Okay, I will share my other shard gathering tip:
I have been solo farming the Defeat Lady Winter mission on x8 players.*
*This stratagy is not guaranteed so effective if you are not an Ice/Energy tanker. -
Quote:It depends what you call a bug. Is it behaving the way the programer intended? Yes. Did the programmer anticipate this circumstance? I doubt it.I doubt it's a bug. Things that con as even level to a level 50 should drop shards. It's been confirmed multiple times that things that use the GM scaling code, such as invasion Rikti, apocalypse Zombies and Winter Realm Hordlings all drop shards - even the non-EBs. (I personally got a shard solo from a Winter Horde minion.)
The bombs are EBs, and happen to actually be level 50 critters behind the GM scaling rules, meaning they can drop purples, for example. But because they use the GM scaling code, they should (and apparently do) drop shards for a level 50 character. Whether their shard drop rate is out of whack for what they are is a different matter.
Fact is, Rikti Bombs are stupidly easy to kill for a level 50, and have around a 1/10 chance of dropping a shard. The only drawback is I have to wait for someone to complete a LGTF then scramble to the zone as quickly as possible. But if it's still like this for the next invasion event it will be easy to collect hundreds of shards. -
-
Okay, this is a borderline exploit, so it will probably be fixed at some point.
EBs have a significantly higher chance of dropping shards.
Rikti Bombs are EBs. -
Yeah, I'm getting it too. It's intermitant, but I got up to "connecting #34" before giving up just now.
Also, I'm running Windows 7. -
They aren't buffs. The alpha slot functions as additional enhancements. So, if you have Musclature slotted, it functions as if you had an extra damage enhancement slotted in every power that can be slotted for damage. This, of course, includes pets.
-
Quote:You don't have to unslot anything. Consider Suppression again. Say you have is 6 slotted with a purple damage set. You can't slot if for defense debuff, or range, without loosing your set bonus. Now you can.See, that's part of what I'm getting at. So now I can unslot two enhancements from all of my powers. Great, I just lost loads of purple set bonuses. Why would I want to do that?
I get that the balancing act is part of the fun/challenge of this, but the Alpha Slot abilities don't seem complimentary at all.
The nice thing about alpha slots is that everyone can get some benafit from them, but a really skilled builder can get a massive boost. It really rewards a clever build. -
Quote:The simplest thing is to just go for the +20% damage on all damage powers.I'm still not seeing any benefit, outside of the level shift and an ED-immune boost to a single aspect of a power. I know, that's not too shabby. Even so. with respect, the example that was provided to me was a regen/scrapper. What if I wanted to do something with my Crab Spider?
Still confused.
However, if you want to get clever, powers which you would have previously slotted with three common IO (or +3 SO) enhancements, you can now slot with two, freeing up enhancement slots to use in different powers.
There is a huge range of posibilities though. You might go for Nerve Radial. If you had Combat Training: Offensive, you would never need to slot another accuracy enhancement in any power, and you would be able to push up your defense total as well. Or consider Musclature radial. Ever slot Supression for Defense Debuff? No? Well, it is now, and it does more damage as well. Or with Cardiac Core Paragon, forget about slotting those powers for end reduction, your damage resistance is increased, and all your ranged attacks have increased range. Very nice for cones like Supression. -
Quote:Yes. It doesn't work.
I don't know if people have yet tried a respec or level up a second build to trick Ramiel into talking to them... -
Level shift may be in the next slot (Alpha Silent) now.
It perhaps makes more sense to make each slot about sort of thing. -
Yes, Union seems to be broken. Have tried and failed to log on with multiple characters across multiple zones.
Defiant is working fine. -
Indeed, this has been in issue 18 for a while. Repulse also benefits. You can have your toggles on, but they ahve no effect so long as you have Hidden status, and therefore don't knock you out of hide.

Quote:Actually, you can see all three tiers of demon. But the highest tier is only visible as a siluette in the background. it looks - craggy.Yes, you can see two of them at the Going Rogue website on the concept art page.

The thing a lot of people don't seem to realise it is the retailers who decide what to stock on their shelves, not NCSoft.
The reason NCSoft are not producing boxes in the EU is that none of the EU retailers will stock them. There is no point in printing a load of disks and boxes if they are just going to sit in a warehouse somewhere.
And, as it has already been pointed out, buying a disk is fast becoming obselecent anyway. Give it two or three more years and you will only be able to get games by download.
Here is a prediction: SWTOR will be the fist AAA full price game to sell over 1 million copies (and more than retail)by digital download. -
I think the will play up the granddaughter aspect, and skirt over anything else.
Reason being, I think they may want to pick up the story from the comics, and have that character go Rogue.
I would make for a more interesting storyline, and a major character motivation, if her loyalties where to become split between both versions of Marcus Cole. -
This section would be much better if they didn't let in non-EU people.

What more is there about electric tanks that we don't already know?

Quote:Sure she does. She is a European after all.
Avatea's name is on posts made in English, Deutsch, and Francais. Does she really speak all three languages? -
Quote:Exactly. Twitter is full of this kind of carp. WHO BLOOMIN WELL CARES!!!?
I'll sometimes say I'm going to bed, or that I've woken up, -
Quote:In my experience, pets rarely last more than a couple of seconds against an AV.
Not sure if you included the buffs from follow up, but I think it would be fair to average in the use of Build up.
What about the damage that is given off by the pets, I would imagine that they too would be doing some serious damage with a 60% -res boost on an enemy.
Quote:Not sure if these aspects would help Bane do more damage, but these are key factors that were left out. -
Quote:Even ignoring the redraw, this is a painfully slow attack chain. Even Poison Ray has a 2.0 second animation time.
I tend to not like posting here that much about Banes, since most think I am Biased toward them, however, in your calculations a couple things you forgot to include...
Survallence and Venom Grenade w/ the AH -res proc giving a total of 60% -res to all and 80 -res to toxic (looks at Poisonous Ray). -
Quote:OK, some maths for survallance. Let X equal the AV damage resistance, used to resist resistance debuffs.Again, you left out Surveillance, not to say it's gonna turn garbage to gold, but you forgot it.
Your Widow may not need Mind Link, but I bet your teammates will be sad that you don't have it. I guess it'll be good at soloing AVs tho, long as they aren't Psi.
Relative damage change from Survaillance (1.0 = break even):
D = 20*100/((100-0.925*(20*(1-X)))*22.5
Best case scenario. X = 0, using Survaillence increases your DPS by a maximum of 10.54%. Hardly earth shattering. Increases LuxunS DPA calculation to 0.62.
Break even point, X = 40%. If the AV has greater than 40% resistance to whatever damage type you are doing, then using Survaillance will actually lower your DPS.
I can't tell you much about Widows. I don't have a massive amount of experience of playing them, like I do for Bane Spiders. -
You don't pay much attention to what is going on in this game do you?
You might try doing a search for posts about Redraw by BAB.
Here is one from last december for example, from part way through the process: Broadsword, Axe, Mace, Rifle and Bow had been changed, Claws and Katana had not been - they have been now.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...raw#post669159
You can't do precise calculations about the effectiveness of Survailance, because it depends on how much resistance the AV you are fighting has. If you are lucky enough to come up against one with no resistance to your damage (mostly smashing for a bane) then it is just about worth using, but even then it will miss at least 7.5% of the time against an AV. -
Quote:Good grief, there aren't some people who still believe this are there?
EDIT: Also, weapon redraw is a myth, animations take the same length of time regardless of whether you have your weapon in or out at the start.
That used to be how it was supposed to work when the game first launched, but some powers never worked propery, and over a year ago BAB decided to remove the pauses between attacks, and have redraw count. It took a while for the changes to work thier way through, but redraw slows your attacks on all weapon sets now.
This means that Survaillance has an effective acitivation time of abount 2.5 seconds. The duration of the effect is 20 seconds, so using it in a long duration fight reduces your DPS by around 12.5%. Thats not quite enough to cancel the benefit of the -res, but once you take into account that Survailance isn't autohit, and that many AVs have smashing resistance, which resists resistance debuffs, it works out that you are better off not using Survaillance mid fight.
Venom Grenade is even worse, since it has two redraws, one for the rifle, and one to switch back to the Mace, causing it to blast a hole in your attack chain of over 3 seconds.
NB, Widow claws also have a redraw, but it is much much shorter than the Mace or Rifle.
