take hover and love it its way better damage mitgation than tough.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Does hot feet work while using hover though?

CJ would IMO be a better option, plus it has Immob protection.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It does if you toggle it on before using Hover.

Hover + 2-3 stacked Siphon Speeds = win!
  2. [ QUOTE ]
I do understand what you're saying but i don't see why if i included what i said in my build its SUCH A HORRIFICLY bad thing to do?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm not saying it's horrific, I just think it might be clearer if you say "it's a sleep" and explain what a sleep is That's why I think it's always useful for controller guides to say a few words about mezzes especially for new players. For example what's the difference between an immob and a hold? which ones set up containment? the concept of mez magnitude, etc. Anyway, just some ideas to help your guide, take whatever you want from them
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah but weave doesnt lead up to tactics unlike maneuvers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    This ^^^.

And tbh, I don't think you really need Tough on a farming build anyway if you know what you're doing. Sure it helps a bit, but just take some insps or a buffer.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
i dont get why you get manouvers if its worse then weave for defense?

    [/ QUOTE ]
So you can get the bonuses from defence IO sets (or just slots).
  5. [ QUOTE ]
I completely disagree with you on that one, MANY PEOPLE who don't know this set THINK that Flash freeze is a stun, and therfore are dissapointed once they realise its a sleep, as they don't read on to find out its a sleep before they take the power, however how is someone taking SuperJump gonna think its a fly?!?!

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nowhere in the power description does it say it's a stun. The power says: "Ranged (Targeted AoE), Minor DMG(Cold/Lethal), Foe Sleep". It's not like all controller primaries have an AoE stun anyway, so why should people expect Flash Freeze to be one??? I was being somewhat facetious about SJ and Fly since they are both travel powers, right? (just like stuns and sleeps are both mezzes)
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Wake up man! Since when is Cinders ranged?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Whoops, my bad... I dropped it so long ago that I still have the Flashfire animation in mind

Anyway, my comments were not meant to be derogatory to the OP, but to be constructive. I was either pointing out factual mistakes (some of which have since been edited, but not all: "The target is frozen solid, helpless, and cannot be attacked" about Block of Ice for example) or where imo the suggestions are not necessarily very good (like saying Ice Slick is "pointless" if you already have Frostbite). You could also say a few things about how the sets synergise well (e.g. stacking slows) or some good power combinations (like using an AoE sleep before Fulcrum) and maybe explain some basic concepts (like mezzes, or containment). I'm not saying every guide needs to be filled with numbers, but you should try to be precise, especially if this is geared towards new players. Saying that if you take a sleep power you might be surprised that it's not a stun is like saying you'll be disappointed if you take SJ and find out you cannot fly...
  7. It's good to want to help new players with guides, but I think you need to be a little more careful when trying to explain what powers do. For example:

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 1 Chilblain: An immobilization power that puts your target in an icy trap deals moderate DoT damage (cold) and has a fast recharge. Pretty usless compared to block of ice in my opinion

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not meant to replace Block of Ice, it's an immob! It's actually useful for several reasons: (1) it sets up containment (which strangely you don't mention at all in your guide) (2) it does decent damage at low lvls (especially with containment) (3) immobs are actually useful all the way until you fight AVs (Ghost Widow anyone?).

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 1 Block Of Ice: You can freeze a single target in a block of ice. The target is frozen solid, helpless, and cannot be attacked. all affected targets will be slowed and take moderate cold damage
    Recharge: Moderate
    Damage: Moderate
This is better then chilblain, but will be hardly used in big teams.
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]
What??? I guess you mean "can" be attacked? Unless you're on a pure farming build, single-target holds are still the bread of butter of controllers, so I would rate this much higher.

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 2 Frostbite:Immobilizes a group in icey traps, dealing minor cold DoT damage. This is where your first AoE hold comes in, How ever this power will be no use if u plan on taking ice slick at later level as they wont be falling down while held.. but i always tend to chose this over ice slick.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's not a hold, it's an immob. And it's not incompatible with taking Ice Slick, you just don't use them on the same group at once...

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 6 Arctic Air: Looks pretty, and you're surrounded in a fog, you can slot this power with confuse, fear or movement, i like to go for confuse for the easy cheap purple set, that gives a nice +4% recovery and +10 rech. this however deals no damage
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ermmm OK, pretty and all, might want to be more specific about what it does: major -rechg, strong -movt, Mag 3 confuse, -stealth.

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 8 Shiver: A nice move that slows movement and recharge of foes, this is a cone power so hits the lets say 3 enemies infront of you, but not to the verry side. a verry good power if you plan on doing PvP, or going up again AV's etc, a nice power over all
    Recharge: slow
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]

Good power, although you might consider only one of Arctic Air or this. For a kin I would probably stick with AA since you will be in melee quite often.

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl12 Ice Slick: A location Knockdown AoE power, causes most foes to well fall obviously :P their movement is also slowed, this power is next to pointless if you have frostbite, but can be essential if you dont!
    Recharge: slow
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]
See above. Great power. Never skip.

    [ QUOTE ]
lvl 18 Flash Freeze: Most people judge this power WAY too quickly, to actually see its full potential, i always pick this power for 2 main reasons:
    1) if you're in a fairly large team, and you attack one mob consisting of lets say 12 villains, while another mob is close by and will probably be aggro'd on, then you can use this power so that mob sleeps and takes no notice of you killing th main mob untill attacked
    2) Like arctic air easy and cheap purple set that gives a nice +4 recovery and +10% recharge
However if you pick up this power think its the equivilant of flashfire or stalgmites, you're in for a surprise, as the foes put to sleep will wake if attacked.
    Recharge:Slow
    Damage:Minor
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]
Why would you think it's a stun, if it's a sleep???

    [ QUOTE ]
    lvl 26 Glacier:
One of my favourite its like block of ice, only an AoE hold, equivilant to cinders and volcanic gasess in the fire and stone controller sets, if it wasn't for the recharge could be on of the best powers in the set i always have this, even if it is a conflict with ice slick, the slow recharge makes up for it, as you dont have it for every mob
    Recharge: Very Long
    Rating:

    [/ QUOTE ]
The closest to this power is actually Flash since they are both PbAoEs (while Cinders is ranged and VG is a location-based AoE). And why is this "in conflict" with Ice Slick???

    Too tired to keep going...

    Anyway, nice guide I guess...
  8. I agree with what the others have said and you should also consider taking Maneuvers instead of Assault (which is useless after Fulcrum) because it gives you more slots for defence IO sets. Kin is a lot about +rechg, so look for sets which give you this bonus (perma-Hasten is nice). I usually don't put more than 2 slots into SB, it's really all the +recov you need for your team-mates. And yes, definitely take Hasten and Hover!

    Have fun!
  9. Looks like we already have a few plant/storm trollers, so I'll play Psychill (cold/psy defender).
  10. [ QUOTE ]
id liek to try my rad/psi vs ur dark/en im on union give a tell to @psydock

    [/ QUOTE ]
Can we place some bets on this?
  11. hehe... gratz Globey... now learn how to play the damn thing you n00b
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if powerboost boosts the effects of fulcrum shift? I am currently running an ill/kin controller and was wondering what powers powerboost erm.. boosts

    ta

    [/ QUOTE ]
Pre-I12 PB guide: clicky. A few things have changed now (e.g. overall effect has been reduced, no longer affects k-back, no longer stacks).
  13. Okton

    Overpower?

That's right, it's just a visual message of when your mezzes crit (20% chance per mob hit, extra mag 1), but nothing has changed. So no, it shouldn't appear more often on fire/kins than others
  14. This might be a fun way to get back in game for me when I12 comes, so sign me up for a plant/storm troller (or a cold/something def if there are already too many /storm trollers).
  15. A few things you can try:

    - Make sure you use Rad Infection first, so mobs are less likely to mezz you and choose good anchors.
    - Use the environment to your advantage (e.g. hiding behind objects, pulling around corners, etc.).
    - Team with someone who can give you mez protection (sonics, thermals, kins, etc.).
    - Increase your defence (shields, purple insps, etc.).
    - Shrug your shoulders and turn on your toggles again.

    Have fun!
  16. [ QUOTE ]
They've nerfed/fixed the FF+rech in i12 so you might want to spam it extra hard if you have it in a singletarget attack

    [/ QUOTE ]
    oh noes!
  17. Build looks good. Just a few small things:
    - I'm not a big fan of Choking Cloud on trollers (especially ranged ones like Illusion), so I wouldn't take it.
    - The set bonuses from GW's Embrace are a not great. I would probably slot 3 Endos 2 Rechg in Flash and some dmg in Blind (which could really use a 6th slot btw, maybe from Spectral Wounds?).
    - PA: I've never used the pet BU proc, so not sure how useful it is here. Swapping it for a Rech might further reduce your PA downtime, although it might not make much of a difference with all the +rechg you already have.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
fire blast has higher damage o/p than spectral and recharge difference is minimal.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not really (from City of Data):
    [ QUOTE ]
    Spectral Wounds
    50.16 Psionic Damage
19.57 Psionic Damage (after 10 second delay) [Ignores Enhancements & Buffs]

    [/ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    Fire Blast
    33.64 Fire Damage
    4 * 3.06 Fire Damage over 3.10 seconds (after 0.5 second delay) (80% chance)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
Had the primal epic for a bit but the PB and conserve power wouldnt really help me a lot taking out mobs as quikly as possible, though PB is great with AM.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actaully PB only affects the movement speed from AM. But I find it quite useful for longer holds, fear, confuse, tht/def (de)buffs, heal, slow, end drain, etc. It's a not a very 'sexy' epic, but it gets the job done (YMMV).

    [ QUOTE ]
edit...and blind ive got slotted for sleep basically for the cheap purples 10% recharge is helping my PA

    [/ QUOTE ]
OK, but I still think it's a bit of a waste of your single-target hold. Maybe look elsewhere for more +rechg bonuses?

edit: for example, for quick (and cheap) +rechg take Psi Mastery and slot a Force Feedback proc in Psi Tornado (well at least until they fix it ).
  19. Considering ill/rad will never be a great farming toon, I wouldn't go with the Fire epic, but Primal or Psi. And I would definitely not drop Spectral Wounds for the crappy Fire Blast. If you really want Tactics (not sure why?), drop Flash, not EM Pulse (which is not worth slotting for EndMod unless you use with Power Boost). Blind: I would slot for Hold/Dmg, not Sleep. Superior Invis: I would swap the Def for a 2nd EndRdx. Phant: I wouldn't 6-slot, you should be able to get decent numbers with 3-4 (HOs and/or IOs).

    Hope some of this helps...
  20. Actually, I'd say Mind is fine for solo (decent damage and tons of control options), but Sonic less so (or at least much better in teams). Also, you can't use your buffs on your pet since you don't have one.

    Solo: 3/5.
    Team: 4/5.
    Originality: 5/5.

  21. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah, Ill/Rad is a great combo, it even looks good when Archy or DB are playing it, so it's got to be REALLY good

    [/ QUOTE ]
  22. Nice guide Alvan!

    [ QUOTE ]
there is nothing more Fun as trolling around with 2 Fire/Kins at an Lvl 50 Map and see them running Amok because the always Hit, get no single Mezz, Make awsome Damage even with no FS on

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Ermm... I don't think so.
  23. I think all Drak powers are lousy.

    [ QUOTE ]
One way you could up the recharge is to find a home in a nice quick AoE power for a Force Feedback "Chance for +Recharge" proc.

Gale isn't a bad choice, since you have to pick it anyway. I went with Fissure from the Stone Mastery epic pool - I figured since I was going to be spamming it, it might as well be a power that did some damage! I went a little crazy on Force Feedbacks on my Earth/Storm - Animate Stone and Lightning Storm both got one so they can buff themselves. It's very noticeable on Stoney as he's normally more than a little slow with that hammer...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do you really notice it on rocky's attack speed? since it's only a small chance and only for 5 or maybe 10 secs iirc.

[/ QUOTE ]It's a quite high chance actually.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Until they fix it at least. Currently it fires every time instead of 10% as it should (decimal error?). And although the duration is short (5 secs) the effect is quite noticeable, at least if it's slotted in powers you spam a lot.
