  1. The third kb protection is the Blessing of the Zephyr, which is more expensive because of rarity and the fact that it can be slotted into any pool travel power (hover and combat jumping too). That one is 2 hero merits, maybe that's the one Dug is going for.

But yeah, a Steadfast Protection would be cheaper and pretty easy to slot in fire armor.
  2. Happens to me a lot. Sometimes I remember to write my ideas down, sometimes I forget to.

Should I have prefaced that with a spoiler alert?

Yes! And easy to slot in Tough if you've gone for Weave.

I also didn't mention Thunderstrike for ranged defense, but several of my scrappers/brutes have fire blast or gloom slotted with thunderstrikes... 6 slots will grant 3.75% ranged defense.

You can get AoE from Scirocco's Dervish or Eradication (I like Eradication because it gives you Max HP, max End, and a little Ranged defense as well as the AoE). Both sets go in AoE powers, so as an Electric/Shield you should have plenty of places to put them.
Well, I did pretty good for mostly doing it off the top of my head. ^_^

There's this fantasy that marketeers "control" a niche. Many marketeers themselves subscribe to this fantasy, and when they see any activity in their niche that isn't them, they subscribe it to a single other marketeer moving into their niche.

Maybe if you're working something like level 27 Basilisk Gaze quads where the inventory and turnover is so slow that one person can control it, that's true. But the majority of popular IOs have a high turnover rate and many marketeers can be working the same niche and all make money, even if none of them "control" the niche.

In any case, the only thing a marketeer needs to make money is people willing to sell low quickly and other people to buy high quickly. I don't expect human nature to change in that regard. The only thing that makes exploiting that difficult is when the market is flooded, but it remains to be seen if the supply of the most wanted IOs can really exceed the demand. There are a limited number of purple recipes and PvP IOs out there, so there's always going to be some level of demand for those, for example.

Do you mean you bought 48 superpacks on Beta to test them? Or do you mean you got 3 catalysts, which are a different thing?
  8. For shields you want to focus on things like Obliteration (melee defense), Mako's Bite (ranged defense) and Touch of Death (AoE defense). Also six-slotting buildup with Gaussian's Syncronized Fire Control will give 2.5% to all three positions, well worth doing. All of those require six-slotting, unfortunately, but you can get some ranged & AoE defense from three-slotted Blessing of the Zephyr, and of course be sure to slot your Steadfast Protection 3% defense IO, and the Glad Armor 3% if you can afford one or earn the 30 a-merits to buy it... and then you add in weave, combat jumping, and manuevers and make sure your core defensive powers are well slotted for defense and you should be in good shape.

The brute and scrapper ATOs give smashing/lethal defense primarily, but a lesser amount of melee defense for only 3 slots.

That's the 2 minute answer to softcapping shields. And as everyone else said, you won't need to worry about typed damage.
  9. You likely want to ask this in the Market forum, but short answer is yes.

At least for the flattening part. Dunno about stabilization.
  10. Content Revamp would make an interesting character name.

You could delete and reroll him/her every time something new is added to the game.

    Fusionverse?

Sounds like something that would have been in the Player Events section, which went away.
  13. Sooooo... this boils down to:

    1. They released stuff with bugs! = They're going too fast!
    2. They haven't fixed it yet! = They're not going fast enough!

    Yeah.
  14. Global has an @ in front of it when you e-mail. ^_^

Also, you can only e-mail to globals.

When posting in global channels you will see your global listed. When posting to server-specific channels like help, coalition, super group, team chat, broadcast etc. you will see your character's name listed.

I'm not sure if that answers your question... CoH knows what your global name is, and what your character's name is. It doesn't get them confused.
  15. If I understand this correctly, when you're VIP the 2 global slots act as extra slots? So you have 12 slots per server, and you can apply your two global slots to any server to have up to 14 slots on that server?

And then if you've done this, when you drop to premium those slots are locked in to that particular server?

If that's how it works, then yeah... if you applied them to Exalted, then you'd be screwed. Seems like a flaw with how the system works, but I guess the lesson is not to go all-out assigning extra slots to the VIP server if there's a chance you're not going to remain VIP.

We still haven't heard if that is, in fact, what the OP did.

I was under the impression that all slots would be locked when you go to Premium, and you could unlock whichever two characters you wanted (plus any extra slots you had). And really, I still don't see why it doesn't work that way. But whatever. Since I play primarily on a single server it's never been an issue to me.
  16. I was just standing around in Dark Astoria, waiting for a SG mate to get done with a BAF so we could trade, and promising someone else that I'd start up a tips team after.

I still have the item I'd claimed from e-mail to trade to him, so I'm good. No idea if the BAF finished though.

    Not entirely true.

I had level one characters in Breakout/old tutorials, the game knew where those maps were apparently.

Although I was only online on Union in Breakout for about two minutes, then I got knocked out again.

    Cannot find map!

Have you tried looking under the couch?

Technically that's what I was doing too. Was waiting for a SG mate to finish a BAF so we could do a trade of a purple he needed for one I could use. Standing around in DA...

Well, good news is we hadn't tried the trade yet. Bad news is, I e-mailed the IO to myself and then pulled it from e-mail on another character, no idea if I'll still have it when servers come up....
  20. Sounds like if you're still online, you're good until you zone... so... uh... start street sweeping!
  21. Yeah, Virtue blew up. All servers broke.

    • Once you assign a Server Slot to a character, that slot cannot be changed short of deleting the character. Changing to VIP then back to Premium doesn't change this selection. In other words, permanent.
So if the player added the 2 Global Slots to Exalted while he was a VIP, when his account went Premium those two Global Slots would became 2 Server Slots on Exalted. If every server other than the one the player can check shows 0/0 slots, then the player assigned the base 2 Global Slots to the now inaccessible server.

Or that he assigned the two slots to Exalted.
It is physically impossible to assign your two slots to Exalted, because it is physically impossible for a premium player to even access the Exalted server, and you don't assign your two slots until you've gone to premium.

Which is what Kosmos was saying, but spelled out more bluntly. What you are suggesting is impossible.

Now, what you might be thinking is if you bought or earned *extra* slots and assigned them all to Exalted, then those slots won't be available to you when you drop to Premium. But you should still have the default 2 slots.
  23. My favorites are probably Sparks Fly electric melee/shield scrapper and Megamisama, Street Justice/Shield brute.

So I could say the introduction of new sets -- Shield Defense, Street Justice, Electric Melee for scrappers. Or side-switching, which lets me play my brute as a hero. Or all of the costume additions which make them look as cool as they look. Incarnate powers and purchasable PvP IOs with a-merits have helped a lot too.

But what makes them fun to play is their heavily-IO'd builds. And what makes it possible for me to afford those builds is the market. So I'd say the introduction of IOs and the market system is the biggest thing that has allowed me to play my favorite characters.

    Your DXP Plans

Some friends in my SG are running a 1-50 static team over the weekend. "Only apply if you can no-life the weekend", lol. I play a lot... a lot... but I didn't apply.

However! I've been working on a Street Justice Stalker who is now 36. The only ATs that I don't have a level 50 of are: Stalker, MM (46) and Dom (30). And I'm counting "Khelds" and "SoA" as 1 AT each, since I have a 50 WS but not a PB, and two 50 Widows as of last night, but no 50 crab yet.

So my goal for DXP is to get my stalker, MM, and Dom to 50. One 50 of everything, finally!

(Goal subject to change if staff fighting suddenly drops tomorrow.)

What are your plans for the coming weekend?
  25. Awesome. Well worth showing off. ^_^
