Oh dear, I have been negative rep'd.

Shame on me for having an opinion that differed from someone else's about the primary purpose of Corruptors in a team setting. People will surely think less of me for not going to topics where everyone just plus reps each other.

Oh, woe is me. I once had two little green blocks. Now I have but one.

To answer those that have already negative rep'd me further, I don't care about rep. That was the point. If anyone one wants to post in this topic about the concept of "rep" as it exists on this message board, so be it. If not, I won't any more after this point.

Same as it was on the other with the stars... a popularity contest, nothing more.

I find it kind of amusing myself.

I don't understand why they even have a peer review system like this. I've never heard anyone say that they like it.

Oh..is that what those things are? Can't say I ever gave them much attention..learn somthing new everyday; unfortunately not all of it is useful in anyway that matters.

Oh! Oh my! *cries, stomps, pitches a fit* Waaah, someone gave me negative rep for posting my opinion about the popularity contest. Along wtih "laugh this off".

See this, ***-crack? It's me laughing at you taking it seriously.

The rep system is stupid and COWARDLY.

*giggles knowing she's peeved off a bunch of people who take their reps seriously*

After all, your rep on the forum matters IRL, doesn't it? *shakes head*

edit: Oh, here's another opportunity for negative rep! DOOOO EEEET!

Yeah, it's kind of a stupid system, especially if the mods are expecting people to use it "responsibly". Because, you know, people don't act like little kids when they know they're anonymous on the internet. Ever. And they don't +rep people they like and -rep people they don't like just because they can, instead of based on the content and usefulness of their posts.

Because that would be (gasp!) mature! And this is the internet, dammit, we don't need no stinkin' maturity!

Heh if I -rep'd people I didn't like, I'd be at it all frickin day. Why bother. It's silly.

Personally, I get a kick out of all the spiteful and petulant comments that come along with negative rep. Between the folks who miss the point of a post by a mile and those with no sense of humor, it's quite entertaining.

Oh, and +rep for all my fellow Protectorites in this thread!

You know, if you really don't care about your rep, you can always shut the option for rep off in the control panel.

Thing is, in my experience, most people either leave a stupid comment or no comment at all (yeah, I've had a couple of these... like a dot in the comments box).

Ohh, Rasta! I forgot about that! Thank you!

Um... how do I do that?

Aw darnit... now that there's more of us turning off rep, it's gonna turn into the popular thing to do.

Rep is a meaningless, yet quite addicting forum mini-game. It's easily manipulated, and shouldn't be given a second thought.

However, if getting -rep makes you cry at night, let me know and I'll throw some +rep your way. Chances are it'll be worth triple the negative rep you got.

1+ rep from Carl Rove Man is the equivalent of 50-rep from the rest of the unwashed masses.

I read it in a magazine.

Oh please don't have an opposing point of view because not only are you going to have a negative rep you're going to be called naughty things as well.

I sure did!

Some of the folks here on this forum are so quick to jump on you when you are critical of the game. Criticism of the game doesn't hurt if it is meant to be constructive and possibly helps the game in the long run. Criticism is a no no on the CoH/V boards! Ohh boy, watch the rep dots turn red when you do!

This thread has turned into a rousing bashing of the rep system, such as it is. However, the OP got tagged with negative rep, as he/she pointed out, for comments in another thread.

So, others disagreed with what he/she had to say, and they used the rep system to voice their opinion. I, like some, responded in that thread. In this specific instance, the OP was not the victim of random -rep bombing, they received -rep because someone disagreed with what they had to say in posts like those quoted above. Regardless of what I think of the rep system, I cannot blame the rep system for what happened. This is like someone pushing you down and then being surprised when your friend tells them off for it.

I don't think this rep system is good for the forum. If someone doesn't agree or like a post, they can just respond with a post or send a private message.

I see your point, I just see the rep system as another option available in addition to PMs and thread posts.

I disagree with whether or not that should be the point of a rep system. One should not be negative rep'd because someone else had a differing view point.

But then again, I forgot that you could turn it off. I only saw the option in passing when the new forums were first launched. It is no longer an issue.
