yeah, many many options and various styles/techniques to use the powers effectively
be careful with stacking up the "location" powers when facing an AV/GM though....
they seem to know to get the frack out of there if/when they're facing stacked LS's or stacked Tornadoes, even stacked FR.....
as someone else said, Thunderclap wont KB the mobs away (like the melee version), so stacking TC + OG = a mag4 stun stack, enuf to stun out bosses. Throw down your Snowstorm and you can create continuous soft control in a group. TC can easily be made to overlap itself, so you can maintain even a group of bosses stunned....
Like Psy said, Tornado kicks off its own stun and can help with your stun-stacking vs an AV. When the purple patch drops your stun stack count between your OG, TC, and Tornado will ensure a lengthy stun affect on the AV.... you can potentially maintain a mag6 stun stack..... -
couple of suggestions.....
i'd definitely make a team build and a separate solo build
personally, i'd reserve Tornado for a Solo build only....
its extremely notorious in chain-pulling aggro on the team, which may cuz a teamwipe or just REALLY annoy everyone including your tank. You cannot control it at all, so the best usage in attacking are in specific isolated attacks. Most likely you're not going to be the damage dealer of the team to handle that effectively so......
some tactics built around Thunderclap (if you plan to get it)
I'd go the Dark Mastery route and pick up Oppressive Gloom - running into a group of mobs w/ OG on and casting Thunderclap should stun out mobs around you, including bosses (if both power scores a hit). Cast down Snowstorm to slow down their stun movements. Thunderclap recovers so fast that you can keep a decent-sized group about perma-stunned.... thats serious control. The recovery on TC is about fast enough to be used on every group.
You can cast FR on that mezzed out group your in the middle of. Then cast out Soul Drain which should easily hit w/ FR -def the mobs, and should max out the power's damage buff for you (whats that like +105% or something for 30secs?). Hit aim and cast Ice Storm, then Blizzard. Hello blaster-like, and more nuking damage! Hit a blue and hit Dark Consumption before mobs fully die.... voila
Freezing Rain - slot that up for recharge and damage procs. The -resist in FR will crank up their damage, and if you gonna nail a whole herd with FR, like 20+, quite a few will get zapped, even with stacked procs. Recharge is a must, so you can do it as much as you can, group to group if possible, if your global is really high. If it is enough, you can "Layer" your FR upon itself, double-stacking itself.
If your hero's recharge is fast enough, you can do a "layered" FR towards the latter end of your Blizzard. If you like to see those hp bars melt down...... successfully casting another FR that stacks over a previously casted FR during your Blizzard will make those hp bars ZIP!!!! -

Im the one who runs around w/ twin defenders and am pretty friendly, but also very busy too.... Im a guy IRL too (thus the new avatar) and peeps either mistake me a female or a male rp'ing as a female, since i play ONLY female toonz. I dont RP a female, EVER,(unless it leads to phat 1ew7) and when i do 6+ hr gaming sessions, i'd rather stare at a hottie than some d00d.
Ingame i go by Phire/PHIRE/ PHlRE(w/ a lowercase L, which is my global). My toons are easily spottable since their twins and will always have the PHIRE tag in them. IRL i go by KC, im 34(though im mistaken for 24), did 6yrs in the Marine reserves (not a vfw) and been in federal security for 7 years. Its real good money and plan to stick and retire with it, hopefully have a family one day (which requires finding that choice mate first lol)...
Peeps think im sort of geek/nerd for being able to play two accounts at the same time, but really im just an old skool gamer. Old enough to have played the original Atari when i was a kid and played pretty much most other gaming platforms plus the Commodore 64 lol. Right now, i got a PS3, 2 gaming rigs, and a laptop... and considering a Wii for the FPS'ing. (hello House of the Dead: Overkill! That game ROX)
Get alot of questions how i got into dual-boxing.....
There was one time, i was engaged..... tried to do the standard thing the gamer d00d would do - get their honey into gaming since they couldnt understand why you spent so much time doing it. Bought her a gaming computer but she played CoH just a little bit, and EITHER made furriez or naked chix (i thought only 14yr old males did that for attention!). Well it didnt last long and i decided to use her account as a slave account and buff bot for my heroes. Well, i started to experiment with "power stacking" and found out it worked well and in fact offset the balance of the game into your favor. Then worked on learning to effectively dualbox ever since then and gained the ability to work two mice at the same time (my left is as good as my right in FPS'ing - does help being a natural lefty). When we broke up she took her computer, and eventually ive got two new identical gaming rigs from New Egg :P

Those honkin chains are handmade by me - used to run a small jewelry business. The style is called Byzantine weave and not easily foundable in stores. Even rarer is seeing it w/ two tones (two metals). Most of them online are machine crafted but are either solid silver or gold. Only handcrafters can put in two-toned designs.... -

5) they get mad at you for calling them a n00b, though their thread is about information easily garnished from reading the defender forums, if they just bothered to.....
been a dedicated defender for the past 3 years and still surprised all the whining and complaining these suckers still making.... why dont these punks just move on to other AT's already?

Seriously, I do. Case in point: I ran a Katie Hannon TF a few months back on Champion. It was a group I hadn't done too much with before - they put out a call for people to play in a static team and it sounded like fun so I signed up. Anyway, I was tanking for them and we had a pickup person who was offering to play either a Dark or an Empath and didn't seem to really much mind which. I immediately pushed for the Dark. A teammate of mine from the static group was perplexed and asked me why.
I explained, in brief, about all that Dark brings to a team. That added to the fact that we already had an Empath on board made it an easy choice from my perspective, but she didn't seem convinced.
After one of the best, smoothest Katies I'd done to date (the only person to die was me when the witches sapped me on some of the Mary ambushes), she wasn't so dubious any more about the wisdom of including a Dark def.
no wonder it went well, they're teh best for the 1st mission....

Don't think time bomb was really meant to be used in the middle of a mob. I like dropping it when the tank is herding. If you time it right, it wont go off right when the first guy steps on it and maybe hit two or three baddies. Instead, with good timing, it will hit the whole mob and destroy them.
A def soloing or tanking which has a debuff toggle (DN/RI/EF, even SS w/ good timing) basically can preset a few tripmines and then a time bomb on a corner, and just pull a herd w/ the toggle around the corner - voila! BOOM! -

if built right for solo damage mitigation, they are WAY overpowered in damage output - there's a severe loss of balance. There seemed to be a lack of risk/reward balance when one char can easily mitigate that risk, and somehow consistently maintain that high lvl of reward. Thats what i do with two defenders who's designed to buff others but basically "self-buff" themselves.
There was a Speed LGTF that i did with a Perma Dom and he pretty much massacred everything once he took a bit of time to charge up his Dom. It was very impressive to see one character put out SO much offense(much more than a blaster) but in the same time scary cuz he really didnt need much support lol...... not sure what his build was but he was very UNSQUISHY
