I bought the cape and aura unlocks when they came out.
I was on the fence on this pack until Samuel Tow pointed out this pack is just like those, it unlocks things that are otherwise level-gated. I bought this pack shortly after that.
The weapons granted by the Centurion badge would have been nice but they'll probably pop up in a weapons pack later.
The weapons pack I'd like to see first is Rularuu weapons. Piece of cake blueside if you've got a high level character to sidekick to but Redside you're arc-holder/level gated. I was rather miffed when my friends who tagged along on the final mission of the arc that gives the weapons did not get the weapons because only the mission holder(s) get the weapons. -
Quote:Recluse is redside and redside hasn't suffered so much as a scratch yet so I don't think it'd be him.Who will die? I'm beginning to suspect it will be Lord Recluse.
My money would be on the recently recovered Hero 1, the Statesman from the other side of the pond. -

Quote:Much like that other game, the writers seem to have decided that the blueside is going to take body blow after body blow (and like it) to tell the redside story. This whole series of events hinges on the heroes being incompetent hostile jerks with tons of baggage, who more or less allow this to happen through their angst and ineptitude. And it really serves to ruin the Freedom Phalanx, when none of this would have happened if heroes hadn't made numerous, very immediately obvious mistakes. And here I thought that Synapse getting incapacitated off-screen was just a battle cut for time. I've no doubt he got tagged because he did something stupid, too.
D-list villain pulls off a Nemesis grade plot and the blue team has permanent possession of the idiotball. -
Redside: Waah! We don't want to save the world!
Summary of most posts in this thread.
Easy solution, don't run those missions. Willfully not taking the easy solution leaves taking the co-op missions away so you can't be "forced" to save the world anymore. -
Quote:Heroes never get to twist co-op missions to their benefit either, redsiders don't end up getting punished for past deeds and the Zig is little more a resort spa with a bad dress code. For every omnicidal villain there's probably a homicidal vigilante with a "red means dead" ethic, and guess what, the game doesn't cater to them either. Also with co-op content heroes are never forced to make tough choices for the greater good or to save the world. Villains are always having to help save the day out of their own self interest but they are never allowed to do it their way. Nor at any point are they allowed to twist things in such a way as they benefit.
Really what it sounds like is the redsiders want their access to the co-op missions removed, if it would stop the whining, it'd get my vote. -
Quote:That should say something about the fun factor of the arc. Between Lady Suicide Mission and the why-o-why-didn't-I-take-hasten vaccination its fun cannot be expressed in positive numbers.People hardly run this Arc alone any more and seem like everyone either trying finding someone doing the arc or forming a team for it just to get the badge and access to cimerora.
For the record, I bought the cape and, more importantly, the aura unlocks, so you should complain about that laziness too. -
If it was priced like the cape and aura account wide unlock I'd still shell out for it even if they didn't fix the bug. A couple of bucks is worth it to not have to hassle with spamming for and finding someone doing that mission.

Not being able to get vanguard merits doesn't keep you out of any zones.
Not having Dimensional Warder doesn't keep you out of any zones.
Not having this badge does. I hated key quest lines to unlock raid access for each and every character in that other game.
"Hey wanna do an ITF?" "Sure, this guy hasn't done one yet. Sonofa... Nevermind, have to go save Percy, again, have fun storming the castle." -
Quote:ID only lacks sleep and confuse +res when compared to stimulant, transfusion will take care of sleep, leaving only confuse as a hole in Kin.I am forced to take Stimulate Others and Aid Self. Stimulate Others does not replicate any power found in Kinetics. Stimulate releases others from sleep, immobile, held, fear and any other hold type effect.
Ogi, I do not even know what you're even implying. However, if you ask anyone of my SG members or those she's teamed with, they'll tell you she is a heck of a defender and appreciate her being on their team.
To put it bluntly, Kin is a buffing set that happens to have a heal. If you're dead set on playing a "healer" you're limiting yourself and your team. Heals are the weakest form of mitigation defenders have available to them. Use them when everything else fails. -
I'm currently playing on a mac and so far haven't found any 3rd party mapping programs that don't cause more trouble than they solve for the mouse to gamepad mapping though I haven't looked in awhile.
I'd love for the location targeting to go away but that'd probably be too big a change for the cottage rule. Just dropping your -res powers means going from enemy targeted to location targeted and really does break the otherwise nice flow of the archery sets. Oil slick is awesome enough to override its clunkiness of target location, target slick, fire blazing arrow, go back to enemy. -
Just give villains a permanent buff that gives them Statesman's powers after enslaving Wade as a living table. Heck, let them off a few more A-list heroes with no risk, that might stop the whining for awhile.
They get buffs and other extra rewards for everything they do already. Why not continue the bribery? -
Quote:<snark>Well, there's your problem</snark>She is an outstanding healer.
...
Likewise, using her Dual Pistols I do so in support as the team, never as an attacker like a blaster, corruptor, or dominator.
<slightly less snark>Try going for outstanding defender and see the difference.<slightly less snark>
Kin is very good at making others make things dead before you should need to rely on pool powers. Death is the ultimate debuff. Help your team apply it. You have a whole set of powers to do so. -
Quote:My main issue with the set is wishing that all of the powers were enemy targeted. I dislike location targeted powers in general, but in Trick Arrow they really interrupt my steady flow of thwipping. I skip the sonic arrow because I don't find it useful enough to make me want to use it as a location targeted ability. OSA's usefulness overrides my annoyance with its use.
My preferred input device for CoH is a gamepad. Location based powers are basically a no-go for that because of the very (over) protected nature of left click. But I love TA/A enough to play it with a mouse. Low level you can get by without disruption arrow and rain of arrows, oil slick is awesome enough to make me use mouse+gamepad to fire it off, mid-levels, not so much.
Even if they don't change the powers to be enemy targeted I would love for /macro to get some ability to target location powers at the location of what you have targeted or at your feet. Caltrops sticks out in Devices and Traps because everything else is dropped at your feet. Shield Charge is best used when you're already surrounded. Adding that to macros would still leave the functionality to set things up ahead of time.
-Per, controller grade mega stun, nothing that generates green numbers, oh how I do love that set. -

Great, so an arc villains will hate because they are "forced" to help those inept heroes, yet again, cutting into their precious purse snatching time, and heroes will once again have to save an ungrateful redside while carrying the idiotball so both their "allies" and wish-they-were-B-list villains can play them for fools, yet again.

Statesman went down like a chump.
I had a dislike for States that was probably from contact-hate for the dev Statesman and for being related to (and condoning by not squashing) Longbow with a dash of superman-is-a-dick hate. I felt sorry States. Not because of the flashbacks. He may have been a dick but that was a really crappy way to go, even for a dick. (And redside still has no losses, those better be coming in 6 and 7, with interest.) -
Quote:The fear is that if DA provides (any) meaningful growth the iTrials will lose critical mass and be relegated to Shadow Shard TF status, they'll only get done by people that want to do them specifically. No, what I said was they need to be higher than it is now in Beta so there is meanful growth but at lower rate than trials. And I said said if more folks rather go this route than the trials, then there need to a good look at what need to be done for the growth of the game.
GG (and possibly the devs) wants to protect the iTrials at the cost of DA and the non-iTrialers. -
If you can use this to confirm your alignment I'd be willing to throw some money at it so new characters can actually do WWD #1 and #2 at the levels they get access to them and *NOT* waste the once per SSA and time-gated reward tables.
Personally I don't sideswitch enough to use it for that, but not having to waste two days and 11 missions just to get the alignment power and access to A-merits would be something I'd pay for. I bought the cape and aura unlocks, while that is account wide the gameplay effect is much more trivial. -
Back when that 3/4 overhead sprite mmo first started I was part of the anti-"Toon" movement and it seemed like most of it was coming from forever crack players though I'm sure you could trace "toon" all the way back to Longitude (13x4)+7 and further back to muds.

I'm a VIP but I only see beta forums for issue 21 which is the current issue and I22 is the one in beta or am I completely missing the actual beta forums?
-
The way +0s are getting talked about is the way the other game talks about "bads" and "scrubs" so as a convenience you can shorten a lot of the arguments to "I don't want to carry bads".

Quote:Casual? Especially in casual-stock-standard-enhancements-are-all-that-you-need(ed) CoH?But if they go too big, that would remove the casual style of the Trials.
Anyways, since the rest of the post was about devs the go big or go home was directed at them. You don't do a good endgame on a shoestring budget or a skeleton crew. You've got the snowstorm's budget and manpower or you shouldn't do one at all.
