Does anyone have a list of the Genie/Djinni winners, and/or screenies to post, from the 21st?

Quote:Instead of adding yet ANOTHER server, I wish you guys take Virtue and Freedom and make them VIP servers, as they are heavily populated as is. It would keep the resource needs down for them as well as minimally disrupting large established communities.
I am not trying to dismiss the communities of other servers, I'm just saying to take the 2 largest server populations that already exist, Virtue and Freedom, and not have them pushed even more to the brink with F2P people.
Or, instead of a VIP server you could have made this new server the F2P server. Kinda like a Free-to-play-Alcatraz!
A number of former members of my SG, who have had to quit CoH for one reason or another, will now be able to come back with their Premium accounts. If this was a VIP-only server, they wouldn't be able to do this and play here on Virtue. You can HAVE your VIP server. I'm welcoming my old friends back! -
Quote:Actually, you can't simulate jodhpurs with the pants we have. If you'll note, the jodhpurs get narrow over the knees. Then, the already tight pants legs are tucked into cav boots and such. There is a section of narrow pants leg from the lower thigh to below the knee which is very visibly exposed above the boot. The "tucked in" option won't give us that at all. Plus, the pants we have which are "tucked in" aren't nearly wide enough at the top to look like jodhpurs.Yes but "Old Blood and Guts" wore his tucked into his cavalry boots. Look at your pic.
You can simulate that with the pants we have now.
The only thing you can't simulate is an exposed "tight pant leg" option.
Now, we -can- get the tight pants leg with either the "baggy" or the "pants" option under tights combined with the "straight" option for boots. -
Quote:Indeed they were, but it doesn't wash. Multiple countries have used jodhpurs as part of their uniforms for a LONG time, including the USA...as evidenced by General Patton in his cavalry uniform with jodhpurs.Apparently under Pants (Baggy) they have Steampunk and Victorian Steampunk.
I think that's what they were trying to sell ast Jodhpurs.
-
I have been waiting for jodhpurs as a costume item for a long time. They are for a military uniform for one of my villains. When the Steampunk Pack showed up, low and behold there they were, jodhpurs, listed as plain as day. I purchased the pack and headed to the tailor to fancy up my badguy, when I found...NO JODHPURS!!! There were a couple types of "steampunk" pants, but absolutely nothing resembling a pair of jodhpurs. I hope this oversight will be corrected ASAP, as I really want to get my character fixed up properly.
For those who don't know, jodhpurs originated as Indian polo pants. From there, the English brought them to the rest of the world, who adopted them as equestrian wear. Soon, military uniforms modeled after riding gear would appear, and the jodhpur would be used as military wear. In the modern era, stretchier fabrics have made riding pants more form fitting. For some reason, English-style riding pants are still called jodhpurs, even though they aren't jodhpurs at all.
Can we have our jodhpurs, please...AS ADVERTISED?
I'd hate to think I spent my money on this pack just to have the one item I REALLY wanted to be missing in action. *sigh* -
ARR PEE! GET YER ARR PEE HERE!
Anyone who likes to RP, who likes to actually play their characters in missions, story arcs, et cetera...and who has a "classic" style hero or villain (think comics Golden Age and early Silver Age), see the link in my .sig for the Golden Age Heroes SGs (and villain group, the League of Sinister Intent). We have a great coalition and things going on almost all the time. We also host the annual Golden Age Festival in Galaxy City, so you may have heard of us there.
No angst...no emo...no anti heroes...just self-sacrificing "great power/great responsibility" heroey goodness!

Clarification, if you will, please...
Above the flier and on the flier it says Pocket D. In the text below the flier it says Gemini Park. Of course, Gemini Park is the perfect place, for nostalgic reasons. Will it start in one spot and move to the other or is that Gemini Park reference just a misprint? -
Grats on this new group. While I won't be joining, I had a couple ideas for character names.
An Irish boxer (weren't all Irish boxers and all boxers Irish, back in the day?)...The Fighting Mick. (YES, I'm Irish-American and we use the term "Mick" without prejudice. Every time someone comes out with an insulting nickname for the Irish, the Irish take it and use it themselves. Gotta love it!)
A copper-clad robotic police officer...The Copper Copper. ("Copper" is an old-time nickname for a police officer as they put "the cop" (arrest) on the bad guys.)
Both names are free at present. -
My apologies, first of all. I do not have much time ingame, so this isn't something I could create and run, but it is an idea which has been rolling around in my head for some time.
There is a card game called "Crazy Eights." That always struck me as being a great name for a supergroup, although I'd change it to "Crazy 8s," and here's why.
Each member of the group could have any costume, powers, et cetera, with the only requirement being their chest emblem would be a circle with the number 8 in it in a contrasting color. Their names would all follow a pattern...ending in the "ate" sound but being spelled with the number 8 at the end instead of the letters. A few examples are below.
Agit-8
Breastpl-8
Cheapsk-8
Cogit-8
Conglomer-8
Cre-8
Demonstr-8
Duplic-8
Elimin-8
Emin-8
Germin-8
And yes, I know there can be some naughty words made in this fashion, but let's all be better than that and not go there, please. Adult-oriented words would not be appropriate names for a superhero, so let's move on.
I don't know if anyone would want to give this a try, but I figured if anyone was crazy enough to create the Crazy 8s, it would be someone on Virtue.Anyone want to take a shot at it?

Quote:Even if he works out for a million years, Jason Momoa will NOT have the broad shoulders and massive chest mentioned in that quote. He's too long and lanky, with more of a swimmer's build. And yes, his skin is naturally dark, but it seems too much so for a northern European having been "burned brown." I'm NOT a big fan of Ah-nold's acting, but physically he was THE perfect Conan. His skin was burned brown as by the suns of the wastelands and Arus glanced nervously at his broad shoulders, massive chest and heavy arms...
Hey, don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of Momoa from his work on Stargate: Atlantis. It's where I first saw him and I loved the way he played his character, never becoming too full of himself as a bad@$$, and always ready to slip in the occasional bit of dry humor. He's just not a good fit for the role of Conan.
Smersh, that was VERY insulting and inappropriate. I had thought better of you than that. This time, YOU fail...badly. -
Can't say I like the casting of Momoa as Conan. Conan is supposed to be from a northern barbarian tribe, NOT Polynesia. Ah-nold, as Germanic/Austrian is much closer to the genetic mold of the Conan character.
What's next for our Conan of the Pacific...Conan the Surfer? ...Conan and the Outrigger of Doom? ...Conan vs the Volcano?
No thanks! -
Or...someone *hint* could always start a chat specifically named "VirtueChat" or somesuch. I don't do much chat, but just remembered how much fun the Public channel used to be on the MUSHes, MUSEs and such I used to be on, back in the day.
Just a thought... -
Quote:Further research turned up this option:
/optiontoggle camfree
"Disable or allow the camera to move independently of character orientation"
See if that does anything for you.
If so, you might want to do an /optionsave so that it saves the option in your default options file to prevent it from happening on future characters.
HOLY KWAP!!! That was it! It set "camfree" value to zero and solved the problem! I don't know how it reset itself in the first place as I never used that command before and didn't have it bound to anything.
SWEEEET!!! Many thanks, Master-Blade!
I think I'm going to go crash now. 4am? Yeah, it's time.
Thanks again! -

Quote:I tried that and it had no effect. After thinking about it, those commands rebind the middle mouse button. It's the right button that's the problem. The on demand mouse look function is bound to it as it is on all my characters. It works fine except it somehow has gained the extra function of refacing the character to match the camera view which I don't want. The binds are fine. I've cleared them and reloaded them both from my saved file and manually with no change.Type: /showbind mbutton
That should show you what is currently set to that key.
If it's already "+camrotate", then I have no idea why it's not functioning that way.
If it's not "+camrotate", try to force it to change:
/bind mbutton "nop"
/showbind mbutton (to verify that it's changed)
Log out (close client to hopefully force a save to server)
Log back in.
/showbind mbutton (to verify that it's still "nop")
/unbind mbutton (or /bind mbutton +camrotate)
/showbind mbutton (to verify that it changed)
Log out (close client to hopefully force a save to server)
See if it works.
Good Luck! -

Has anyone else had this happen...
Firstly, I have all my keybinds saved to a file so I can restore them at any time.
I was messing around with the keybinds on one of my characters. Somehow the "on demand mouse look" on my middle mouse button got the "match player (character) to camera" function attached to it.
On any of my other characters, I can look around with "rotate camera" while keeping my character facing the same direction, then hit the "on demand mouse look" and swing the camera and character around at the same time, keeping the same orientation between the camera and character. As an example, I can swing the camera around so I can look at my character's left side, then move the camera and character at the same time so I can pan around, all the time keeping the view of my character's left side. Now, all of a sudden, my character re-faces to match the camera every time I hit the button for "on demand mouse look."
I have reloaded my keybinds file and have switched all the possible commands from one key to another and back again. No matter what I do, the character keeps adjusting facing to match the camera. None of my other characters do that.
Anyone know how I can fix this?
Many thanks! -
I had an insane sword-wielding cow, Kow Loon and a martial arts bull, Kung Pow. Neither of them lasted very long, though.
I did post on my SG's board that, with the animal pack out, I'd have to create my soldier dog, Sgt. Furry, and try to find the rest of the Howling Cur-mandoes. -
Hi-do-ho, pals and gals!
The Festival is TONIGHT!
Remember...Golden Age can be anything from the pulps to the four color comics of the late 1950s. Silver Age is generally said to have started in the late '50s/early '60s, depending on title and publisher. If your character fits in later than about the mid-'60s, he/she will probably be out of place.
Does that mean you can't come...absolutely not! Icon has plenty of retro duds on hand, in conjunction with the Festival. Let them set up your get up, fire up your flivver, hop your popsicle, or just hoof it on over! -
Quote:Ahhh... If you had said the theme was "a masquerade ball" it would have been less confusing. With it stated as "Masquerade" (note the capitalization, as a proper name such as the title of a book or movie), it was very hard to tell.If it was vampire I would have identified it as such. It is Masquerade as in a costume ball.
Thanks for the clarification. -

By the way, welcome to Virtue. Don't carry any opened cans of cat food, tuna, or such in your pockets. The catgirls WILL steal your pants.
You may also want to hang out under the Atlas statue in AP. There is plenty of ARR PEE around there, much of the time. -
Nothing?
Anybody?
Is this thing on? *tap tap*
Am I the only one to whom this is happening? -
