Resistance debuff in Survaillance is bairly enough to counter the attack chain interuption that the power causes. It's great for boosting an Alpha strike, but overall DPS on a bane is pretty poor compared to a Widow.
Quote:Yes, it the long activation times and weapon redraw that kill Bane DPS.I'm more interested in what kind of attack chain I should use to maximize DPS, as the long activation times are kind of throwing me off. -
It's probably because other classes (Night Widows and Scrappers) do it better.
Bane DPS isn't quite enough to beat most AV regen, and they have no -regen to help, and unless you hit the def cap you don't have the suvivability either. -

Number of zones is not the same as amount of content. This game already has plenty of zones with little or no content.
I would be quite happy with one big zone, so long as it had lots of missions and stuff to do in it. -
Patron and Epic powersets are designed around specific classes, so I'm 99% certain that hero classes who go evil will keep the same epics, and villains who turn good will retain patrons. If they switch sides before unlocking patron pools there will be able to do it via another badge. This is the reason for the code change that made patron powers respecable.
Heroes turned villains will still be able to do a patron arc and get the badge, but it won't unlock anything. -
Just got time to add:

If I get into closed beta I was planing on using a Spines/Electric scrapper called Spikey Robot as my test character.
-
[ QUOTE ]
I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but the spines scrapper appears to have at least one new option for spines. At the start of the clip they appear to be straight spines, not the usual bananas.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, BAB mentioned this, I believe you can choose between the old bananas, thorns, or straight metal spines now.
And they are colorable. -
On some of the powers Black is probably indistingushable from invisible anyway, as is the case with some auras and shields.
-
This looks a bit unapealling to me. I have powerboost (Ice), but the recient dominator changes mean that the +dmg powers are far more appealing, with higher base damage to work on. The extra control just feels like overkill. Mud Pots is about the best power.
I can't see me ever choosing this set. -

You're really taking the [censored] now, aren't you?

It's not 100% impossible for an EU player to currently be in the US you know. -

I've designed costumes for my toons with Hasten in mind as I know ruin the effect of it otherwise.
Why create such a massively powerful cossie creator with so much variation in it only to hamper it with a few more powers left over that still can't be changed? Especially given how relatively few of the pool powers actually need customizing?
[/ QUOTE ]
So basically, you are saying that because the power you want to customise (Hasten) hasn't been done yet, no one should be able to customise their powers yet.
There are a lot more than a "few" powers left uncustomisable, I make it around 300, and that's not including EATs, and P/S powers which aren't customisable yet because they are technically more tricky (e.g. Granite Armor). -
[ QUOTE ]
It just feels like a half-[censored] job again, similar to MA. That was even delayed to add something the players really wanted adding, so why can't they do it with this?
They are basing issue 16 all about power customisation, it's what the issue is focused on, seemingly almost in it's entirety. I can't see the point of not doing it properly. There's not even going to be that many powers in the pools to actually change, a lot of them don't have colour effects, such as fitness pool.
Why do it improperly?
[/ QUOTE ]
There is always someone who has to whine, ist't there.
Each power has to be chanaged individually to make it customisable. They have already done 1241 powers. that has taken them around 16 months. If they delayed the issue until they had done all the pool and epic powers, it would have been around another 8 months. Not only would CO be out (even if delayed to 2010) SWTOR and DCUO could well be out as well. -
The reason pool and epic powers aren't yet customisable is simply a matter of workload. Each customisable power has to be changed by hand. Here is a post from BAB which should give you an idea of how much work was involved.:
[ QUOTE ]
Fun facts:
To date, power customization for Primary and Secondary player powers has involved
1,241 individual powers.
which use use 1,620 FX scripts
which reference 5,144 particle scripts.
(Yes, those 1,241 powers are from just the powersets listed in the Issue 16 overview page.)
I'm still trying to nail down an exact date for when we started working on this, but so far the earliest reference I can find is from a document created in March of 2008. I know there were some meetings before that document was made, but I can't find the date or meeting notes from the initial "Lets do this!" meeting, which I would consider the official start of this massive undertaking.
Unofficially, I've been trying to figure out ways to do it since around Issue 11, but every idea involved new tech and a tremendous amount of data parsing...two things that simply would have never happened back then with the size of our team.
Obviously, we haven't been working 100% on this since we started. A bit here, a bit there...time taken for other Issues, bug fixes, booster packs, etc. But we've been working on it pretty focused for the last 6-8 months.

Lovecraftian = interesting looking, in this context. Not direct compies of creatures from the mythos, which would give them IP issues.
Imps, Behemoths an Succubi a simply too D&D-generic. -
There may be a clue to the demons in Desdemona's biography.
It says she can summon an "immensely strong Sothoth demon."
That is a very Lovecraftian sounding name, so maybe we will get some cool demons. It's not the name of any of the CoT demons anyway.
Personally, I like hordlings. -
I'm planning on making a Claws brute in issue 16, but I'm a bit undecided what to pair it with.
I did think of SR, but my main is a +def type, and a few others as well, so I would prefer a resistance based set.
I alreay have a WP scrapper, so I was thinking maybe Invurability, or Stone.
Any thoughts? -
Isn't Pistols and Demons the title of the next Dan Brown "Blockbuster"?

And don't give me any dribble about it being endemic to what they are, because the exact same reasoning can apply to green fireballs or pink ice
[/ QUOTE ]
Bad choice. Fire can burn pretty much any colour. Didn't you do flame tests for detecting metals in chemistry? And ice could refract any colour as well. Red dark powers does seem a bit odd, but the idea is to vary the roleplay aspect.
Now, Khelds do have a specific roleplay background...
[/ QUOTE ]
This is the in game reason.
The other reason is EATs are played by a smaller proportion of players, and have a greater number of powers to be altered. -
You can get some additional ranged stone powers from Legacy Chain Mobs.
Propel Rocks Ranged, Smash
Legacy of Earth can propel rocks at foes!
Propel Boulder Ranged, Smash, Foe Knockback
The Terran of Earth can open up a portal and pull in a heavy object that he can then levitate and propel at foes. -
Doesn't much matter if he isn't planning on exemplaring does it?
-
Yeah, I have the Mu healbot, and it is very useful. Power Sink can be used offensively with Build Up too.
However, with the issue 15 changes +dmg powers are now more useful, so I would seriously consider going for Soul Drain, especially if you don't already have an Aim/BU power. -

be nice if another invasion event of some sort happened from time to time as well , maybe a diffrent faction in the game, is plenty mobs they could have doing spontaionus attacks on zones
[/ QUOTE ]
They do. Rikti raids get triggered by a mothership raid, and the Zombie attacks get triggered by... hmm.. Was that ever worked out?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Crafting a costume slot. However, this one is on a time limit which is why there are still a few people who dispute it. -
You need to get over thinking of the Soldier as a damage AT: it isn't. It's best powers are the buffs and debuffs. Play like a dfender or a corrupter is win, play like a blaster is loose.
