Ok... not sure if I agree with you but you do have the extra power slots opened now in i19.

As for your friends, the safest way to get to where they need to go is just jump in the water and swim a bit till at the cliffs below where the SG Base TP is and then climb up. Time-wise maybe a min more but its alot safer then down street.
  2. Hot Feet, Armageddon??? - Sure if you got the purples, but I would try something a little cheaper.

Recall Friend??? - Why may I ask?
Combat Jumping, a Endurance IO - Huh? You're a kin, endurance won't be the problem.
Maneuvers - Unless you use it as a mule (like for LoTG 7% Globe recharge) not a good choice.
Fire Imps - While I would keep the little meat shields around, I doubt I would give them 5 slots even with the good set bonus of Expedient Reinforcement.
Transference - Just 3 slot it with a EndMod Set, and use the other 2 for crafted ACC IOs.
Fulcrum SHift - Need acc IOs...

Rest - can't do it, Numina's Reg/Rec is a unique (have it in Health too)

Health - over-slotted, big time... Just take a Numinas, Heal & reg/rec + a Miracle Recovery and you be fine.
    Stamina - over-slotted as well... again, you're a KIN!

Unless you got all these purples just laying around, this build is going to be very expensive. But there are a few places you could get around with not slotting purples (like Cinders) and still have a good build. I have a fire/storm farm troller that has no purples in it and it does fine (+2/8 diff) and I brought her under a billion to do it. Of course while you might have a few billions to spend on this toon, I would think of about saving some cash ( or purple sets) for some of your other toons.
  3. And what type of budget are we working with?

So I will take other powers now, instead of later, and wait for Inherent Stamina Goodness.
I decided to just respec when i19, so I started taking the Fitness Pool... Big mistake, cus Static Field is that important when you're in your teens. After using one of my vet respecs and taking Static Field, my trips to the hospital went back to a more manageable number.
  5. I only take the first shield... cus if things get too difficult, I will go Dwarf.

As for Light Form, I was unsure of it at first but after using it on more then a few ITF and fighting Rom. Well, I'm a fan of it even with the crash.

As for the kb with the human attack powers... Yes, its annoying but most teams are understanding if you're also putting out the damage. Heck, once I was apologizing to my teammates for the kb and someone responded "No problem, you're do most of the damage."

So for the "Do's and Don'ts".... have fun, don't over slot any of your powers, and have fun. There is no wrong way to play a PB in my opinion (ok, I will give you there is a annoying way to play one). As for my style, I play a dancing tri-form pb... switching forms in every battle.

    ice/kin build

Trying to remember my last few taskforces with my ice/kin... its mostly been mass range fire that's been my main problem. Once you're in the center of the mob, you got so many tools available that I doubt a capped S/L defense would be worth the effort. Most times I get killed in melee, its some red boss that's doing it (like on a itf).

But alot of my preferences on my ice/kin build is that... my own IO preferences. I like Lockdown/%Change for Hold IO, so if I got a option I will use it on any hold power for a chance for stacking. Yet if you don't like it, nothing wrong with picking something else. And I never six slot Transference, most times I just throw in a set of Energy Manipulator and two Acc Crafted IOs. I just like the chance to stun, even if its only 10%...

So mostly builds come down to what you can afford, your IO preferences, play style... then the best possible numbers you can wring out of it. That is why I rarely throw up a build for folks that have purples in them, cus that's just too easy even if you get a better build out of it.

At least that is why I chose s/l over ranged. But feel free to tell him if I'm wrong.
Or do you both not really use that power. Just take it for the IO's?

I have a 50th ice/kin troller for about 3 years now... who was my very first troller in the game. She paid for alot of my toons after, so lately been thinking about returning the favor and drop of some cash on her for a new respec. As to being satisfied, I'm never 100% on any of my toons. But I do use her to farm candy canes, since Snaptooth is pretty easy to defeat with a ice/kin (Ice Slick, Block of Ice/hold spamming, and Jack... = Profit).

And I got to agree with UnicyclePeon, thinking its now better to cap Ranged Defense then S/L. With a good slotted Arctic Air going, most mobs have better things to do instead of attacking you. But range, you always got some fool hanging back ready to shoot you with something while you take care of his mates.

But really I've had a build like yours at one time... its ok, and will get the job done. But then, a ice/kin is a pretty forgiving power set. You could make a real crappy build and still do ok (my first one after i9 was pretty horrible). Now I'm dual build, one for farming and the other for task forces and hami raids.

So it comes down to how much cash you want to spend on the guy. Keep away from most of the purples, and you can come in with a pretty good build under 500 mil.

    ice/kin build

Block of Ice - Wondering why you just didn't finish the set (lockdown).
Chilblain - I would switch to Trap of the Hunter.... at least with 4, you get the set bonus of 9% accuracy.

Shiver - Switch to a set of Tempered Readiness and get the 3.75% recharge, or just save the cash and toss in a crafted acc and two slows.

    i19 coming.... remove fitness pool.

Transference - More a personal choice, but I won't slot it with that many... bit of a waste in my mind even for the 5% recharge set bonus.

Jack Frost - Even with the 6% recharge set bonus, I might just gone with a set of Soulbound Allegiance. Likely it be the same price, unless Calls have come down in price since last I looked.

Rock Armor - not sure if the .5% is worth the crafted Def IO, cus you could always put a LoTG recharge global there.

    Fulcrum Shift - more accuracy.

Seismic Smash - Kinetic Combat are costly IOs, so you might switch it with Crushing Impact cus four gets you a 7% accuracy set bonus.
  9. Go tri-form first would be my advise.... cus its best to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the varies forms before you start limiting your choices. And you can always respec later once you get a idea to your likes and dislike with Kheldians.

Or do dual builds like I do... My WS has his old Posi TF build (tri-form, nova attacks heavily slotted) and his normal human/dwarf build (fast recharge, near perma-eclipse) I use the rest of the time.

For controllers the answer is Fire Imps as far as I know, simply because there are 3 of them and they attack pretty quickly. After that I'm not sure, possibly Stoney from Earth Control. He hits hard.

Warshades flufflies also do excellent damage.
If you're talking overall damage per mob, I would agree its imps. Gremlins might be a close second.... but top damage from single attacks, it would have to be Stoney or Jack Frost. I actually lean more towards Jack, since I have a ice/ troller and seen Jack go to town with his greater ice sword.

    So true....

And don't forget, when you're on a team... who are all in those bubbles you provided, there won't be alot of nasties left alive long enough to injury your bubbler. On the ITFs my bubbler has been on, its usually some red boss hacking me down that causes the problems. And while Tough and Weave would help, not sure it could handle a group of bosses you can get while hunting the generals in the third mission.

So if you go solo alot, sure... if you're a solid group bubbler, I would take more of the Leadership pool or something else to help the group.

As for the 300 mil, get guide and learn the play the markets. A little extra hour or two a week and you can easily double your money. Merits... a little extra work and you can start getting enough for some reward rolls. Lately on the server I play on, we been running Hami raids twice a week.

I'm planning to spend around like 300mil for him so my Question is will the addition of tough and weave kill my stamina?
Possible, since we don't know your slotting. Actually I would go with only Weave, since your bubble gives defense too. You could also not take Tough & Weave, since you have PFF (I hope). If a mob gets tough, hit PFF and use the med pool self heal before getting back into the fight. That's what I do with my bubbler, and I won't be taking Tough and Weave when i19 comes out.
  13. Here is my try.... while I don't have a kin/psy blast, I do have a kin/ice and a ta/psy blast fenders. Now this is a quick build, built for recharge (85%) with 39% res in Smash/Lethal.. I have no doubt you can improve it but I wanted you to get a idea how other people would go about it.

As for Psionic Lance, while its a snipe... its pretty quick and I used it alot on my ta/pb even at short range.

And I likely would replace Telekinesis with Vengeance, since I do alot of task forces with my 50s.

As for Fortunata Hynosis... its a cheap purple set (you can buy the whole set for under 50 mil)

  14. I would advise just go dark/dark as your first fender.... its a power choice that's just as good at 6th level as its at 50th. In the upper 30s, its not uncommon for a D3 to take over the tanking for a team. Shadow Fall + Super Speed, you got a cheap invisibility. Fearsome Stare, tar patch, tenebrous tentacles... all great powers for whatever task force, mission, you need to do. Dark Servant (fuffy), beloved by all for its holds, heals, and debuffs. Howling Twilight, the only mass res in the game.

As for Trap, I do have one... but solo-ing does require some set-up unlike playing a Dark. My Dark can just jump in a room, and start having fun. My trap, needs to lay down his toys before agg-ing the mob.

I enjoy both, but a D3 is easier to play.

Sure FF is wanted on teams with little to no mitigation, but when most of your team is tankers/controllers/defenders/corruptors/mm/dominators/veats/brutes it's nowhere nearly as desirable as other support sets.
I really don't think you will get a argument here about one FF per Stateman. In fact, pretty sure 99.999% of us would agree with you on this point. But as you said about my point with ship raids and FF, you can't prove the worth (or its lack of worth) with a single tf as a example.

And for me, unless it was a MoSTF.... I won't bring my bubbler.

    Quote:
You say overstate, I would say thoroughly state. We seem to be in agreement then based on your understanding that 3+ FFs really doesn't bring much to a team beyond the first 2 FFs and the statement above.
Again, how often has anyone seen 3 bubblers willing to join the same team? The most I've ever seen in one mission was on a ship raid, and thinking back... one could have been a trap fender ( so 3).

As for two bubblers on the same team, maybe less then five times not counting ship raids in the 48+ months I've played. Only time I really remember going for it (active recruitment), was on a team of six blasters. The other time, just dumb luck on a itf, where the other fender just kicked-back and let me do all the personal bubbler chores.
  16. Don't leave hot feet on all the time, nor use it on every mob then. At your level, you really want to use Hot Feet when you get the extra damage from Containment. If the mobs die before you get the holds going, then leave it off... just because you have a power doesn't mean you got to use it.

And as others have said, fire/kins are a bit of a chore to play till you hit 32 level.
  17. Quote:
Some things I do not like:
Hasten - I understand the power of this but at my level when I use it, its an end drain. Its situational and I feel that I could go for something more useful earlier on.
You don't have to smash the keys when your powers are back-up if you're worried so much about endurance. But in the lows, I find it comforting that my heal is back up a little faster because of haste.

    Quote:
Hot Feet - such an end drain, I'm using lvl 20 IO everywhere mind you. I have to toggle it off because I run out of end after a couple fights which makes doing missions somewhat slow IMO.
Buy the temp power recovery serum, craft it... then use it when the endurance drain gets too bad and you're out of blues.

    Quote:
Super Speed - not a big fan, I can't control it very well.
Being a /Kin, you need to get use to that when you're SB. I would advise going to some sort of cave mission and practiced fighting with SS on. That's the way I learned....

    Quote:
Super Jump seems cool but it looks like it may conflict (or be overkill) when I eventually get Inertial Reduction?
You could take it at first, then respec out of it when IR comes around.

    Quote:
Any help would be great, even to 40 would be helpful. I appreciate your time in advance.
Team alot... best advice I can give to a low level fire/kin.
  18. Play the market if you want the cash...

As for farming at 28th level, while its possible I won't recommend it. Now you could merit farm, and do ok, but you really need to wait till 32 lvl. Imps help alot, even give you a reason to respec your toon. Then respec again at 50 (or do a farm build on your second).

Or it the Team Leader knows the player.... I've been picked for certain task forces just for that reason.

A known, known... and that sometimes is better then any kickass powerset in the hands of a stranger.

As to fixing FF, I rather have great defensives bubbles and weak attack powers... then "ok" bubbles and attacks. I like what my bubbler fender can do with a team, even if other folks don't think I'm bring 110% to the table. Heck, been on missions with my dark/rad/dark fender and felt like a third wheel.
  20. I was on a ship raid last night, the only bubbler... once in the bowl, I had it pretty easy so I started paying attention to other non-game things. I died due to AOEs attacks, and my team soon followed me.

So don't tell me a bubbler can't be as important and vital as a team's tank at times. A full team, wiped within a minute after I fell. Perhaps chance I will admit, but I doubt it.

As for endurance drain, try a Katie TF with a bubbler, then without one. In one, you be eating blues by the ton... the other, easy street as you defeat Mary ten times.

Situational, yes... but then no archetypes/powers can shine 100% of the time either.
  21. I have a AR/Device blaster... in the low 40s if I remember correctly. Didn't much care for her in the teens and early 20s, but now use her alot in certain task-forces. Solo, I run around with cloak/SS on... find a mob, lay down some mines then run up and plant a timebomb. Back to mines (at least 3), caltrop them, then lay one more back somewhat (for a fall back position) and as time bomb goes off I open up with auto-fire.

Time wise, I can get out 12 mines before they start cooking off due to duration (so in two mins I can lay 12 mines). So yes, there is some set-up time with device but due to that I can take on larger mobs.

I now enjoy playing my ar/device blaster as much as my fire/fire blaster. But then, I'm the nut that on a respec tf, I like to trip mine the hell out of the reactor core for the whole 30 mins.
  22. The easies way is..... get some help!
Find (or make) a friend to help you out on that mission.

If not, tray-up on some breakfrees... get a shiva (and any other temp pet you can think of).
And on your breakfrees, spent the cash and get the longer duration ones. Then focus on the malta gunslinger, get him out first. Here is another trick you can use (likely you know about it already it but it never hurts to be sure), email yourself some more breakfrees just in case.

Or just auto complete the misson.
  23. Those guys are correct in a way, but not in the way you're thinking....

Emps aren't so needed later on, cus there are other classes that have heals (dark/kin/therm/etc) but folks will still love you for your buffs. And of course, there are some taskforces that while don't need a emp... they certainly won't turn one away. Just be sure to get the leadership pool if possible, a emp fender with tactics is like icing on a cake.

FF... alot of folks are soft-capped at 50, but alot of folks aren't. For them, you be a god send that will make a hard mission become cake. And area mez protection is great too, so you always have a spot on any ship raid (I leveled my own bubbler the last four levels to 50 by just doing ship raids).

So while you don't need a Emp or a FF fender on most level 50 missions (and TF), its going to be a rare team what won't still appreciate you being there.

As to servers, try Justice... join the JU channel, folks are always on who are willing to team.
  24. Need a idea on what type of budget you have, cus a 100 mil build will look alot dif then a 500 mil build.

And you need to use your rad powers, it really does help... cus the debuff will mean less heals for you and more buffing/debuffing.

    I've been there....

If I invite a friend, I got to go from +1/8 to 0/4 to keep the boss problem under control for my fire/storm. That doesn't even take into account the less inspirations drops I need to keep my endurance problems to a manageable level.

    So anymore, I farm solo.
