Could someone please explain to me why they thought a level 20 story arc was appropriate? Because that's just what we need... more low level content. I have Incarnates... I want to be able to use them, not have my Controller back to spamming a rotating hold on 3 different opponents: been there, done that, told them to forget the tee-shirt because I didn't want to remember it.
-
Ok, found my answer to #2 and part of #3 by delving into the UI.
Still wondering about 1 and part of 3 -
1) Trying to write a Crey story, that I would like to be higher level content... but all I get are Tanks for spawns. I'm sure there is a reason for this... I'd just like to understand why.
2) Is it possible to get a particular faction from a villain group: say Paragon Protectors or Mu? I'd like to use both of those factions in different stories, but I am not seeing a way for me to selectively choose.
3) can use build off of "Standard" critters to create a custom critter? I'm not seeing a way to do this, though I see references to filling out custom groups with standard critters (I don't see how I would do that either).
Thanks for your patience if you made it this far. Any help/tips/advice appreciated. -
That's so helpful. And to what do I owe your disdain, oh sagacious one? The fact that I did some research, and found the same results everywhere and pointed to one of them as an example?

My problems are not the same as yours Blue Centurion.. though I commiserate.

Quote:I know what it is and theoretically how it functions...Please research DUAL CHANNEL mode for your motherboard and ram.
Example:
If I have 4 sticks of ram that equal 1GB stick each/individually and one goes bad I surely will have 3GB left. Although most pcs will run the 3GB in single channel mode. However, if I remove one more and now use 2 sticks I'll have 2GB in DUAL CHANNEL mode which will raise my FPS considerably in games. WHICH WILL BE SUPERIOR to the 3GB
Matching sticks and the correct DIMM slots are they KEYS to running in channel modes correctly.
Good luck
You are suggesting that this article is thoroughly out of date, then?

Quote:But... its not like the lag I see with just huge groups. And I do not know of anyone else having the same symptoms as I am.No. This is not a memory issue. This is a "Leagues = Lags" issue.
A good internet connection and a fast machine will ameliorate it SLIGHTLY. But the fact is the current client-server setup simply cannot handle league play properly, leading to degraded framerates and lag (especially egregious tray lag).
And I would not count tray lag as one of my issues. I don't have tray lag when this happens, because I can't do ANYTHING. -
Quote:I had tried this previous to the patch... it had no effect. One thing helped me a little. Leandro came up with it. i am really bad at linking forum posts though. Here it is in a nutshell I saved though:
bugged pohsyb about this for quite a while during Issue 12 beta, and this led to the "Hide Buff Numbers" option. In case you don't know about it, it's located in the General settings, and prevents the game from sending you the buff numbers, or any buff data at all.
See, the option is available in 3 locations: "Status Window" (the panel under your own health and endurance), "Group Window" (for teams) and "Pet Window". By default, the League window still transfers all the buff data and numbers to your client, and there's no way to disable it.

For the first time i was willing to try the Lambda warehouse after this. It wasnt great, still lagging, walking into walls, but it was better. Big teams still see lag though. Not sure if it will help, but Leandro is a clever fellow, worth a try.
I had pretty good luck this weekend (except for Hami raid), after turning these all off and basically removing EVERY chat tab I had and leaving the only incoming messages as System and actual chat channels that I actively use.
I really believe this is League related: during Hami, I was mapserved due to excessive ping (I have now noticed that ping goes through the roof when this is happening... pings of 1000+ when I am normally at 120-150), and when I logged back in my ping was 155 and my FPS was 45. Asked to get back in the league and as soon as I accepted the invite, my FPS plunged to 11 and my ping shot to 500+.
I examined these symptoms very closely on Monday doing a BAF. I was in the league early, but did note that my regular frame rate of 25 (I pulled my graphics back up) steadily decreased as more members were added to the league and my ping likewise increased. I did not totally crash out during this BAF, but my frame rate once actually in the trial was hovering around 6-8 and my ping in the 3-400's.
I have no idea what these symptoms mean, or how they are related.
I have eliminated, IMO, my video card by trying with a different one.
Resource monitor shows that I have plenty of available physical RAM most times, and COH is not using the pagefile 95% of the time, and even when other things are my drives are cruising along just fine. Network traffic is minimal. I don't use sound 90% of the time, so even if there is something wrong with the sound drivers (probable) it should not be the cause as I have disabled that card and used only onboard sound and still had the problem. -
Quote:I don't know, but I don't think its a memory related issue. With 3 ram sticks that equal 2gb each are you sure you're running in Dual Channel mode?
I'm not much of a BIOS tweaker, so its possible that I am not where I could be with that.. I do believe its set to "auto" or whatever that option might be. -
Wondering if I am alone in this bizarrely persistent issue.
I normally get 45-70 FPS, depending on how many players are visible on my screen (it can drop lower if it gets busy). But when I get on a League, especially a big one, and the fur really starts to fly...my FPS crashes to <1, hovering in the .6-.8 range, and then magically restores at random points (FPS does kinda suck in general when on a league, down to 5-12 FPS).
I just recently came back to the game after a long hiatus, caught the tail end of I19 and the launch of I20.
I do not recall having these issues before I20 and the advent of leagues.
I first recall it happening on a Hamidon raid with a very large league... though at that time I did not understand the specific symptoms that I now do.
I have been working with support on this issue for almost 2 months, and nothing has worked or worked for long to resolve the issue.
I don't have my exact system specs here, but a quick rundown:
quad core AMD maybe 3ghz?
6gb RAM (used to be 8 but one of them turned bad on me)
Win7 64bit Home Premium
BFG Nvidia gtx260 with 1gb
2 SATA drives, one for Windows one with most everything else
In working to resolve this issue these things have been tried:
updated drivers for everything possible
double checked chat logging (its off)
removed combat msgs from in game chat tabs
gfx at lowest possible settings and everything in between
turned off sound
disabled sound card altogether
defragged hard drives
uninstall game client and reinstall
exclude COH from MSE scanning
totally kill MSE process while running game
tried different video card
bought new power supply
Running out of options on things to try, and running out of patience. Its getting worse... this never happened before on a Lambda run, and it happened just the other night post patch (might be relevant, might not be relevant).
The latest thing support has asked for and that I supplied last night was a screenshot of memory resources while the game was running (during the surge on Pinnacle, with my frame rate totally tanked).
It didn't show much... COH was using 1.4-1.6 GB of physical memory... there wasn't much left over, but the PF wasn't really doing much at the same time.
Ideas, suggestions, commiserations, other victims of this? -
I'd really like to know if MSE exclusions solve this issue....
I've been working with Support on this for weeks, and nothing that has been suggested or tried has worked.
I got 60+ fps until I get a WHOLE bunch of players on the screen or I get into a league that starts pushing 24+ people... then my framerates can drop below 1FPS.
I'm going to try that MSE exclusion this evening and see if it helps, but since I already have chat logging off, I don't honestly see why it would help. -
Quote:Except that my system will run at 60fps with recommended settings at any time I am NOT on a league. Enter a league and it drops to 20, get an AV on screen and it drops to 10 or less than 1Perhaps my distinction wasn't complete or clear. When I refer to system lag, I mean lag occurring server-side that is affecting everyone in the instance.
If your graphics are freezing, that's a local issue to your computer. It may well be caused by other factors. The chat-log is a common one for instance, a mis-configured factory over-clocked card is another (that I actually had to deal with once, but that tends to have other signs as well).
System lag won't stop the graphic render, the game will be appear extremely jittery as movement updates are less fluid, but it won't stutter rendering. -
Quote:I disagree... the symptoms are the same, just more extreme. My frame rate totally tanks along with all the other symptoms. I do not have any logging enabled, and have even tried deleting the combat tabs on the recommendation of support.Hmm, screen frozen is a different issue that the system lag.
I'd suggest making sure no background programs going on, and also maybe worth a sanity check to see if you have chat logging turned on with combat logs visible. You may getting hit with that annoying chat-log bug. -
Does anyone still have these league issues, even after the fix to the fix, or is it really just me?
I just did a BAF, got two warnings twice and I wasn't even doing anything because my screen was frozen black, or white, or yellow...
This is making me insane. I have been around and around with support on this issue, and nothing they have suggested has made a difference. -
Ok... just for my own edification: has anyone else been experiencing this sort of performance since I20 launch, not just after the patch this week?
This has been happening to me in the BAF since day one, and also occured to me during a Hami raid.
The patch actually made my general issues somewhat better, but did not alleviate the <1 FPS during large battles with many many PCs on the field at once. -
I had noticed something similar Celestial Lord, but did not test it... Full league 0 masterminds, and it wasn't too bad. We didn't notice until after that the team make-up did not contain masterminds.
-
I have been dealing with this since I20's launch. Yesterday's patch actually made things a smidgen better for me in general, but the <1 FPS is killer along with the "rooting" and tray lag.
Funny... I had never seen the "Uncommon" drop rate issue. Until yesterday, when it was supposedly fixed. I got two uncommons in a row before I gave up from the lag. -
Wow... nice work. Did you do the modeling and textures yourself?
And forgive me for not recognizing you... Zodiac Conspiracy was one of my favorites, too. Those full color illustrations really did make that adventure pop.
Almost makes me want to do something Poserish (I go through phases, and when I get stuck I leave it for months!).
Keep up the amazing work. -

I really enjoy the Eden trial. I picked the Titain O on purpose -- to have as a keepsake for the event. I did the same thing with the Sewer Trial.
Game Makers seem to always fall into the the "new content over fixes" routine. They forget that their customers will still be running the old content before and after the new content is released.
I agree with others. Take an issue off and fix the bugs. Revamp the Eden and Sewer trials to be level 50 events. Personally, I would recommend for every 3rd issue, to take a moment to reflect back on old content. If things are fine then continue on. If not, then consider a Review/Revamp/Fix issue instead.
Look at the Hamidon encounter again. Most will never run this when you can run any other TF/Trial in the game and get more rewards for far less risk, and far less team resources needed. The need to have multiple groups for this event should justify multiple rewards. Let us have multiple Recipes, or multiple HOs, maybe one of HO and one Recipe.
Revamp/Review the Shadow Shard. Few ever go their and the Task Forces are overly long. Dr Quarterfield TF, has multiple missions that could be eliminated simply because they are identical to next mission.

This is a good idea. No, a great idea.
I've been around since shortly after launch (with only a brief period of downtime around issue 5-6), and I have yet to do a Sewer Trial, and have only gotten to do Eden once -- but I remember it fondly as one of the coolest mission arcs in the game.
Old content should be routinely reviewed. Have we not, since Issue 1, been encouraged to start over and explore it all? How much of it is worth exploring at this point? Updates should be almost as important as new content. -
One of the best things I have ever been a part of in a game!
Thanks for Issue 10; from someone who was here for Issues 1-4, bailed at 5 and came back I forget what issue. 9 was cool, but its coolness takes a while to develop. 10 was just freaking awesome. -
Who is that? V3? Kinda hard to tell from the low res....
Nice job. -
12) The AoE for Taunt, the power, is 15
Fifteen feet? Radius or diameter? With the actual Taunt target as the epicenter?
Either there is something I am missing, or this is not the behavior I am seeing.
Figthing Nemesis troops in a mission, throwing out Taunt to work on my pulls and such; expect to get three MOBs, get two. Ummm... pretty tight group there, too.
Saw this same sort of thing happen repeatedly. Expect to Taunt a bunch of mobs, actually get a lot less than I thought.
Are the different Taunts from the different powersets, actually different powers? Seems I remember for the longest time that WM's Taunt did not have a visual cue on the MOB's, but was eventually fixed. I dunno... just been feeling like, even given the nerfs, aggro management ain't what it should be (at least not for me). -
I'll be honest, I haven't read this whole thread.
I an here to be a superhero... see the cape? And that's why I left for a while when the nerfs were announced for I5 last July. That coming on top of a personal loss, was particularly crushing; because I am here to be a superhero, to transcend those real life injuries by doing things that no mere mortal can possibly do.
I'm an escapist, and when you get right down to it, the guy this genre is aimed at. And I came back because I wanted to believe that a man could fly....
This game has lost some of its spirit, and while I can't claim to tell anyone how to reclaim that, I'm really hoping that it can be done.
