Quote:If you've absolutely never run into any issues whatsoever, then it is reasonable to assume you prefer soloing or are a sideline scrapper in groups. Why? Because an IO'ed out EA that didn't build for Psi defense will only have around 18% Psionic defense (Weave, CJ, Maneuvers, 2x +3% defense procs) which will be eaten through when you jump into a bunch of +2 hard-hitting psi mobs.I don't know why you would make that kind of assumption out of the blue having never played with me, but that is the kind of thing people here do for whatever reason.
Quote:Maybe he doesn't want to push himself. That's the best part about the game: you can play at whatever's fun for you. Besides, if you're (apparently) masochistic enough to willingly do Carnies/Arachnos at ultra-high difficulties without making allowances... well, I sure wouldn't.
Again, EA has some great tools and is very attractive for leveling. But sets like SR pull ahead in the end, where you can soft-cap all positions easily without holes and have Rebirth Destiny for your heal. -
Quote:Yeah, probably not pushing yourself far enough.I here people say the same thing about Inv and I just have never had this problem. Then again I never had a problem with voids and no mezz protection on old PB's, so I am still inclined to think this is more a playstyle deal than something truly crippling. Heck it might be a YMMV deal. No worries I'll continue to rock my KM/EA as I have before.

Quote:My EA does have issues with psi enemies. Being first into a spawn set at 6+ players with a Master Illusionist or two, I don't last very long. I don't benchmark sets by trying to solo 6+ player spawns but I usually am the first one to jump in when running with a team. EA just doesn't allow for this when there is a healthy mix of psi dealing mobs. Not as well as the other sets I mentioned anyway. My KM/EA scrapper just does not have the issue you described with late game enemy groups. However, as I learned when I was running an I9 version of the PB through late game content mopping the floor with Carnie Illusionist, nothing is equal in terms of gameplay style and therefore experiences.
Thanks for the breakdown. -
Quote:Off the top of my head,Do you have some comparative analysis to support such an absolute statement or is it just standard forum booty talk?
SR:
-Passive +20% recharge
-95% DDR
-Easier to soft-cap because of positional defense
-Easiest to Incarnate soft-cap because of high defense values
-Minimal psi hole (only psi attacks you won't be dodging are of the Mind Control type which usually deal low damage)
-No toxic hole
Shield:
-Minimal crash T9
-Easier to soft-cap because of positional defense
-Built-in AoE attack
-Minimal psi hole
-No toxic hole
WP:
-Minimal crash T9
-Soft-capping S/L gives you impressive layered defense
-No psi hole
-Quick Recovery
In EA's defense, it's probably the best set to play while leveling. Good defense, a +Recharge aura, good heal/end management and stealth. Hit the later levels, however, and you'll start getting decked by Carnies, Arachnos, Rularuu, Rikti, Praetorian Seers anything with psi. DE bosses will wear you down with their toxic ranged attacks.
You can solve that by popping a few lucks but then that defeats the purpose of soft-capping all the other damage types, which is a hassle in itself. Try to patch the psi-hole and you're gimped on recharge and other areas, I would imagine.
Great set to level but it's not as well-rounded as the other sets mentioned when it comes to end-game. -
It's good, but not as good as SR, WP, or Shield.
-
I'd say Rebirth Radial but looking at your build, it would negate the need for Aid Self. I'll vote Barrier for you as well.
My MA/SR runs Rebirth Radial Epiphany but it's also Incarnate soft-capped (59%). -
Incarnate Trials are the equivalent of end-game raiding in other MMOs for loot and extra abilities. To run those, you must be a VIP. On Freedom server, people form them in Pocket D. On Virtue, they form in Rikti War Zone. Those are the two most populated servers. I'm not sure about the other servers.
-
Enemies in Incarnate trials have a to-hit buff but they do not ignore defense. You'll want to get your defense a little bit over 45% (the soft cap) and pop one small Luck inspiration whenever you jump into a group.
I run Incarnate trials on my MA/SR with T4 Rebirth. I rarely ever die outside of being caught in things that are unresistable and auto-hit, things that would kill anyone else just the same. -

Keep the Tier 1, it's pretty much required to help you build damage from Power Siphon. Drop the cone, knockback in general is bad on a melee. Like you said, it's only good for knocking things into walls. The ranged attack is skippable but if it interests you, take it. It's not incredibly useful but not a horrible power either.
-
Conserve Power pretty much takes care of that. You'll burn more endurance because of higher recharge/hasten crash but Conserve Power will be up more often as well. Hit it whenever it's up and you're good. I did a successful pylon test without any source of heals and endurance was all in manageable levels.

I'd like a second opinion on my MA/SR build as well.
Some notes:
-I have T4 45% Spiritual which lets me permahasten with 75% global recharge
-Gladiator's Armor +3% Def IO - I don't have it yet but 2/3 way there on Hero Merits
-Goal was to hit 50% defense just because (I think the last .3% on my ranged is covered in-game with my 50+5 defense IO)
-Couldn't really fit +HP bonuses, opted for +regen instead.
Feedback would be much appreciated.

I'd rather see it as an ancillary pool. Scrappers have the fewest ancillary pool options out of all normal ATs at the moment.
-
Sounds awesome. I've always wanted telekinetic abilities without all the purply psy effects.

Quote:Intel Quad 6700 @ 2.66Simply stunning. I love it. Can't wait to try mine out tonight.
Just curious what kind of setup are you running on your comp?
Nvidia GTX285
4GB RAM
It's overkill for this game but I play other stuff too. And yeah, this response is way late. I've only recently resubscribed. =P -
I agree, it'd be much easier to cut the recharge time or increase damage.
It's just disappointing to see these animations indicate that you're capable of superhuman dodging while not actually providing any defense.
I'm liking the sound of a tohit debuff though. -
Quote:I'd really like to see this as well. HoB deserves a buff and this would make sense thematically as well as giving it another unique trait to set it apart from the other blast sets. A moderate defense buff for 4 secs won't make or break a set.I'd like to see a decent amount of defense added only to Hail of Bullets, and only while the animation was playing. That would make it a lot more usable without unbalancing the set as a whole. Adding defense in general would be a bad idea since blast sets aren't supposed to have mitigation other than enemy-affecting things like knockback or stuns / holds from control powers. I could see making a special case for a four second defense boost during HoB since it is so much worse than every other nuke, but adding defense in general would be asking for trouble (and future nerfs).
-
I went with Mental manipulation for Drain Psyche and PSW to justify having to be in melee range to use Hail of Bullets. Doesn't really make sense for it to be a PBAoE and only do RoA levels of damage all while having twice the recharge time as RoA.
-
To satisfy the people who want Ninjitsu heals, defensive toggles, self buffs in the set or whatever on their blasters, we might as well push for a Martial Arts themed Ancillary pool while we're at it =P
Those belong there at least. -
/signed but just call it combat training. Devices doesn't follow the "manipulation" name theme, martial arts shouldn't either. Also, I see people suggesting defensive powers, which is a big nono for blaster secondaries.

Here's a ninja run video I cooked up in HD and everything. Hope you enjoy it.

Really like your work, Cashoo. First time ever posting in the Fan creations section here.
Here's my character, Polydeuces.
Funny story (not really), he's a 50 DB/Regen scrapper in the first picture and MA/Shield in the second. I rerolled him because I felt his costume worked better with a shield.
Here's a short description:
An amnesiac Paragon Protector. Crey Corporation uses false memories and brainwashing to control their super powered operatives. Polydeuces is free from such control and does his best to thwart Countess Crey's plans all while wearing the signature Paragon Protector colors to mock them. -
You're still leveling? You might wanna take Thunder Kick or Crippling Axe Kick instead of Cobra Strike if that's the case. You'll do more DPS and you can respec the order later. Cobra Strike is only useful on Tsoo sorcs, sappers, and CoT spectral daemons.

I never put anything on auto. Click mez I usually bind to V and Hasten at Ctrl-4 or Alt-4. Reason is because one of my first characters was SR and I didn't know about the autofire feature so I just got used to hitting it whenever it came back up.
