First off, welcome to the game!
Now, to repeat my pretty much canned response for this type of topic:
There are plenty of players to team with on all the servers, you just need to use the tools that are available to you.
*Use the team search tool, and set your flag to Looking For Any.
*Find and join an active SG with other players that have compatible playstyles. You can look for SG's in your server section here on the forum.
*Join your server's global channels. Again, they are listed in your server section here on the forum.
*When you find other players you like playing with, add them to global friends.
*Form your own teams.
Shouting 'LFT' in Broadcast is by far the poorest way to find a team in this game.
I play exclusively on Protector, one of the lower population servers, and there is never a shortage of activity. There is always something going on. -

There definitely seems to be some odd behavior going on with the difficulty settings and AV's. I have a Fire/Shield scrapper at level 43, and I've run a couple AV missions set for -1. Both times the AV's inside the missions spawned at level 41, instead of 42.

Quote:I give up. I tried, but I have my limits for dealing with people who refuse to ever learn or adapt. Welcome to ignore.Actually, there are 'perfect' (and perfectly boring, repetitious and silly) tactics to deal with these threats quite high up.
Having trouble with the occasional solo gunslinger boss (even downgraded to lieutenants?) Easy a cake. Stop your mission, fill up on half-purple half-break-frees.
It's both easy and incredibly silly. Inspirations are designed to help your character in tough situations, not be a crutch. -
Short answer: It depends on your powersets and amount of single-target vs. AOE damage. If you have a lot of AOE damage, you are probably better off dealing with large numbers of relatively easy to defeat critters. If you have mostly single-target attacks, less enemies of higher levels, as long as your accuracy does not drop too low. I don't like to have much below a 95% chance to hit.
And, welcome back! -
Futurias, I believe I said something to this effect earlier in this thread, but I feel it bears repeating. I also want to be clear, I am saying this in good faith. If you are really, seriously having trouble dealing with mezzing enemies solo on base difficulty, then the answer is to take a long, hard look at your own tactics and how you use your powers. That would be much more productive than calling for a wholesale change to entire AT's.

There is also Protector Watch, which is a bit less chatty (now there's an understatement), but is more focused on Taskforces and badging.
-
At this rate, we might end up with only 3 enemy types remaining for AE: Generic Minion, Generic LT and Generic Boss.
-
I suspect the devs have implemented a series of fiendishly clever bots into the game that just simulate being the other players on all those TF teams I keep getting invited to.
-
Quote:So why is it that I see teams and TF/SF's being formed all the time on my server? Why is the BM not empty on little ol' Protector, if it is so devoid of life on Freedom, as you claim?Well I just resubbed yesterday for something to do while training skills in EvE. Really the game seems very dead.
I play on Freedom. Didn't see server load go above green last night or today, on a weekend. NOONE and I mean NOONE talks in broadcast, I shouted "well I guess this game is dead" in broadcast in Cap, no replies. AE in Cap which was completely packed before I left ~6 months ago had 2 people in it both afk.
Doesn't look good.
Either you have terrible luck, it's all a huge coincidence, or you are wildly exaggerating. Care to guess which one I think is most likely? -

I posted the numbers above, but using unenhanced base damage as a comparison the BS PBAoE only does about 66% of the Katana DPA and the cone does about 73% of Katana's DPA. I consider that a significant difference.

Quote:No servers are dead. There is constant activity on my home server, Protector, and I have no reason to think the other lower population servers are any different.2)Kill a server. Now that the AE controversy hype (and overhype) has died down some servers are dead again and some stayed dead even during the AE "gold rush".Isn't it about time everyone on dead server(s) was/were moved from one to another.Im not saying kill alot of em but 1 MAYBE 2 would help. You neutered AE to urge people to get back to teaming (and force people to work for a living lol) but while it worked for some servers, others it didnt.
Want to find teams and stay active? Stop running around and shouting "LFT" in broadcast.
* Use the Team Search to set your flag to Looking For Any.
* Join an active SG with players that you like and have compatible playstyles.
* Join your server's global channels. They should be listed in your server section here on the forum.
* Become global friends with other players that you enjoy teaming with.
* Form a team yourself. It's easier than ever now with the new SSK system.
* Look for events in your server section here on the forum.
There are lots of opportunities out there. Your success is directly proportional to the effort you invest. -
Quote:You sure about that? Seems to me there is a fair bit of difference, at least in some of the powers. For example:Here, you're wrong. They have roughly identical DPA. This is why their attack strings can generate such similar DPS. The only reason that Kat pulls ahead is because of procs. The faster animating attacks allow for more proc attempts in any period of time.
At level 50, unenhanced:
Slice vs. Flashing Steel
42.3 DPA vs. 58.2
Whirling Sword vs. Lotus Drops
32.8 DPA vs. 49.9 -

Quote:Don't let me get in the way of your class warfare rhetoric, but this is somewhat of a sore spot for me. I happen to work directly for an extremely wealthy person. We're talking Forbes 400 wealthy, not McMansion wealthy. There are many people, including plenty of politicians, who like to attack the 'evil rich'. Usually they are pretty ignorant folks, or in the case of politicians taking advantage of the ignorant to further their own agenda. Most people who are rich are really good at being born into the right family. If I don't get many purple drops, maybe my parents are to blame.
The person I work for built their own business from the ground up, worked very hard to do so, and along the way gave hundreds, if not thousands of other people jobs. Even 'retired', my boss works harder than I do and rarely sleeps more than a few hours a night. My boss still employs dozens of people. They also pay about 300 times more property tax than I do, living in the same county. One year alone, my boss donated over $70 million to charitable causes. What have YOU done to benefit anyone else lately? -

Quote:I got -repped a few times during this thread. For, among other things, being 'condescending' and 'missing the point'. Unsurprisingly, those throwing the -rep around had very little effect on my actual rep number.Seriously? I've not see anything in this entire thread that deserves a -rep, most certainly not because someone has a different opinion.
I get the feeling that at time, those giving -rep aren't even taking part in any discussion, just lurking and get their panties in a bunch over someone elses comment. -
Quote:Or that they're running some type of 'concept' build and skipped the very powers that would help them solo, or complaining that a team support defender doesn't solo as fast or as easy as a scrapper.About this thread and its ilk, it always seems ironic to me that when you get to the bottom of things in these threads, the people for mez protection for squishies are basically requesting it for the purposes of soloing, and usually it's not soloing normal-difficulty content that is the issue. Just saying...

Quote:Yep. Secondary effects for the various Immobilize powers are all over the place. There are some with -movement speed, some with -recharge, others with -fly or -end, and some with nothing at all. That is not true. Some immobs (Grav and Ice, off the top of my head) have the slow effect. This is an added benefit of those power sets, which is why adding the effect to all immobs is mildly problematic, it takes away something special from sets which have it as an added feature.

Quote:*slings mud at Claws*Well, I for one have been enjoying the debate. It's been a lively one, and it has for the most part stayed civil.
It's rare to have a debate on these forums go on this long without turning into a mudslinging contest, and I like it when one does. -

Personally, I get a kick out of all the spiteful and petulant comments that come along with negative rep. Between the folks who miss the point of a post by a mile and those with no sense of humor, it's quite entertaining.
Oh, and +rep for all my fellow Protectorites in this thread! -
