If you'd like, give my arc Something Comes to Yarmouth a shot (arcID:58812). It's a minimum level of 25, has one EB, one AV and I've been told the custom group that shows up towards the end is on the challenging side of things.
-
Wow, thank you. I'm really glad you enjoyed the story.
[ QUOTE ]
I have friends in Wellfleet so I was eager to get started.
[/ QUOTE ] Believe it or not, as this whole story is sort of a giant tip of the hat to Lovecraft (Dr. Herbert Munoz's name is actually a mashup of Herbert West from Herbert West: Reanimator and Dr. Munoz from Cool Air), I just looked at a few maps of New England and picked the most Lovecraft-ish name I could find. Yarmouth just strikes me as a very eery name for a place. It has a great sound to it I think. </fanboy>
[ QUOTE ]
Mission 1 a little boring at first, but then when you see that boss. Wow, looks good and is fun to kill. Ally ok. Is boss set to "Back" ? I might have bumped into him before ally if I had been paying more attention.
[/ QUOTE ] Actually impossible to have happen. As I've had severe problems with the front/middle/back placement on outdoor maps I made it so the mission spawns things in sequence instead. The boss doesn't spawn until you find the ally, so from a story perspective he's telling you where the boss is.
[ QUOTE ]
Before going in here contact says "their wounded", maybe you meant to say "the wounded" ??
[/ QUOTE ] Was meant to specifically be referring to the Longbow's (their) wounded, but the makes more sense I think. Will change, thanks.
[ QUOTE ]
Mission 3 Great map. A lot to do while leading Geneva out, but not overpowered, another good mish.
[/ QUOTE ] I'm glad you liked how I had it set up. I did a lot of tweaking around to try and get it 'just right'. I really tried to put as many fun things to do in each mission as I could without really bogging things down as I think you noticed in the last two missions. I'm glad it worked like I was hoping.
[ QUOTE ]
Mission 5 Great map, except its the same one as mish two, I didn't like that. One mutated says "with the ***** gift even we could take 'em." maybe "we" should be "you" (give it a reread, not sure if I misread it). Final EB (really a AV) is awesome. Tough even on the lowest diff he is fun to fight.
[/ QUOTE ] The map bit is very unfortunate. In my mind both 3 and 5 work best as that type of map and so in order to save space (the arc is at 99.95% capacity) I have the final map set to random.
I'd intended the 'we' comment to give an indication that the speakers were well aware that they weren't really all that powerful but that they were deluded enough to think they could take out the heroes/villains who'd be running the arc. Replacing it with a 'you' would convey pretty much the same sentiment, and it'd possibly give a few folks a chuckle to boot. I'll definitely think about it, thanks.
I really tried my best to put together a solid story arc that people would find fun and perhaps a little challenging and it really makes me happy to know you liked it as much as you did. Thanks again for the review.
And yes, the arc does have an EB/AV disclaimer, but I might need to add in a bit more as it's been mentioned in the few comments I've had thus far. -
I'd really rather like some feedback on my longer arc Something comes to Yarmouth(ArcID 58812. It's a 25+ arc because of a lot of Coralax in the beginning missions.
I tried to tell as solid a story as I know how with the space allotted me while giving players a nice chunk of 'optional' content in the missions (not farm-worthy optional content mind you, but still some non-essential story-related things). The custom group that comes in at the end is reportedly somewhat tough and as a fair warning the EB in the fourth mission and AV in the fifth are both controllers.
I also have a short one-off mission I used to test the custom group. The similarly titled, Mutants of Yarmouth(ArcID1509). It may have been there just to test things, but I figured it might as well be entertaining for me, and so I decided to put in a nice chunk of entertaining comments and pseudo-story. As far as actual required content goes it's just a series of defeats. The two bosses, the EB and then the AV in sequence.
I'm fairly sure the main arc is free of at least spelling errors, but since it was mostly meant to be a joke mission the one-off is more likely to contain errors as I didn't run it through nearly as fine a comb.
If you do play them, I hope you have fun on them by the way. -

King British did roll upon his bed of gold, chose a new name, and made a new game.
[/ QUOTE ] You mean King England right
Also, I don't know that this is remotely as bad an occurrence as the one you mention. We're keeping most of the same game designers that we had, and it's been said they'll have a fair amount of autonomy.
<shrug> Here's hoping anyway. -

You don't even have to do that. Fire Melee, for example, just summons the weapon as part of the animation, but there's no draw time, it just appears.
[/ QUOTE ] True, but I tend to think that it'd look better if it was all one animation as opposed to just appearing. Just has more 'style' if you ask me -
[ QUOTE ]
I seriously doubt they would do anything like that. As cool as forming different psychic weapons would be, it would essentially cause you to redraw you weapon for nearly every attack.
[/ QUOTE ] Not necessarily. What they could do is have the attack animation itself be the formation of the weapon and the attack with the weapon dissipating at the end of the animation. You could have the animations be however long you wanted in that scenario really.
It somewhat reminds me of a character from the game Xenogears, Emeralda Kasim. She'd morph her limbs/body into weapons with every attack. Her roundhouse kick would turn her foot into a sickle shaped blade, a palm strike would turn her forearm into a drill, a headbut would grow spikes out of her forehead, and you know, things like that. -

I thought the secret was that the warwalls are actually rikti forcefields they used to slice off sections of the earth for study.
Paragon is actually inside a rikti worldship right now!
Why else do you think the lakes and oceans are only neck deep?
[/ QUOTE ] So that explains why I can never seem to actually get to Shell Beach! (Yay somewhat obscure movie refrence!) -
1. Default To Hit vs default Defense, assuming no buffs and no accuracies I'd want to hit a little bit more than half the time (in PvP) or just most of the time (in PvE) and as the defender I'd expect about the same.
2. Maximum To Hit versus default Defense I'd be upset if I missed (in PvE and PvP). Heck, I WANT to hit almost all the time in that instance with my blaster's targeting drone being the only To Hit buff I have up (in PvE anyway, I expect it to be mostly worthless in PvP unless I have at least one acc enhancement to back it up). As the defender I expect pretty much the same thing, all that'll save me from being hit is the 5% chance to miss that's always there.
3. If I had the maximum Defense versus an opponent with the default To Hit, I'd want to be hit mostly not at all, sort of the opposite as my feeling in question #2 (both PvE and PvP). I also expect to be in trouble trying to hit someone that well buffed.
4. The maximum To Hit versus the maximum Defense, I WANT to hit them most of the time, but I'd expect (and in all fairness, it's how it really should be I think) for the two buffs to cancel each other out and be back in the same position as question #1.
I also think it should be harder than it currently is to reach high levels of To Hit bonus, but that's just me. Oh, and also that targeting drone needs something to improve its performance versus the sets with build up, but that's a different topic isn't it.
Edit: To add numbers to my nebulous commentaries.
1 - 60%-70% chance to hit.
2 - 95% chance to hit, 5% chance to be missed
3 - 5% chance to hit, 95% chance to be missed
5 - back to the original. -

Played? Sure. Me personally: Dark Age, EQ, Anarchy.
[/ QUOTE ] Wow, someone else who played Dark Age, I don't run across all that terribly many.
Rather fun game for what it was I though. <shrug> -

the mobs would COMPLETELY IGNORE my invincibility aura
[/ QUOTE ] Unless I missed a patch, gauntlet and taunt auras are currently broken and not working on the live servers. -
Well, it's hardly a comprehensive trial, but it didn't appear to break stealth at all during my run through the winter event mission on the test server.
I may actually respec out of haste/SS finally. Spiffy. -

Logged Ikube onto test. Unless this is just something I missed ages ago, it looks like they're trying to apply a pseudo assassin's strike functionality to Cloaking Device.
It doesn't work yet though.

Don't get attached to that. It got nixed and sent back to the drawing board.
[/ QUOTE ]Awww, it was a nifty idea though. -
As an aside, this might possibly be why _Castle_ seemed a tad miffed about the accusations of CD being buffed ... seeing as he was in the process of getting it a buff.
Or something. -
Don't know that it's a full crit or anything. It doesn't seem to be working currently, and the text just says increased damage. Could be crit, could be just as much as Build Up, or whatever really.
<shrug>
Edit: Also note, from the text it's just a +DMG on the first attack out of stealth and nothing outside of that. -
Yea.
The short text had an added +DMG in its listing, and the long text had a line about increased damage on the first attack in combat.
As I said though, it didn't seem to work when I tried it. <shrug> -

Kind of figured it was an issue with perception more than any issue with CD myself. More specifically (for me) I think there's an issue with mobs in safeguard missions and their ability to see a character, it may just be me imagining things though, so I'll have to check later on I guess.
-
The only reason it really bothers me is malta are the main mob type in the highest range safeguard mission and they seem to really see through CD fairly well there, so every five feet I get hit with a web grenade.
The joy .... -
I noticed malta were seeing my /dev easier when I went and mucked around with safeguard missions a bit ago. I used to be able to run up into them and lay mines, and in the safeguard mission I might as well not have had any stealth power up at all for how easily they saw me. (Or perhaps not that bad, but it felt like it ya know.

Or maybe the DoT that doesn't occur 100%. I'd love for every blaster set's secondary to be 100% (like ice, AR, sonic, etc). Poor elec/ and power/ don't get 100% either.
[/ QUOTE ] Uuuuummmm ....
Just FYI, there's no such thing as a power blaster. Mebby you meant the energy blast powerset?
