Seriously - you want to pay for "priority access," even *disconnecting* other players who don't play, but you won't use that same money to move to a server where you just *won't* have that problem... or even NOT pay and just roll an alt?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep. Play on another server, you are making a low level alt you will never play again when the congestion clears up. Your SG gets no prestige. Its a waste.

I'm all for fairness in you personal life, but in business, if you are a bigger client you get more perks. Pay more, get more. I can't believe the game owners haven't already done this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Probably because telling your customers, "Let them eat cake" would be a horrible business move and create a sharp division in the playerbase. As if some players aren't already flummoxed by Super Booster Packs and other ad-ons as it is. And I'm not even one of them

If we must discuss absurdities, however, I say move all the lesser players onto a lesser server, so that those that deserve to play on Freedom and Virtue can do so without the peasants getting in the way

In short, what makes one player more deserving than another, besides perhaps an overinflated sense of entitlement? Money? Tenure? Server slots? Any argument for or against is fraught with problems. Tiering server access based on money will certainly chafe the frugal playerbase; same with character slots. Tenure-based access will reduce the appeal to new players.

However, since the game's creation, there have been multiple servers, not only the two more popular locations. The problem is, when everyone plays on a certain server, is that everyone plays on teh same server. It's not a problem that the developers created, not one I feel they should fix so that it can continue to compound.

Perhaps instead they can figure out a way for SGs to move servers, but that is a whole other can of worms.

No, I don't hate any particular servers - I merely disagree with making the big servers bigger while the "smaller" servers continue to have plenty of room for more. Increasing resources on high-pop servers is not the best long-term solution, only a money sink.
  7. Would it be wrong of me to use the "GONE TO THE AMERICANS" reference twice in a day?

    ...

Oops, never mind. My bad. Apologies.
  8. One could even move a character from a server and move it back later. Only real problem is losing SG info, which is relative depending on the player or character.

Improvements to the game need to keep pace with player expectations.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ironically, my current detraction from the game is my expectation of players
  10. He's talking about actual mission teleportation (to the contact), not the main entryway.
  11. There are many ideas for the game's improvement. However, how "great" they are can be entirely subjective. Even ideas that devs may think are great may never come to be due to restrictions in development and manpower. Look at I16. Power customization is probably, but it look a very long time, no thanks to CoV development using up manpower (nothing against CoV obviously), and then staff cutbacks directly thereafter.

Personally, I've had ideas that were implemented. Just because you haven't doesn't make it untrue. That's the problem with inductive reasoning - one example to the contrary can ruin the hypothesis.

Don't go crying "sour grapes" merely because none of your suggestions supposedly have never been acted upon.

Was there an undocumented change PVP IO drop rates, or the whole drop system for them entirely changed ?

If so this should have been noted here, even if flagged as an exploit fix internally and wasn't in the test notes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Bug. We're working on it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Curious why there was no Big post expressing your outrage at abusing the pvp io drop system and people being banned and ios being deleted... I guess the pve care bears didn't complain at taht last get together huh?

Oh noes carebear conspiracy! GONE TO THE AMERICANS!

What they need is an incentive for players to make characters on servers other than Freedom or Virtue, to reduce the snowballing effect. Lamentably, making such a system without it being exploitable is probably not easy.

Of course, the biggest incentive is being able to play during Double XP weekends without fear of being locked out.

In closing, capacity has been added, via the remaining servers. YMMV, of course.

Disappointed to see that the "upgrade" from XP to 7 is actually a clean install. Of course I'm planning on upgrading to the 64-bit version (running 32-bit XP Pro right now) so I guess it's really a moot issue. Just gotta figure out what I want saved, and how I'm going to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
True, but at least you're getting a "full install" for an "upgrade" price. Saves the trouble of having old programs or registry keys gumming up the works.

I'm running W7 RC 64-bit ATM, and I'll probably be buying a copy myself.

I consulted with Ray Snyder, the dev who plays Blue Steel, and he informed me that Blue Steel is a Martial Arts, Shield Defense Scrapper...

Cool! I thought I had the only one, hehe. SD/SS Tanker seems to be a much more popular choice for a weapon-less, "natural" character.

Thanks for the 411; I'll have to alter my Blue Steel NPC in my MA arc.

So from a pure character standpoint - taking your real self out of the equation - which of our characters would be an Illuminati here?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I still would select Obsidius. Even before he was a hero in this world, in his last world, once he was freed, he was a member of a couple of secret organizations that fought and shared information together. He's also brought his knowledge from his old world to this one, studies the arcane, and collects magic artifacts when he isn't watching for criminals from rooftops. He doesn't mind sharing secret knowledge, so long as it's an equal trade. He is also more of an antihero than he often lets on. He would represent the magic/ arcane aspect of the Triumph Illuminati.

Edit: Obsdiius is also OVER 9000!!!
  21. I've been playing it light lately, but I am flattered

But yes, Kay might need to be in the list somewhere. She even has her own channel
  22. Maybe not in an official booth, but in some sort of capacity. Seems plausible,
  23. Good news for me Interesting about the competition though...

    Troy Hickman?

  25. Here's what I don't get: not to make a direct comparison (but I will), but CO figured out a way to do this. Color me a little jealous.

Aside from the fact that there's supposedly a Vanguard "backpack" option already in-game for PCs (according to Positron sometime around I10), but no current way to implement it.

We've had wings since Issue 8 (2006). Jay has personally explained the problems surrounding backpacks and other back options to me before - I'm just really surprised a solution/ implimentation has not yet been found. It's just one of those irritating things I've found with the game.
