Jalia McMarrin was my level 57 or so barbarian shaman in EQ1. This look approximates her in her class armor. ^_^ Rad/Dark, that seemed closest to a shaman to me.
Jennie Justice, my level 50 broadsword/regen scrapper on Virtue. I like how the toga works as an overtunic, even if it clips with the skirt just a bit.
Last one is blatantly stolen from Bass_Akwards's dark elf shadow knight, because I liked that look so much. Lady Asakira:

Until the allow mace defenders, I'll never be able to create a cleric.

So I wake up this morning, and before I jump in the shower I decide to log in and check some of my marketing toons. The servers are about to come down, so I have to work fast. I pull down things I've bought, put up a couple of bids, switch to another character, grab some reciepes and salvage, pull up my crafting table (Field Crafter FTW!), craft 4 LoTG: Defense IOs, go to craft something else... and BAM! Server goes down.
One thing I learned: they're very good about saving everything just the way it was at the moment they kick you from the server. When I logged on tonight I had my 4 LoTG: Defense IOs crafted and waiting in my inventory.
On my other character, I discovered that I had a bid out all day for 3 meat cleavers (base salvage) at 5,000 influence a piece.
WTF? Apparently I wasn't so awake when I placed that bid... -
Quote:Since this is now the Market and Inventions board, I'll make a tangental comment: I really don't understand Doctored Wounds' popularity. I personally don't feel that its set bonuses are all that great. Yeah, I see the 5% recharge, but eh. I prefer to use (on my characters) Mircles or Numina's Convalescence, and in a pinch, Harmonized Healing before I'd go with Doctored Wounds.
I kind of agree with this, but I see DW sets being used in scrapper builds all the time. Maybe that's because I look at /regen builds a lot and most of them want as much recharge as possible, but the set still seems way more popular than is really warranted to me. -
In general DM, MA, BS or Katana are all going to give you good single-target damage. I'm more partial to Broadsword or Katana myself, you can have a couple of AoE attacks and still get excellent single-target damage. MA is fun too. The experts can tell you which of them has slightly better dps, but really it's a matter of which one you like best, they're all quite good.
A lot of ATs *can* solo, but across the board and straight out of the box it's hard to beat a scrapper for soloing, so I do think that's the right choice. ^_^ -
Wow, nice.
I don't keep that much track of what I make, but I'm quite certain I didn't make 3.9 billion over the last week. However in the last 4-6 weeks I've managed to rack up 1.6 billion on my main character and anywhere from 200 mil to 500 mil on each of my other marketing toons... there's somewhere between 8 and 10 of them that I work with. I'm not quite as organized as you are either, but I'm making money. ^_^ -
When I tried to click the link in the thread in the announcement forum it told me I wasn't allowed to do whatever I was trying to do. Just FYI. I had to come out and come to this forum to view this thread.

I had no reason to create radically different looks for most of my characters, but for one newer character named Popeye Khan, the whole idea was that he'd look like different pop icons. I started with Michael Jackson and Elvis, and I have James Dean, but there's now a Marilyn Monroe look that naturally wasn't possible before the science booster. ^_^

I think you're missing the point that there's an appropriate forum for this kind of thing, where 1) you'd get a more positive response, and 2) your thread would probably last longer.
It's a nice idea, but wrong forum for it really. -
I'm on Virtue and Victory... I'd be up for something.
-
I could do that, if you haven't gotten a response from anyone else.

Quote:Actually, no it's not. At least not in the United States. Unless they actually do possess child pornography. That IS illegal. But just "being a pedophile" isn't a crime. Engaging in pedophilia or child pornography is.
Either way, seems clear to me that the guy was an obvious troll. The only way to deal with trolls is simply not to feed them. Period. That's not even my opinion, that's just the truth.
He probably was a troll, but if he really does have pictures of naked children then that can be interpreted as child pornography (people have been prosecuted for stupider things). And if he's telling the truth then they WILL find stuff on his computer to prosecute him for, guaranteed. -
Running nothing but freakshow and council radio missions is a type of farming.
Streetsweeping Perez Park is a type of farming.
Sewer teams are a type of farming.
Slaughtering zombies by the thousands in Dark Astoria is a type of farming.
Killing skulls or monkeys or Fake Nemesis for a badge is a type of farming.
More often, by farming people mean running the same high-end mission over and over and over, or an AE mission designed to be repeated, in each case for high rewards. Specific to AE, you'd have one of a handful of maps, but often the narrow city map or the dreck map, and you've have a specific enemy that are all bosses or all Lts., and usually an enemy that does smashing/lethal damage and does not have much of a ranged attack.
None of that falls into what I would consider exploits, although I admit it's my opinion only. But one of the definitions given by the red names is too much reward for too little or no risk. A boss farm yields a very high reward -- but not without risk. In fact I've rarely been on one where people didn't die, sometimes quite a few times, even on ones run by people who know exactly what they're doing.
I've seen one such mission with Lts. who don't happen to have any ranged attack at all. This is a lot closer to an exploit, in my opinion, although in truth a hovering blaster would take forever to clear the map on his own because they will run all over the place. But with a well built tank to herd them, you can blast from on high and you're in no danger whatsoever. People on the ground are in quite a bit of danger (we had a team wipe in fact, except for the one person who could fly -- me), but still, that one felt like probably an exploit to me.
Helper NPCs that buff, etc., also seem to push the envelope for me, but of course they're quite common in such missions.
Another one that I've seen that I thought was potentially borderline an exploit involved lots and lots of a certain AV. Granted, it's an AV -- people died, often. But each was worth a lot of experience, and I just don't think you're supposed to encounter 20 or more of the same AV in the same mission. How does that make any sense?
Ultimately though, my only real problem with boss farms or AV farms is the repetition. I think you gain experience too fast in these missions, but there's also a lot of danger if your team isn't built well, so it's hard to call them exploits. Serious exploits like bubble farms and all-rikti communication officer farms are much easier to spot as patently against the rules.
The upcoming change in difficulty settings is, frankly, giving people who love to farm what they really want. I don't really see a problem with that -- if you can solo a map set for 8, then go for it. I agree that it can be a lot of fun. But that's farming, too. -
I was on my level 50 fire/fire blaster on Freedom, Serpentine Fire, just doing some quick market stuff when I saw someone advertising for people to help take down Kraken in Perez Park. What the heck, I thought. I don't have any of the GM badges on this character and it won't take long. I said I'd join.
A few minutes later we take Kraken down. It goes smoothly, and everyone is happy. A couple of people want to hunt more monsters, but most leave. I go back to my marketing without specifically saying I was interested in anything further. However a few minutes later the leader tells me that Jack in Irons and Eochai are up.
Ok then. I join again and head to Croatoa. Along the way I check to see if Sally is up -- there she is, right in front of me! I knock her off and earn the badge. Guess I'd met her once before.
After we take down Jack and Eochai, people want to check for other GMs. Someone heads to Crey. I head to Dark Astoria. Jurrasik is up, and right after I'm told this I target Adamaster.
We recruit more people (half the team tends to leave after each monster defeat) and we kill Jurrasik, then Adamaster. Nifty! Are there any more?
Well, the only other normal GM left is Babbage. I decide to go look, but in the meantime the entire team falls apart. However, after searching Boomtown, I find Babbage mumbling to himself in a back corner of the zone.
I send a tell to the former team leader. After a few minutes he comes and we assemble a new team. At least one person has just come back after a long hiatus, and GMs are one of their favorite things that they miss about the game. When ready, we take Babbage down.
What other ones can we go for, people want to know? Well, there aren't many left. There's Lusca, of course, but I warn people that that is a very difficult fight, more like a mini-raid. But we decide to go look anyway.
Lusca is up. In fact, there's another team taking her down -- and they've only just started! We joined in and, contrary to my warnings, it was quite easy to pull off with 2+ teams going at it.
At this point there's only the Paladin left, but of course you have to grab that one before he's been built, and what are the chances of that? In fact, I have NEVER gotten the Knight Errant badge in the game before. In the old days it was very difficult to discover the clockworks in the process of making the paladin, and since it became easier I've just never tried for it. So I tell the team I'm done for the day, and the leader says, "To King's Row!" I think, why? Then he adds, "Unusual clockwork activity!"
Sure enough, that message had just popped up moments earlier. I hadn't even noticed it.
We head to KR and I come across the partially-assembled Paladin right away. There's another team there too -- I think the remnants of the team that helped us take Lusca down. We kill clockwork for a good 15 or 20 minutes, and finally it's over, and we have the badge.
Short of spawning the Kronos Titan, we managed every GM badge in the game in just about 2 1/2 hours: Kraken, Jack in Irons, Eochai, Sally (not really a GM of course), Jurassik, Adamaster, Babbage, Lusca, and Paladin. ^_^ Maybe we should have started a Rikti Ship Raid and called out U'*** Gr'ai?
That was a fun evening! -
Quote:Yeah. First thought: you could easily be arrested and prosecuted for being a pedophile.A few days ago, I am on a team where a member says "Statement indicating he is a pedophile"
Period. That's not even my opinion, that's just the truth.
Second thought: I don't want to be on a team with you. Thanks. /quit.
At least, that's what I like to think I would have said and done in that situation... although it's probably only something I'd think about saying and doing afterwards. -
Quote:Actually you don't need to do that, if you follow the instructions on the thread "how to get to the Test Server" it creates it's own folder once you set it up right.AFTER copying it to a new folder... because the client is different... you'd wind up copying over your coh stuff with test, and then back, so... new folder.
*edit* just noticed that there's no such thread. Used to be stickied in every single forum. Like, up to a week and a half ago. -
Quote:It just seems like every time I open it it has to wait 2 full minutes to check for add-ons or upgrades to something. I realize this is probably magnified by the fact that I don't open it as often as I used to... still, Chrome, like everything Google does, is very streamlined and simplified, and I always like that.Firefox 3.5 got a speed upgrade, so the difference isn't so much. Firefox is still a resource hog if you leave it open long enough.
I still like Firefox about a bazillion times more than IE. I like Safari more than IE. I like Opera more than IE. I think I'd prefer searching the web with my bare hands more than using IE. -
I ran into a problem with Firefox months ago where on my main computer, it suddenly wouldn't remember my login for ANY forum. And I like to remain logged in to the city of heroes forums.
Now I use Google Chrome. It happens to be faster than Firefox too, so that didn't hurt. -
Oh wait, spoke too soon!
I got past login!
*edit* Aaaaaaand... I'm in!
