Quote:You're not imagining things! It happens really fast, but I specifically remember a guy looking suspiciously close to Brandon Routh's Clark Kent standing in front of a window; he's facing away from the camera, but his reflection is easy enough to see in the window. I didn't have time to check if the woman was Lois-esque or not, but that wouldn't surprise me.In the part where the three latecomers are crashing into downtown to join the fight there is a shot where they fly past a window viewing it from the interior. There are two people inside. I believe them to be Clark Kent and Lois Lane, as a cameo. But it happens pretty quickly. Can anyone check that for me? Thanks.

I loved it. The only nitpick part that I had was when Black Widow was riding the Chitari craft and threw herself into the back of the Chitari driver. She jumped too high when she pulled herself forward. I'm glad Scarlett Johansen was in the film but it did seem like she was the only one in the group who wasn't completely absorbed into the character being played.
I'm a Thor fan, and poor Thor looked like he was playing Superman in this film. He's holding back when fighting Loki to offer him multiple chances, holding back when fighting the Hulk because he's trying to reason Banner out of it, or generally used a punching bag to see how tough everyone else is. It did seem like they could have took at least one of Hulk's hundreds of scenes of brawling goodness and given him a moment of strength - not just "lightning to the face!" But his line about his people acting like "Biljstein" and just causing pointless destruction wouldn't make that sort of thing easy - you can't have him cut loose like Hulk without compromising his growth as a character.
That's the only nitpick I can think of. The movie was amazing, and the characters really represented in a relatable way. Thor's utterly devoted interest in his brother's redemption and concerns for the people of Midgard made a marked contrast with the last film.
"Puny god" was a hilarious line, as was Loki's.. everything. The guy was amazing, and I LOVED his use in this film. He got to ham it up in the first half with serious acting, then goof off in the second half against Hulk and Tony. *click* "..This usually works.." *click* was hilarious.
Cap's "There's only one God, ma'am" was also a great line to sum up his old-style differences from the rest of the group. Evans really bulked up for the film. I was afraid I'd be confusing him with his usual snarky archtype in the Human Torch, but he was exceptional as Captain America.
It was just a really solid film with a lot of energy, heart and fun. And I saw Iron Man, Nick Fury, Captain, Maria Hill, Black Widow, and Lady Thor cosplayers at the 3-D midnight showing, too. Makes me wish I'd worn my decorative winged helmet, just for kicks. -
That's something to work off of! Hopefully we'll get some interplay as the event goes on - and a slight schedule to work with for those of us also on the West Coast. Sounds fun!
-
I'm stuck at work, but it sounds fun! Just promise you'll let us know when you're coming to Virtue as part of a live, hosted event. Bantering with Nemesis sounds like an epic CoH experience.
-
Sounds like a fun bit of smashing around. Has there been any active developer participation in the event yet, like Nemesis spouting off some rhetoric as he's sending out his armies, calling out foes by name, etc.?
-
My answers shouldn't come as a surprise - the desire for Valkyrie's broadsword as a suggestion should give my sheet away.
Thanks for making this available for those of us who weren't able to attend the event. Hope you had a nice, fun summit and are rested up for a new week. -
-
Just so you know, your requests have been heard. Both Statesman's Pal and Positron's Pal will be available - Positron from current content, while Statesman's Pal will still be available from "A Hero's Hero."
Also, Sister Psyche's Comrade/Penelope Yin's friend is also resolved through Ouroboros.
We've got some pretty great Devs. -
Will we be getting a schedule for the Live events before this takes place? I'd like to know so I can plan to be online when the Invasion hits Virtue - being in California myself, advance notice will be great for tweaking around the work schedule to attend.
Thank you! -
I'm holding out hope for Primal Clockwork Lore pets. Please.
-
I'd love to see an overview of the events, and when. And if you need someone to roleplay a Nemesis NPC general to add some more immersion, I volunteer! I promise to stay in character and name-drop PCs that are actively fighting.

Quote:This is why you're one of my favorite posters to read.An Ode to Ostumes
On mighty shoulders lay the pattern Alpha
the regimented angles inferring order
is what I hired the cast of intern staff for
to fetch me lunch: a sandwich and a soda.
But on the haunches draping a form more ragged
it looks like hammers smashing random flora
that's splattered freely round the ostume Omega
its rough hewn bits and barbs that posits savage
and when you view and know its frenetic aura...
it should have been more ustomed whilst in Beta

I hope the event still takes place on the 28th. Saturday's a great day for an event for players. Maybe not so much for the Developers, but..

The only change that would get me to leave the game would be if Pal was forced to rename into something else. Having that character name, and being on Virtue are what's kept me around all these (almost) 8 years - the core game is great, but the name and server are what's keeping me from even doubting keeping my sub renewing.

Coupled with IOs, there are sets now that perform about as well as Regeneration did with Instant Healing. But I can still tank Hamidon with my regeneration scrapper - between EoEs, Instant Healing and destinies you have a lot of options to go with.
My main is fairly powerful for a concept build. He's Broadsword/Regeneration, and he's sitting at the lethal/melee softcap thanks to the new Scrapper ATIOs. He's no where near as damaging or tough as some characters, but he's built to fill in what a team or league might need - Medicine, Leadership, Provoke from the presence pool and the hold from the ancillary pool. He's almost got every single Tier 4 in the Incarnate system, with the exception of about 4 remaining Alpha slot T4s. -
It looks beautiful. Especially the titan weapon!

Does griefing your own raid count? I organized a Hamidon raid about 3 months ago and was entirely too overconfident. I made sure we all had EoEs and Break frees, then had our league of somewhere between 24 and 32 people engage in a 100% push. Hamidon really couldn't touch us, but eventually it became clear that merely surviving against Hamidon wouldn't net a reward - defeating the heals put out by his Greens was part of the equation that, in my glory-lust, I completely forgot to factor in. The strategy can work for 6 full teams of incarnates, but part of leading a raid is working with what you have instead of expecting a "one-size-fits-all" approach to tactics.
Outside of that the only griefing I know about is the Kronos vs. Hamidon battle, which was pretty amazing and creative. If you keep the game in perspective random events can add to the fun and epic-ness of an encounter. Or fill your server's end-game "black list." Either way it's important not to lose your head. -

I was afraid you'd forgotten about the 8th year anniversary. Thanks for remembering - hopefully we'll see an in-game event and maybe another year badge with it, if that works out. It'd be fun to see a ton of giant monsters spawned in Steel Canyon again.
Glad to see the respec's not the only thing; it makes sense that it would be announced to give people time to use any existing ones, even if the rest of the event isn't ready to be revealed yet. -
If they're going to do it, then the next issue is a good point to do so. With the incarnate trials finishing off Praetoria's storyline and the Battalion hinted at but not revealed or built up, it would make sense to provide new bases/PvP/MA tweaks during issue 24's spot. Maybe drop something further hinting to the Battalion, but the bulk being towards making sure they're getting the most bang for the buck on their existing tools.
Also maybe access to Valkyrie's fiery broadsword. -
For the Underground, have someone fly and taunt during AV fights. War Walkers' Targeting is a cone or targeted PBAoE against the person who has aggro, so if you angle the Walkers into attacking up you can keep the league from being targeted. This means you only have to worry about one person getting hit by Lethal Force Authorized, instead of the whole league. Note that no one should be flying next to the flying taunter, otherwise they'll both be hit and the Targeted special attacks do stack.
Have someone use Barrier for burst damage mitigation whenever you see Lethal Force Authorized flash on the screen during War Walker fights. On the off chance that there's loose aggro, this can easily prevent a league wipe. 4 Barriers on the Underground is what I usually strive to have. 4 T3 or T4 Clarions alongside this is ideal.
Flying against the Avatar of the Hamidon can leave him unable to attack outside of Will of the Earth. This can mitigate the insane defense/res debuffs from being in melee range against him. Make sure the flying taunter of the Avatar has Clarion and some break frees, or coordinate firing Clarion when they're closeby. Otherwise they can accidentally taunt a leaguemate suddenly and lose aggro.
MoM: During the first phase, if the league isn't used scattering before the rings fire, have a taunter get the Nightmare to chase them around 4 seconds before World of Anguish goes off. If the nightmare's already moving when the circles fire you can maneuver it beyond them easily.
There's a contact in between phases that lets you stock up on inspirations. Use resistance inspirations generously to counteract the rings - 2-4 inspirations at a time can really make a difference and they're dirt cheap.
BAF: Taunters should stop taunting and shed aggro once they have two rings. As long as someone else takes the third ring in a set, the taunter can return to melee combat without worry - one of their rings will expire before the fourth ring is fired. Note this only factors in attention from one AV - two AVs can stack rings very quickly. In general, it's best to juggle AV aggro instead of maintaining it; the expiration of rings make it more accurate to think of it in terms of "3 in a row" rather than 3 stacks. -
Quote:Here's hoping they can cook the Tyrant trial a little bit longer and add one or two more phases to the finale. Go out with a bang! And not just in a cutscene.Heh..... yeah...
And I remember how well THAT went over for Alpha. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. But I'm sure they know that by now.
I see two things that make me happy:
1. "End of Praetorian arc."
2. Free costumes.
