    Amusingly, the "damage nerf" to Psychic Shockwave just about evens out when you consider the damage buff to Dominators as a whole. Instead of dealing with highs and lows, now you get a consistent high. Plus you don't have to wait 38 levels to stop sucking. Now you're about even with other secondaries from level one. How cool is that?

    You know, I'm not trying to be mean to you Dominator players out here, but you guys should take a look at how Stalker players reacted to their buff and try to model your posts off them. And think: You guys got an even better buff, in my opinion.

    Please don't let one disgruntled/misinformed Dominator player shape your opinion towards the entire Dominator player base. Reading the Dom and test forum, it appears that the feedback is overwhelming positive and constructive. As a proud parent of a Grav/Nrg, Mind/Ice and Earth/Thorn I find myself giddy about the upcomming changes. I've just started an Ice/Psi in anticpation of them. No more 40 Levels of suckage? Yes please.

    Power Boost from Energy Assault has been changed to a 25ft radius "Extreme" PBAoE with 8s recharge and 10 end cost.

  3. Your Mind/Fire will serve you well. Mind/* is a fantastic control primary and */Fire is among the best in single target and AoE damage (if not THE best). After you kick the dickens out of every challenge the game throws at you with this pairing, challenge yourself and roll something a little off the beaten path.

    Rumor has it these combos are fun, effective and not FoTM.

    1. Ice/Psi

    2. Earth/Thorn

    3. Fire/Nrg

  4. Take solace in the fact that 99% of PuGs and 54% of your VG won't want you on their team due to super-accurate KB. People don't get it, they don't want to and no amount of education on the matter will sway their walnut sized dinosaur brains. Such is our "burden".


    I intend to roll a delicious Mind/Nrg in honor of both awesomness and Vid-Jeet-Tah, the patron saint of Mind/Nrg goodness.
  5. NOt great, that's for sure. One thing we /Thornys have going for us in PvP is our attacks looooooong activation times. It translate into more damage. It might be unwise to assume that we'll live long enough to follow through with subsequent attacks however.
  6. Even with the damage boost to Lift, Gravity remains on the bottom rung for Dominator Primaries in my opinion. All of the assualt sets are going to even-keeled as of issue 15 from what I understand. A week ago, I would've said /Thorns and /Energy were the we4k3st but that no longer holds true. I currently have an Earth/Thorns and Grav/Energy and am looking forward to issue 15.

    Wow,

    Those are some epic changes to Energy in my view. I look forward to trying them out on Live. All around the sets, it appears SNIPES are receiving a MASSIVE buff in terms of their damage. Has anyone here tried out the new snipes on Test? From a numbers standpoint, I'm willing to respec into one. I suspect that during a fight, I'd open with either my STH or AoE Control and follow up with a snipe to an annoying LT or Boss. It could potentially mean 2 annoying mobs dead/disabled in fist 6 seconds or so? Guess I won't know until Live. Anywho, thanks for the linky.

  10. I suspect it was raised to bring it on par with Mind Control's Levitate power. Levitate had been doing more damage than Lift since its inception. This should even out the powers, which is good considering their pretty much clones of one another.
  11. I've been told Rad/Sonic or Cold/Sonic defenders were good tank/brute choppers.

    Could you explain you answer further? What is it aboot Earth/TA that makes peeps want to tear their hair out? I currently have a 50 Grav/TA/Ice troller. Would he be an effective PvPer?



    Never mind, just read the "To kill a Stalker" thread. Could you tell me how it is that earth powers disrupt hide at a range of 500ft though?
  13. I stink at PvP. There's no getting around this fact. However, my SG has a big 4th of July PvP even comming up and I'd like to join in the festivities. It's clear I won't be doing any killing during the event but I would like to throw a wrench in the works of our enemies.

    After looking around I noticed that a Grav/FF/Ice/Stealth pool would have access to two caging powers, 3 phase shift-esque powers in PFF, Hibern00b and Phase Shift, a Teleport/Disorent power, some KB/KD and a hold. I thought that if i can't kill I should try to annoy as much as possbile and I think this is the AT to do it.

    Have any of you out there in PvP land come across anything like this? Do you have any sugguestions or build ideas? I could use a lot of help and welcome your feed back. I'll also try to post a build for your review.

  15. I'm a little late to the party and for that, I apologize. Before you run off and fill all of your character slots with alts; consider these odd-ball builds for a moment!

    Grav/TA Controller: An excellent team player and soloist! Wormhole (a highly entertaining power) a mob in a an already waiting Oil Slick and keep them there with a well placed AoE immbolize. Singularity is a fine pet and Grav has some good single target controls/attacks. Add epics to garnish.

    TA/Elec: What's this you say?! A damage type that will light Oil Slick with no problem! A hold to stack with Ice Arrow! Win, win. You can also sap mobs with Power Sink from the Elec epic pool. It's a build that's truly more than the sum of its parts. Join PuGs and amaze them with what a supposed "gimp" pair can accomplish.
  16. A Kin/Elec/Elec defender also has access to 3 -End powers in Transfence, Short Circut and Power Sink. Very easy to sap mobs of all their end and keep them out for every fight.
  17. Read the first three pages of this thread and I'm stunned (thru my PoTD) that people are looking at a gift horse in the mouths here.

    Castle is giving us a massive damage boost and taking nothing in return. As someone posted earlier, single players of any AT aren't supposed to be soloing AVs. Rather than be pouty about not soloing massive HP bags or mad that you can't triple-stck your domination, why not see how the new numbers work out.

    Personally, I'd take any one of these new dominators over just about any other AT/set in the game. Near blaster damage with equal or better controller controls. Yes please.
  18. I like the 4 Basilisk, 1 Lockdown Proc and 1 Devastation Proc.
  19. I like to slot Tesla Cage with the Devistation Proc and the Lock Down chance for +2 Mag hold. It increases the chance to one-shot hold a boss noticably.

    That's what I was hoping for. A sure fire method of sapping mobs for extra control and a way to easily ignite OSA. I plan on +Def and +Recharge sets for the toon.

    It may not be a TA/Fire but I like what Im seeing.
  22. So the devs continue to make me suffer by refusing to give me access to a TA/Fire Blast combo. To combat the weeping hole left in my heart by their heinous actions, I've decided to make a TA/Elec/Elec.

    My thoughts on this are simple and twofold. The first nugget to seep out of my head is the Short Circut > Power Sink combo. My hope is that when they're both slotted with -End IOs, that they'll be able to sap mionion/Lts of all of their endurance. I've got 2 Elec/* blasters to 50. So I've got some idea as to what SC can do. I've never taken a defender to 50 that has used the Elec epic/Power Sink. Will the two of these combined do the trick?

    The other issue that lead me to believe this combo might work is actually so simplistic I'd rather not mention it.

    So, let me know what you think forumites.
