4XP settings for soloing
Short answer: It depends on your powersets and amount of single-target vs. AOE damage. If you have a lot of AOE damage, you are probably better off dealing with large numbers of relatively easy to defeat critters. If you have mostly single-target attacks, less enemies of higher levels, as long as your accuracy does not drop too low. I don't like to have much below a 95% chance to hit.
And, welcome back!
There are a lot of factors to consider. What archetype, level, power sets, enemy types. Low level, you don't have many tools at your disposal so lower settings might be needed, however a tanker or brute at level 50, depending on the power sets and the enemies you're facing you might be able to turn it all of the way up. A defender might not be able to solo at max settings, at least not quickly through the mission without dying several times. The player's skill level also is a factor. The best advice would be to do a mission at the low setting...if it gets too easy, turn it up. If its too hard, turn it down. Debt from dying isn't a big deal to get past at all at this point.
It depends on the AT, powersets and player.
When they introduced the -1 setting, you could hear the cheering from the players who like to solo low-damage defenders.
On the other hand, that bug where you get Paragon Protectors at level 40 in the Manticore TF is back - and I don't care. My scrapper can defeat +5 Protectors solo.
In general, now that supersidekicking keeps the team level range pretty close, I would say you should try a setting +1 higher than whatever you used to use in the past.

I'm playing a triform warshade hero side atm and a robot/ff mm villian side
Both of those do good AoE damage so you're going to want to increase the number of enemies rather than the level. For the MM you might also try increasing the level a bit since you have very good defense but as others noted beware the accuracy drops.
Thanx for the input!
so i've just come back to the game after a year or so, and was wondering about this new difficulty system. what's a good setting for soloing/leveling?
