animations between Travel powers is a good idea, IF we had more than one cool animation. That's the thing - the only reason Ninja Run is so popular at the moment is because it's the coolest travel animation available. So, rather than have the devs give up, I'd prefer, instead, they continue to develop cool new Travel powers with cool new animations.
I really think this is one thing that CO got right. The diversity in travel powers is much greater than what we've got, and goes a long way toward creating an environment evocative of comic books.
They've got like five kinds of fly, Agility, Swinging, Burrowing, and then Jumping and running, then teleport and slide I think. They've got eight powers (unless I missed one that was actually different) and five versions of one that could be done better with customizing one version of fly. Right now, we have five. If we had sprints that change the running animations, like Slide that'd be cool, if the power windows were more organized and easier to clean up, I would'nt feel bad about having like eight sprints in a window I can shrink down and put to the side, until I slot or en the one I'll actually be using.. -
Quote:*Ahem*This is a game of SUPER HEROES!!! Not a ninja game. Before the last booster pack we have ninja costumes, samari (misspelled i know), Karate outfits, fighter costumeset, Kungfu Master Costumeset, Stealth, , and with all that we have powersets of Martial Arts, Dual Blades, Katana, Broadsword.... On top of that, we have military costumes with military guns (guns are not powers), and archery (which ninjas also use).
Can we please get more powers and costumes more related to Super Heroes? Maybe the ability to change my fire/kin into living fire form.
NO

Ahem*
I was wondering if it would be possible, both in the enhancement assignment screen, and in the mini Power selection window, to have expandable and collapsable powerset tiers. So, say I'm a super strength/INvul Tanker with Flight, Body mastery, Leadership, and fitness(gotta have it!) Each power set would have the little +/- symbol next to it's name in the mini window and enhancement window, so I could only focus on the powerset I wanted at a given time. Especially if I have a whole load of temp powers and inherents. So, If I want to slot invul, flight, and Leadership to one tray, I can collapse the others and quickly drop in those three sets to the tray, switch trays, expand super strength and body mastery, put in those to tray 2, and be o my way without sifting through all my available powers.
This would be especially nice for People who took the prestige sprints, badge hunters, temp power hoarders, people with all the boosters, or anyone with an overly cluttere UI.
Even further, with this you could have further classifications for powers, like, say restricting event powers to their own set to be expanded or collapsed as the player so chose.
This would also be helpful to my "Custom walking animations as sprints": idea which I'll talk about later.
