Happy Halloween

Twas the Eve of All Hallows

Twas the eve of all hallows and throughout the house
All the creatures were spooky, including the mouse.
The cobwebs were strung by the doorway with care
In hopes that some children would soon have a scare.

The vampires were nestled all snug in their crypts,
While trickles of blood ran right down their lips
And mummies all wrapped up, and the ghosts all in white,
Had just settled in for the fun of the night,

When out in the graves there arose such a clatter,
I left the dungeon at speed to see what was the matter.
Away to the darkness I flew like a bat,
Tore open the shutters and cleared off the rats.

The moon, bright and pale, showed werewolves below
Giving powers of midnight to monsters unknown,
When what to my yellowing eyes should appear,
But a towering demon with minions unclear

With one broken horn, so jagged and red,
I knew in a moment he must be Lord Dread.
More rancid than poison, his minions they came,
And he howled, and he roared, and called them by name;

"Now, Slasher! now, Cancer! now, Violence and Frigid!
On Horror! on Hatred! on Slander and Wicked!
To the depths of the ocean! to the top of the wall!
Now crash away! slash away! smash away all!"

And with the silence unnatural before storms arrive,
They scattered to make sure that none would survive
So round past the mansion the demons they flew,
With eyes full of hatred, and hellfire too.

And then, in the shadows, I heard from the floor
The first dark intruder and then many more.
As I drew in my claws, and was turning about,
Out of the darkness itself the Dread Lord stepped out.

He was shrouded in shadow, from his head to his foot,
And his eyes were still burning with ashes and soot;
A dozen black imps crawled up on his back,
And he looked like a panther poised to attack.

His eyes –Oh such sorrow! His fangs, how they shined!
His breath was like sulfer, his skin moved like slime!
His droll little mouth was drawn up in a sneer,
And the wings on his back filled us with fear;

The stump of a horn displayed right on his head,
In the lighting of midnight it shown bright and red
He had a thin face and a scarred little snout,
That wrinkled and steamed when he blew a breath out.

He was lanky and twisted, like darkness itself,
And I screamed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know a new meaning of dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to the graves,
And tore open the coffins; bode the dead to awake,
And laying his finger aside of his horn,
He vanished once more into the shadows he borne;

He appeared right outside, gathered nightmares together,
And away they all flew away like an evening’s foul weather.
But I heard him scream out to the creatures of night,
"Hallows Evening to all, and to all a good fright."

Nicely Done Story. And Happy Halloween to you all. Sadly I have to work tonight. Being a Manager for a Pizza Joint sucks this time of year. Halloween is our busiest day of the year =(. I'll see you all around midnight EST Tho!
