  1. I'd suggest, given what you're looking at spending, you compare the bonuses with this and also the results you're getting from the individual powers.

Accuracy is a less important bonus on this than most others - you will get so much -defence from the build.

I actually decided to go with a posistron's blast proc in sleet, over the appocolypse proc in Cosmic Burst.

Ice/kin looks really nice but having to buff at least 14 targets every 2 mins ... painfull.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think that Ice/Kin (or Fire/Kin) would work really nicely. As someone else said, a buff orientated set would compliment all your debuffs quite nicely, but I absolutely promise you there's no way I'd speed boost your pets - apart from the fact it'd be too much hard work, you have no idea how much trouble speed boosted pets can get themselves into. It's like giving speed to a child with ADD.

However, speed boost on the 3 MMs gives you nice quick recharge on all powers, and means you quite possibly could run without stamina on them if you intended to keep that team together for most of your play time. Increase density is a nice buff for if anyone gets held, and the damage buffs from Kinetics are going to make your pets really shiney! The heal is mele, based around target, and very good, so if you're sending your pets charging in the kin should do a good job of helping keep them alive.

The only thing Kinetics doesn't have is much in the way of damage mitigation, and the three MM secondaries are going to do that anyway.

Fire/Rad and dark/cold would also work, but a /kinetic in that team, at higher level, is going to have a much bigger impact on that team mix in my opinion.

Edited to add: Don't worry about the forum police, they're tetchy (although kind of right I guess), and forget that not everyone reads all the rules when they pick up a new game and want a bit of advice.

    *dives for cover*
  3. With a /Dark and a /TA in the team, I'd probably suggest an AOE heavy primary, maybe Fire Blast for the maximum damage - although Ice Blast also kicks out pretty fair AOE damage, and excellent ST damage (and is a safer option to play, in a lot of circumstances). Radiation Blast is lower damage, but provides excellent debuffage as well, and still has some nice AOEs. I wouldn't go for a set that does KB, but anything else could work.

Secondary, really, anything but traps (which just seems to work better as a MM set) should work absolutely fine - they're all good in their own way. A Kinetic secondary to help out with endurance I could see being particularly useful.

Picking corruptor or Dominator, I'd say a Dominator would be safer in a team like that for a new player, but I'd also think a corruptor would probably be a lot more fun (Disclaimer: I'm biased, I love corruptors, when I make a new character people say "so, what type of corruptor this time, then?").
  4. From chatting to people last night, this is looking like a popular enough idea to at least make it worth trying out.

I will sort out channel invites to "OVTeaming" later on. Watch the message of the day for events, and if anyone wants a particular TF, let me know. If there's enough inerest from our guys too, I'll be happy to set it up.

On a related note, the "master of" attempts will probably not happen more than once every week or two. I enjoyed the runs last weekend, but that was just too much concentration wise to do again in one weekend any time soon! I do have a reasonable list of people who'd like to do one, both hero and villain side, and intend to work down that in order of being asked as far as is possible while keeping teams that can run it. The next MoSTF we do, I would look to invite the people who joined for the failed one last time if you want to join - the team was quite clearly capable of doing it, we breezed straight through the trickier parts, just expect me to nag about paying attention and sticking together in the easy bits too!

Look forward to teaming with you soon.

    Cheers,

    Wyxie
  5. Even if we did comically balls up a really easy part of the MoSTF last night, eh?
  6. I mumbled something about this ages ago, and never got round to doing anything about it.

Lately we've got shockingly sociable, and teamed regularly with quite a few people from outside our SG for TFs and SFs, most of whom use Teamspeak with us and (I hope) have enjoyed yourselves as much as we have.

We’re looking at inviting people we like teaming with (and vice versa) to our SG's global channel, really just to make it simpler to organise stuff.

My intention would be to use the message of the day to put up times/dates and available spaces in TFs and SFs, rather than me sending tells every time we organise something and have a couple of spots free, or other people sending me tells asking us what we're up to. Basically I just want to use it as a way of quickly letting people who team with us regularly know what stuff's being run, and what spots there are free (we normally have one or two in most things we do), so you can just let me (or whoever is organising) know if you want to come along.

I don't think the channel will be particularly heavy on chat. We're not a huge SG and we tend to use teamspeak to talk a lot of the time anyway, this really would be just for convenience of organising stuff.

If you team with us a bit, and think this is something you'd be interested in, reply here, drop me a PM or a global message, and if it looks viable I'll be setting it up over the next couple of days.

    Cheers,

    Wyxie

  8. What sort of budget are you looking at for this build, if you don't mind me asking?

Just because you may not be able to afford the best sets, doesn't mean you can get something that'll be good, and still a considerable improvement on a standard non-set IO or SO build. Often even without the best of set bonuses, slotting set IOs still gives you a fairly big improvement on the power itself. The best AOE sets are quite expensive, but sets like Thunderstrike are pretty cheap and give an accuracy and end recovery bonus, and the end mod sets while not all really cheap, don't break the bank, and once they're working properly, they'll give a really noticable difference on the endurance side of things.
  9. Without wanting to sound too harsh, I think you're gimping your build a bit in an attempt to get a particular bonus (damage). Char, for example, I think needs slotting with holds, RoTP isn't worth slotting for damage really, and consume is better slotted for end mod in my opinion. Also, inferno doesn't really need accuracy slotting at all.

Compare your build to this build. This is built around the idea of throwing out as much damage as possible, as fast as possible, having the endurance to do it, and staying alive to do it!

She's less damage bonuses, but will do more damage over time because of a considerably better recharge time on aim and build up (30 seconds with hasten, as opposed to around 40 on your build), and slightly better recharge time on the key AOEs. With the recharge bonuses and slotting in consume she has no endurance problems at all, and can keep up an absolute barage of AOEs. She can also perma hold bosses quite easily, even if they're higher level. I haven't majorly reviewed this build (other than to look at end mod sets) since i10, but it's overall damage output is really nice, and the survivability is excellent (a few hitpoint bonuses, and aid self with quick recharge, and virtually uninterruptable). If I PvPed with her I'd swap out the recharge IOs in aim and build up for HOs, but on a PvE build it really didn't seem worth it to me (given the accuracy bonus she has anyway, I simply don't need to spend that money).

Chance for +end is absolutely worth it on a fire secondary blaster. Consume costs virtually nothing to fire, so if you get a tick after nuking, you're sorted without a blue.

  12. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the "master of" attempts last night and tonight. Last night was close, tonight was the dogs. Okton, I need it on my thermal corruptor still - when you're not being familied, we have to drag you along for one of the other master of runs!

Amber, join us for the next run, was a bit of a whim doing one today, did message you but guess you weren't around!

Cheers again to the team tonight, particularly our brutes (Pryroclastic Joe and Evil Incarnate) in the last mission, that was some bloody awesome aggro holding juggling six heroes between you, but great play all round from the whole team. I'll put some nice screenies of you all looking handsome on our gallery tomorrow.

Very chuffed with badge, really fun SFs, generally happy Wyxie.
  13. My SG will be running this TF tonight (7:30pm UK time), and would like the opportunity to get a couple of willing victims killed with us! How can you refuse an offer like that?

Two spots free currently, please post here or send me a PM if interested with level and AT.

    Cheers,

    Wyxie
  14. That is a great SF, undoubtably the best TF/SF in the game, and surprisingly short. Soooo many heroes though! Peppermint Cream had much fun.

Cheers to those who joined us, that was a mean team once we got going, particularly for the hero bashing. I'll let you know when we do the "master of" attempt.
  15. OK, make that two spaces now. I could particularly do with a Rad secondary corruptor if anyone has one, and would like to join us.
  16. My SG will be running this tonight, and has three spaces free.

Looking for corruptors, MMs and possibly a dominator or a brute.

Drop me a PM or reply here with AT if you're interested.

    Cheers,

    Wyxie

Edited to add: This isn't a "master of" attempt - a lot of the team hasn't done it before, just a normal run through, will attempt to get the other badge next time.

    Rad/Cold Build

Thanks for your comments, and I do indeed enjoy this corruptor.

As previously stated I like the power picks I have, and don't intend to change those. They work for me and I don't find mez or survivability an issue particularly. I'm pretty set in what I'm looking for from the build in set bonuses. I find I use Neutron Bomb as part of my attack chain, although Irradiate is most definitely a better power, I can't constantly cycle it. Sleet and Atomic Blast have longer recharge, without Neutron Bomb there will be a definite gap in the AOE attack chain.

Mez resistance IOs would feel like a waste when I can (and do) just carry break frees, and they wouldn't stop me getting stunned etc in the first place.

Just as an aside, I actually find Heat Loss better used before the nuke in a lot of circumstances. I tend to use Sleet-Heat Loss-Aim-Irradiate-Atomic Blast. That way I get the -res from Heat Loss before nuking. I find this makes the difference between almost killing the luitenants, and killing them. As soon as the +recovery kicks in with stacked up Heat Loss I can retoggle and attack while still gaining endurance, if anything survives. It normally doesn't.

I'm still undecided on the proc in Cosmic Burst. I'm edging towards getting a second damage proc in sleet instead. I don't think there's going to be anything I can do to get more recharge out of it. I had hoped I might find a way to make hasten, benumb and heat loss perma, but it looks like I'll be a few seconds short on all three.
  18. I have to disagree for a variety of reasons.

Attacking people when they want to be left alone has nothing to do with "honour" or lack thereof. Some people would like the PvP zones to be used primarily for PvP and in the manner that you have to assume they were intended to be. Fostering an expectation that people should be left alone under whatever circumstances they happen to feel are appropriate for them, whether it be badges, dualling or farming, doesn't help the (already often crappy) atmosphere in PvP zones. OK I might not actually repeatedly kill someone if it's obvious they can't win and they aren't bothering me in any way, but it's not a discussion I'll generally get into with people because it always backfires, I'll just go selectively blind on occasion.

Anyone mithering to be left alone, particularly for farming or dualling, tends to have the red rag to a bull effect on me, normally because I know the same people will generally turn from asking nicely to a torrent of abuse at the flick of a switch.

Sometimes I go in the zones to do things other than PvP, but it's always with half a mind on the fact I may get attacked. I don't see why PvPers should cater for non PvPers in PvP zones when there's the possibility to completely and totally avoid PvP in this game if you choose to do so.

I guess I just don't have a lot of patience in general for many people in PvP zones. I cannot think for the life of me why.

    Rad/Cold Build

    Cheers for the suggestion.

I had thought about slotting Infrigidate for -def, but it actually has lower -def than some other powers in the build, bearing in mind this is radiation primary, which gives 10-40% defence debuff on every attack, rather than an ice primary, which is more "common", although I appreciate that Infrigidate has a good duration on the -def.

I could only really see that being useful if I started doing a lot more PvP, in which case I'd probably slot the power more heavily all round, and definitely with defence debuff, for PvE, the AOE -def powers do more than enough.

    Rad/Cold Build

Time to blow some serious pennies on one of my corruptors.

I'm looking for recharge, primarily, enough plus recovery the build will work on a pre-heat loss exemp, +hit points, and +accuracy, plus as much damage as possible.

There's enough recovery in there for what I need, with the purple sets slotted I may not actually need the miracle, so I'll probably put a regular heal IO in health when I do the respec to start with, then put the miracle back in if I need it. There's already enough +accuracy that with the -def of the sets themselves, there should be no accuracy issues at all for me or my team. Really the question is, what procs to use for the best overall effect, and have I missed anything that might squeeze out a bit more in the way of hitpoints or recharge from the build?

I'm particularly unsure about the procs. I'm not convinced that the one in Cosmic Burst wouldn't be better replaced with the Positron's Blast Energy Damage proc in either Neutron Bomb or Sleet, but I have to say more single target damage would be nice.

    Any comments appreciated.

I like the powers I have, I don't want to change any of them, I know the choice of epic isn't ideal but the shield suits the character more than the energy one would do, and look is important. I like to have at least one jump IO in the leaping powers, and don't intend to change that.

The build is primarily for PvE, I use it a little for some zone PvP, but it's not really a PvP build.

  21. *points and giggles*

You're just a little fluffy black pompom.
  22. On my Rad/Cold I've gone for:

    Level 35: Sleet -- LdyGrey-DefDeb/Rchg:50(A), UndDef-DefDeb/Rchg:50(40), LdyGrey-DefDeb/Rchg/EndRdx:50(40), UndDef-DefDeb/Rchg/EndRdx:40(50)

All at level 50. I just slotted 4 recharge and a def debuff until level 47, and while the set bonuses are OK (1.5% hitpoints and 2% damage), I slotted it like that more for the "six slots for the price of four" on recharge and defence debuff.

Edited to add: As suggested, if you wanted damage from it, you could use the last two slots for damage procs. My build is a bit too tight on slots for me to do that. Plenty of other nice AOEs to slot.
  23. *waves*

Good to see MoX still going strong, we used to play with you guys a fair bit in Planetside - not sure if you were around then.

Unfortunately, there is slightly more chance of hell freezing over than me getting on a computer at my mother in law's this afternoon at 6:00, but have fun.
