Went premium, got zero global slots

Just created an extra account, paid for one month of VIP and then went premium. But now I have zero global slots and zero server slots. I thought I was supposed to have 2 global slots?

What am I doing wrong? Can I contact support in-game without being able to log in to a character?

A little more detail on the timeline please. It sounds like your account should still be VIP if you indeed just created it and paid for a month of time, even if you immediately cancelled the recurring payment.

Read this carefully:

Does it say "0/2 global" at the top of the server character select screen you used?

Or, does it say "0/2 server" at the top of the same screen?

Or, does it say "2/2 server" at the top?


1) The "0/2" stuff actually means you have 2 slots but you haven't placed them yet.
(Edit: I think it works this way. I haven't had any global slots to spend for quite some time. The server slots definitely work this way, recording only the ones filled by characters as "used".)

2) As soon as you use a global slot on a server, it is locked to that server forever.

3) As soon as you make a character using a slot, it is locked to that character until the character is deleted, BUT does not travel with the character in a server transfer(this sucks) so that you need to buy a slot on the new server to move the character.




I wish they would make this all simpler to understand and more obvious, especially the "slots are locked once used and won't transfer" part.

You wont get any extra slots. You must have 2 toons unlocked and playable somewhere.

Check all the servers and look for any toons that aren't locked or any empty slots that say create character. If none click on a toon (not in exalted) and see what message comes up. If it says you have no unlocks remaining then contact cs.

Well, I was thinking those 2 global slots were a Freedom launch thing, and therefore he wouldn't have had them on an account created just a month ago.

The game FAQ answer on global slots states "Any purchased slots will remain available on the account, even if VIP status is declined." If purchased slots applied to Exalted don't result in global tokens when one drops to Premium, then that statement is more than a little bit misleading; with "available on the account" meaning something quite different than what I believe most people would assume.

I've never applied extra slots on Exalted... does it pop up a warning that they'll become inaccessible if you drop to Premium? If it doesn't then the OP might have a slim chance of finding a sympathetic ear in CS. Otherwise, he's probably out of luck (and slots).

If I understand this correctly, when you're VIP the 2 global slots act as extra slots? So you have 12 slots per server, and you can apply your two global slots to any server to have up to 14 slots on that server?

And then if you've done this, when you drop to premium those slots are locked in to that particular server?

If that's how it works, then yeah... if you applied them to Exalted, then you'd be screwed. Seems like a flaw with how the system works, but I guess the lesson is not to go all-out assigning extra slots to the VIP server if there's a chance you're not going to remain VIP.

We still haven't heard if that is, in fact, what the OP did.

I was under the impression that all slots would be locked when you go to Premium, and you could unlock whichever two characters you wanted (plus any extra slots you had). And really, I still don't see why it doesn't work that way. But whatever. Since I play primarily on a single server it's never been an issue to me.
