I still feel like a better solution would have been to just make the respec a repeatable reward from the TV trial (at any level) or to add a repeatable lv 45-50 trial, but at least we have something, and who knows, if people can be hit by lightning and win the lottery, make the unlucky can finally score an extra respec, lol.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think I'd prefer that. The trials wont die, respecs are available for all, they could still limit how many you can have at a time if they wanted to.

It just bothers me a little that as the game has gone on we have seen some zones become less used, monsters get ignored and now respec trials might now go the same way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Trial Pool D recipe rewards.

You'd be surprised at how popular respec trials have become precisely for this reason.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd be very suprised, since I rarely see people ask about them and it always seems hard to form one

You can get them in other trials too. More fun trials, at that. Standing around for five minutes for the next wave because you took the last lot out quickly gets quite dull.

I just don't want respec trials to go the way of hazard zones and monsters. All it needs IMO is a shot in the arm, something utilising the kind of thing that the game can now do since it was put in.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
Ok, I may be howling alone at the moon, but why do the devs CARE how many times we respec?!? What's the big deal? It doesn't hurt the game if I change my stuff around, so why not give free specs as often as we want to? This just seems like a ego-tripping control issue to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They don't want people to tailor their character to what they are about to do maybe?
  4. Jeez, I barely ever use a respec. I don't know how some of you do it

My only worry is that this will make it even harder to get on respec teams, which I think has become harder since the vet rewards. Might it be a good idea to update the respec trials, to give people more motivation to use them?

It just bothers me a little that as the game has gone on we have seen some zones become less used, monsters get ignored and now respec trials might now go the same way.

    This does look promising.

My only concern.. are you going to lock us out of test server again? This new ritual, started with i9 I think, has got to stop. You didn't used to lock us out of test server

    [/ QUOTE ]

So we can have another issue 7? No thank you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed, would rather have small amount of testers.......as long as I'm one of em

    [/ QUOTE ]
I haven't yet got into a closed Beta, but I fully agree with them doing it. They open it to the public, they end up with 2-3 days where no real testing is going on, just a lot of servers dying. That then slows down getting it to live. You put it in a closed beta first, you find out about the major bugs before you let the general public in.
  6. If a dev reads this, do Scrappers get any blunt weapons?

Good issue, by the way. You've even got me interested in FLashback
  7. I don't mind another bladed set, I just wish it wasn't the only one we were getting. I mean, it's not exactly the most heroic style out there, stabbing people on the street to death. It's not like there aren't non-stabby melee styles to be used still. As of the next issue 5/7 of Scrapper sets will involve stabbing, quite specific considering how many characters in comics could be considered scrappers. Couldn't they have changed the knives for batons a la Daredevil or Nightwing, or added it at the same time as Streetfighting, Psychic blade, staff or what have you?

On another note, I hope polls having a say in future content doesn't become a more common thing. I dunno, I prefer the developers to decide where the game goes over the players. Especially when the poll isn't even going to be known of by a lot of the players, just the ones who post on the boards or who get told by people on the boards.
  8. I like the fact that the Hami is being updated, but I have a few concerns.

    - My main issue with Hami raids hasn't been resolved - griefers. Indeed with less people per raid, they will now be WORSE. Someone spawning a Kronos is irritating for 80-100 people, what would it be like for 50?

    - Firstly, I think the 50 cap is too low. If there is any sort of organised raid time, we could well end up where 50 will raid, 20 will sit in the other instance knowing they have missed their chance. Plus, what happens if they disconnect?

    - The 24 hour rule means that someone could play at the same time every day, and not get his enhancement because a raid was completed faster than the previous time. Could it not be made to a literal day (Being defined by a set timezone) or 20 hours?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Here's the writeup of his speech.

The only thing that jumps out at me - he claims bases are unpopular because people don't like paying money to contribute to group identity. I don't think that's correct. I think they're unpopular because
    1) they're too expensive for casual players, and
    2) they don't have anything to do with our day-to-day activities in CoH/V.

    Now,
    - make them cheaper
    - let us place NPCs, scriptable bosses, and a scripted win condition in them
    - let us open them up to other players to run as missions
    - get raids working
and see if that makes them more popular.

    *waves magic wand*

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think he is right. A costume is me, a base is a group of people, some of which can't get a say and the others can totally edit others' work.

That's why I wish personal residences could somehow get integrated - it gives the best of both worlds.

Is there any way for someone not in a SG to do this?

It would be a nice compromise since player apartments were scrapped.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    They've been scrapped?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, the dev's replaced the player apartment idea with the new low cost base items. I think the reason was that player apartments would be mostly eye candy with little substance, and the dev's did want to waste resources on something that had no useful game function.

I would have loved a personal apartment for my mains.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Same.

Like said above, I think the big problem with bases is that it isn't neccesarily done by me. I spend ages on a costume, and everyone around sees my costume. I join a SG, and I can go in a base someone else made. Even if I edit it (I think I have the privilages), someone else will just remove it the next time we have an overhaul. The base basically becomes a place I can go to teleport to zones quickly.

I understand the point that the devs probably don't want us in some little contained area, but that's what bases basically end up as. People don't PVP because they can't afford it or don't want the griefing, so it becomes something only they use. So it basically becomes a self contained little area they didn't create.

One little idea for how to make personal homes more than just a personal thing. Have it where you can put anyone onto your homes "allowed" list (With obviously, a way to not let anyone in). Maybe even a way of joining a group of houses. When in your house, you can TP to any home that has you on the access list and is allowing visitors (Complete with an indicator of how many people are inside). Thus, your home is now also a meeting place, AND something to show off.

Anyway, in regards to Safeguard missions, I always thought that it would be kind of like cleaning up after a mayhem mission, with civilians trapped under rubble you'd have to destroy, putting out burning buildings, stopping villains who've taken advantage of the chaos to run wild in the streets.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Ooooo!

    That sounds downright nifty!

    [/ QUOTE ]

yes it does!!! Read this states and Posi!!! Give the players what they want!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Someone grab this idea and PM to Posi! That would be so freaking cool. Double so if the safeguard mission ended with you entering the bank to thump the villan(s) trying to steal the money.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I like that idea. I don't want heroes to basically have the same thing as villains, I WANT something different.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
For example, one thing I'd really love to see is base invasions by NPCs. You get some item in your base (maybe it's loot, maybe it's a person), and you have to protect them in your base. Not only would that give you a reason to be in your base, but it'd also give you a reason to utilize some aspects of the bases (ie defense) that are largely ignored by the non-PvP SGs.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That would be brilliant. That way, a base would have a reason to be carefulyl built if you were in a non PVP group.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
It would be a nice compromise since player apartments were scrapped.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    They've been scrapped?
  15. I do think however, that the 24 hour limit should be changed to 20 hours. It is still basically once a day, but it means that someone isn't going to not get a SHOE because he starts playing at the same time but one SF takes longer than another.

OR, make it so that it is actually one SHOE per actual day. Between 00:00:00 and 23:59:59 server time, you can only get one SHOE. That way, playing at different times each day doesn't matter.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
So, once every 24 hours, and only 7 people to trade with?

    [/ QUOTE ]
This will probably mean MORE to trade with, as people can do the SF at any time, meaning people who can't make Hami raids will be getting them. Right now, Hami raids need organisation. The Recluse SF will need 8 people at any time.
  17. Question for those saying that the villains need to catch up - Do you think it is balanced that because some heroes have been around 2 years, Villains should be able to get lots of SHOEs quickly? Doesn't that make it unbalanced the other way, as new heroes then get HOs slower than new villains?
  18. [ QUOTE ]

The invisibility in it...has gone onto the list with Jump kick and Phase Shift and team teleport......the list of powers that work but for practicle purposes they are basically for show.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Being able to work through the majority of missions and kill a few people (And sometimes, you can click a glowie without people noticing you) is "basically for show"? Or the fact that the majority of people cannot see you?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, one more quick note. Why should everyone be able to get Stealth anyway? Seems more like an AT or AT Power Set to me. Kinda like Stalkers on COV. After all. How may Stealthy Blasters do you see in the comics? Or Stealthy Tanks for that matter? Some things make more sense if taken in a different context.

If they were to add new patrons, I'm sure they will give everyone a chance to change. They never said the PPPs will always be permanent. Most likely new PPPs would mean new patrons, who probably aren't loyal to Arachnos. They probably wouldn't care if you betrayed Arachnos to join them.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, yes, they did say that Patrons would be permanent, you cannot respec out of them. And they also said that they would laver be adding another patron that's non-arachnos in origin.

    [/ QUOTE ]
However, they never said that you wouldn't be able to ever have more than one Patron. What if, for example, you could have one of the four we know of, and then one of four other people?
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
So...time to find a new patron. Aside from being a whiny loser, Black Scorpion's brute powers suck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, since most of the brute PPP's blow regardless of what patron you have, I'd go Black Scorpion and only get Web Envelope for PvP purposes. Nothing like nerfing half the travel powers in the game with a single power.

  22. [ QUOTE ]
I like the idea more than the execution. This really isn't wholesale destruction. Smashing parking meters and cardboard boxes doesn't make me feel particularly uber. It feels incomplete. Where's the Hulk: Ultimate Destruction-level chaos? Mayhem Missions should be more like the Rhino fight prelude in Ultimate Spider-Man where you're chasing Rhino through big, gaping holes he's made in buildings, only this time around you're the one making the holes. This is a decent starting point, but big powers should leave big craters, if you know what I mean.

Also, invulnerable citizens need to go the way of the dinosaur. I'm the bad guy. It's my job to pick on the helpless. Make citizens smashable.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I would think that killing innocents would force them to up the rating on the game, which would require repackaging, which could be quite costly.

    [ QUOTE ]

Since we are experincing problems with the mission time counter - it would be best if the countdown timer did not start UNTIL we entered the mission. Since the timer does not display when we accept it from our contact there is no way to see how much time is lost between accepting it (def. not 11 minutes to travel 400yds and zone) and actually entering the mission.

    [/ QUOTE ]

In my experience, the countdown timer -does not- start until you actually enter the zone.

The bug here is that the countdown timer is not starting at 20:00 - it started at 20:00 once, then it's been 15:00 on the two others I've done so far.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think you're right. I have waited outside a mission for ages for my team to all be ready to go in at the same time, and it still gives 15ish minutes, when if it was counting down we'd be on about 5

    [ QUOTE ]
What I've noticed is that the zone you get corresponds to the level range you're at. 5-10 is Atlas Park. 11-15 is King's Row. Don't know beyond that.
