The public DEMANDS it!

But honestly, it would be nice to have these options in the next issue or two. Pweeese??

Jet packs really? Do players really want jet packs? This is the first time I have seen this request. Hmmm I don’t know about this one. I just don’t see super heroes having jet packs. Why would a superhero ever want to leave the ground? I don’t even think our game even supports flight.

One of my best Jay quotes ever

Nonetheless! Jetpacks!

It's just a problem of anchor points, I've heard.

They did the ground work with Crab Spider back packs, at least from what all evidence seems to point to. And while I know Jay is aware and this has been much suggested, I really WOULD like to see it soon. This is pretty high on my personal priority list, higher than new powersets, but not higher than new generic ATs.

My feelings exactly.

I just find this funny...

"Power list:
1. Something.
2. Hit, or something.
3. Yeah, that thing.
4. Do something else."

... etc.

Specifically, players don't have the required attachment point to hook a jetpack onto. And yes, we do have the crab packs. However, ever looked at one of those on a female character? It's not actually attached to their back at all, rather it hovers a good half a foot out from it. Similarly, it'll become embedded in the back of a huge character. (Least I think it does, I know the various temp travel packs do but I don't think I've ever looked closely at a huge spider sans uniform) Also, they don't scale very well.

I'm pretty happy with my oversized Crab backpack on my medium-sized character

I am hoping we'll get something like this in I16, as Power Customization is a rumored feature, and entirely plausible given the large ramp-up of developers that started last year, as well as some hints from Brian Clayton on the topic. Heck, if that were true, I might start having to buy my sub time a year at a time

Jetpacks and backpacks would be cool. Might make flight worth picking just for the coolness factor.

Would it be so hard to add a box to the hidden side of the jetpack? On Male and Huge models it would hide inside the character out of sight, while on females it would cover the fact that the pack is floating behind the character. Basically take advantage of the usual clipping issues for once.

Alternately, would making 3 jetpacks instead of one be that big of an issue when all you'd really need to do is modify the back end of it and make sure the animations line up with the jets?

I know its certainly more complex than I think it is, but sometimes experts miss the simple solutions as they've been trained to look for the 'right' way to do things.

Here's what I don't get: not to make a direct comparison (but I will), but CO figured out a way to do this. Color me a little jealous.

Aside from the fact that there's supposedly a Vanguard "backpack" option already in-game for PCs (according to Positron sometime around I10), but no current way to implement it.

We've had wings since Issue 8 (2006). Jay has personally explained the problems surrounding backpacks and other back options to me before - I'm just really surprised a solution/ implimentation has not yet been found. It's just one of those irritating things I've found with the game.
