Quote:If more efficient means using less brain cells and just toggling up and blasting like your average blaster/scrapper/tanker/lockdown artist controller then yes.More efficient in what way?, more damage? yes, more moves to utilize, yes. More defense via Eclipse, very much so.
More damage? lol, No. sorry. The damage bonuses given to squid form will always beat out human blasts, and anything the human only can do the Tri-Form can do with a couple less slots in it at most (and using sets the lost slots are almost insignificant).
More moves? Again no. 27 powers is "27 possible moves" while thr Tri-Form has 25 moves + another 9 "moves" from the forms.
More defence via Eclipse? Exactly how do you get past the ressist cap I seem to reach from using Eclipse on my Tri-Form? -
I see nothing wrong with your current build.
One thing to concider though is, with the amount of global recharge I am seeing as well as your slotting on Eclipse, you should have perma or near perma Eclipse.
With the amount of ressist provided by even 3-5 mobs using eclipse the need for defence based builds is dramaticly reduced. For simplicity purposes remember 30% def is roughly equivilent to(if memory serves) 60% ressist. Meaning that if your using Eclipse as often as it is up along with a 30% ranged def build your incoming damage will be almost non-existant. -
I do alot of builds for people (especialy Warshades) on the Guardian server, and while I probably could come up with something that would work, I try to discourage building Kheldian concept characters (especialy ones who avoid key powers for concept) because I believe it's a large contributer to the "squids are gimp" mindset I find prominant in nearly ever discussion of Kheldians I find myself listening to.
That said, if you want to know how to slot specific powers with specific sets I would be willing to do this. -
Quote:Would it be wrong to say "I love you man." in a totaly Kheldian sort of way?Dwarf Mire -> Human -> Human Mire -> Nova -> Nova Detonation takes 0.73+0+2.37+2.03+2.5 sec, since the change to human form takes no time. (Although timing it so you drop out of human form without queueing could add about a second to that)
Human Mire -> Dwarf -> Dwarf Mire -> Nova -> Nova Detonation takes 2.37+2.03+0.73+2.03+2.5 sec.
So that's 7.63 seconds total for the first, and 9.66 for the second. However, for the first only 6.9 seconds pass from the Dwarf Mire, while with the second only 4.53 seconds pass. Both are well within the 10 second duration of Dwarf Mire, but at best you will be able to fire Emanation and then maybe one or two blasts more for the second chain.
Likely the OP used the Dwarf->Human->Nova order because the entire chain was shorter, allowing him to take less damage before the Detonation went off. However, the Human->Dwarf->Nova order probably is better because less of the duration of the Dwarf Mire is wasted. Personally, though, if I go Human->Dwarf I'm going to stay Dwarf unless I see an opportunity to switch forms.
It is true, though, that just after a Dwarf Mire in Dwarf form, you have enough time to go Nova, drop a Detonation, and then return to Dwarf form to continue attacking and even renew your Mire.
This, is exactly what we need to see more of when discussing Kheldians and their respective builds. Numbers. -

On topic: From memory I think Obsidian_Force is correct that it works out as a 2.5% damage bonus, but you have to remember that a lot of that damage potential is wasted because it will go off out of combat and won't proc at all when you aren't in Nova, so overall isn't quite as good as a full 2.5% damage bonus.
I would also say that a 2.5% damage bonus is next to worthless, you may as well pop one small red every 10 minutes to get a similar average damage bonus, and reds drop much more frequently than that.
[/QUOTE]
I am also a mainly a Warshade player, infact it is my main and the character I use almost every day. 2000+ hours on it and a few thousand more hours on 5 other kheldians.
That is a 2.5% global damage boost to damage inflicted while in squid form. None of that potential is wasted at all. It is exactly as good as a 2.5% global damage boost while in squid form.
I would'nt say a 2.5% is worthless any more that I would say a 3% def global bonus is worthless and yet people will pay 20 million+ for that single IO.
Ignoring all that, there is still that not as infrequent as some people like to think damage spike this proc provides.
I seriously do not know what other people are doing with their squids. Do they not solo? to where the improved damage your not getting from mooching bonuses from 7 other people on the team might matter? Do they never fight EB/AV's where their best bet is to stay outta melee and damage is at a premium? I dont know about anyone else but I like when my 166 damage blast hits for 240'ish for a couple cycles of attacks.
I run herostats I have compaired with and without the proc. The difference over a night of play is huge and anyone who can't differentiate much larger numbers from much smaller numbers needs to rethink their advice. -
And I will again dissagree. A global 2.5% damage boost while in squid form (thats total damage you do in that form over all the time your in it) from one slot is not something insignificant.
People will not think twice about slotting 3-5 slots of a set to get a 2.5%-3% damage bonus from ToD or Makos Bite or Obliteration.
Exactly how is a 1 slotted 2.5% global damage boost in your main damaging form a waste? -
Quote:Pretty sure nobody was saying anything about constantly toggling this power on and off to make it proc. What I like about it is the fact when I do switch to squid form it will make that check right away and check for proc every 10 seconds thereafter.Slotting it in a toggle that you toggle on and off constantly does nothing to circumvent the "every 10 seconds" rule. Techncally it checks every time a toggle refreshes, but every time it has a chance to go off it's forcefully suppressed and prevented from activating for ten seconds. This suppression is global; meaning no matter how much you toggle the power, you still only get a chance every ten seconds.
If you switch forms semi-regularly this is an excellent proc to have imho. -
I'm also not a huge fan of over slotting squid form (I normaly use 2-3 slots) but I do find the sudden damage spikes from the proc to be well worth the investment of the extra slot to put this in (particularly if you play the character regularly and end up facing alot of AV's where your spamming squid blasts a few million times). The fact it will check for proc immediately when you shift to squid form alone would be enough to make me slot this totaly ignoring the other "check every 10 seconds" it does.
-
What it amounts to if I remember correctly (pretty sure) is a 2.5% global damage bonus in squid form over the long haul. Decide for yourself if you think this is worth the slot it takes.

I'm not terribly upset by this. Kheldian power colors are kind of their signature, and while it is indeed easy to get lost in a crowd of nictus, it's not a deal-breaker for me.
Plus, do you REALLY want to see pink novas and dwarves? Well, do ya? Think of the children!
[/ QUOTE ]
I think of the children every day, when I eat them...
Oops.
(mental note to self: inner monologue should remain inner.) -
Admittedly my system for this power isn't optimal but...
I use the Extraction (pet) power to target a corpse (it always targets a dead one) then immediately use whatever key I have Unchain essence on.
It's a 2 button process but it has never failed to explode a corpse. -
I would so respec for my 12th time for this power.
-
Would you believe it's spelled correctly in Kheldian?
yeah... me either... -
[ QUOTE ]
Yep. I think it checks something like every 10 seconds or so. This is why my Warshade is getting a Gaussian's Synchronized Fire Control: Chance for Build Up in her Dark Nova form. Granted, that's a toggle, but it works just like an auto power would. As long as it is on the proc has a chance of going off every 10 or whatever seconds.
[/ QUOTE ]
Been using that proc on my WS for almost a year and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Do yourself a favor and ignore the "it only fires off in the auction house" people. It causes somewhat regular damage spikes that amount to a global 2.5% damage boost over time when your in squid form, for just 1 slot. Also worth slotting is the Performance shifter +10 endurance proc into Stamina.
As a side note: The build up proc also checks immediately whenever you enter squid form as the power is being activated. -

because their base damage is actually decent now.

It always was, unless of course you ignored key powers in the set. -
Lies. Do not spill the earthling scum propoganda in these hallowed forums.
Obsidian Force: Kheldian Ambassador to Earth. -
[/ QUOTE ] That's my perception of the problem of course, and YMMV and all that, but still, no one can deny that TriForm Kheldians (or even Human-only) have a playstyle to them that is usually more involved and requires more game-mechanics know-how and ingenuity.

Your answer being, the majority of humans being lazy and dumb strikes true. Lucky for us we are Kheldians.
Obsidian Force: Kheldian Ambassador to Earth. -
And they do own. But when the general concensus of players who don't know much about Kheldians is they are gimp, it makes me wonder what sort of builds and styles they "have" played with to have such an outlook.
I do not believe if the majority of Khelds owned there would be such a unilateral opinion of us being a gimpy AT.
I think this fact alone requires we ask ourselves "why is it so?". -
While I agree in spirit with Pipsy, the truth is the main reason imho Kheldians are STILL stamped with the gimp lable, is because they are not standardized as other AT's are. There ARE many ways to build a Kheldian and most will "work", but there is ALWAYS a most efficient, most effective manner to do anything.
This is why people found the perfected builds on other AT's. They realized that yes you can build it any way you like but with only a few alternate possibilities "this" one will yeild the best results.
Kheldians have never gone through this stage of the game because the high end players of the AT are ok with the Kheldians being the "scrapperish tank with jump kick and flurry attacks" concept characters. And nobody "myself included" is willing to accept that their methods might not be the most effective.
Their content to play the AT as what they invision it to be and not look at the hard performance numbers until a single (again with a few alternate options for individual taste) best type of build can be achieved.
And possibly worse yet when it is suggested that certain build ideas are performance wise superior, there is a general "well the way I do it works fine." attitude that wont argue that it's not a better numerical plan but also will not acknowledge that it is infact better than what they are doing so that other or new Kheldian players can take advantage of knowing what the most effective builds are.
This imho is what leaves the Kheldians in such a mediocre state as we have today. -

One end mod. I've never needed anything more.

If I am not in situations where I regularly have to hit Stygian every 15 seconds for the sake of staying alive, then I really need to up my slider and quit slacking. -
The term "Tankmage" originated in fanatasy games and has since crossed over into most if not all games to signify a character with both superior defensive and offensive abilities well beyond the norm.
But honestly I think your just dodging things you don't wanna see. -
Sorry LordXenite gonna have to dissagree again.
We run the all Kheldian SG on Guardian (Night Watch)
Inky running is always a good idea but with a couple Ws's porting in and opening with eclipse and mire, and followed by a nuke or two nothing at all remains and your all petted up and moving onto the next group still fully buffed to the gills.
We find the use of medicine, presence, and concealment pools redundant as you already have self heals, stealth (if WS) and plenty of control powers already.
We don't believe in the support role for kheldians as we already have the buffs, status ressists, and heals required to be a steamroller of mobs even set to the highest 2 difficulties. If you require something along the lines of debuffs to drop an AV or GM then nothing in the pool powers will help you.
Rommulous has been known to stun some tanks and most scrappers when he rezzes but this isnt enough mag to stun dwarf form. Outside of a couple very rare AV's (GW comes to mind) stimulant will do nothing for a dwarf form since I seriously cannot remember any missions where a tank or even scrapper gets mezzed, even by piles of enemies, and malta sappers do nothing when they die in 3 seconds in a hail of fluffy/squid purple rain damage. And even if the sapper tags you before he dies screaming "OMG teh purple rain is here, it's the end times." you now have a large pile of corpses to be eatten for a full endurance bar.
I cannot debate the epicness of team wipes because I seriously can't remember the last time we had one. -
I seldom get involved in the whole MA debate but I had an idea. What if MA put you into an exemped type status no matter what level you were, where you wouldnt earn xp but would earn double influence and prestige as well as the tickets?
