    Rad/Cold Build

    [ QUOTE ]
Just as an aside, I actually find Heat Loss better used before the nuke in a lot of circumstances. I tend to use Sleet-Heat Loss-Aim-Irradiate-Atomic Blast. That way I get the -res from Heat Loss before nuking.

    Just to add:

Now that the end mod component of the End Mod sets is actually working, Heat Loss slotted for end mod like that, with 10 or 11 stacked (easily done if you've a brute in the team) will give you enough recovery to still recover endurance after a nuke, so I'd definitely be using Heat Loss before the nuke not after - if you're lucky there won't even be any toggle drop.

I had this character out for a spin last night and am still impressed by how much fun she is.

Oh, I just made an Energy/Cold to play in a regular all corruptor team. So far so good, the KB isn't causing the team any issues at the moment, despite my paranoia that it might do. She's a flier, to minimise the effect of KB and try and turn it into knock down. I'm hoping with a couple of force feedback chance for +recharge I can do a very good build fairly cheap (would be helpful, as this is a defiant character, where I'm skint at the moment).
  3. Edited: Ignore me. Someone already said it.
  4. Have to say I think Ice is far better than Rad for soloing (and a bit better than Fire).
  5. Frost Breath, very narrow cone, but good damage - works great if you've a herding brute around.

Ice Storm, again, great damage, works great with any immobilise or slow powers. As with all damage over time powers, brilliant once scourge starts kicking in.

Blizzard - the dogs nads for much the same reason, makes the Ice Blaster version look weak in comparison.

Ice is pretty decent for AOE damage if you want it to be.

    Rad/Cold Build

    Hehe.

If I'm honest I actually took the Shark Skin because I wanted something that matched the character colour wise, and it was the closest I could get! In fact mixed with the aura I have on her, and Arctic Fog, it all round looks the part for a very angry, mutated, radioactive, peppermint cream. If you see her coming, you'll be making sure you've no sweet wrappers in your pockets, I'll tell you!

Actually, it's not too bad all round. Although overall energy resistance may be better really particularly in PvP, she can keep out of mele range quite easily, and between the resistances and benumb, Ice primary blasters (which is what I tend to see the most of, generally speaking) barely scratch.

    Rad/Cold Build

Just to add this is great for teaming. Played her through some arcs in the RWZ last night, it was a bit of a damage heavy team mix (2 scrappers, 2 corruptors, 2 controllers, 1 blaster) and a bit different from her "normal" sort of team with a herding brute, but worked great! Really noticable damage improvement with the procs. She could chain the AOEs pretty nearly, but didn't really get chance to try that out - the team was killing stuff too fast most of the time. Theoretically she could keep Frostwork on 6 people, but I didn't have herostats running and without it, I really struggle to do more than 4 at once - get distracted by bashing stuff. The only time she had any endurance problems was when I decided to try and fire Heat Loss of a caged AV.

The damage procs in the AOEs really seriously stack up, even ignoring the more expensive stuff that's in there to help with recharge, that alone was well worth it, and the ones in Sleet weren't really that expensive at all.

    Rad/Cold Build

It was a really fun build to level up.

I actually had both Neutrino Bolt and X-Ray Beam to make her soloable at lower level, and respecced out x-ray beam once I'd got Cosmic Burst. I don't really solo a huge amount, but she's been able to right the way through, even if at lower level it would have to be on villainous.

Team wise, before you get to a level where most brutes have their aggro auras or taunt, if there wasn't a lot going on debuff wise, it was a bit painful. From level 20ish onwards she's been great, but always better in a team than solo, and really the bigger the team, the happier she is. I was lucky enough to play with the same couple of brutes most of the way through from level 20 to 50 (in fact it was a pretty regular team all round) which definitely made it a more enjoyable experience.

Cold is a great set to play, it goes from being quite buff focussed at lower level, to having really nice debuffs as well at higher level.

With regard to Rad Blast, it's a set I absolutely love for teaming, and it compliments /cold nicely in that the defence debuffs really seriously stack up, but if you intend to do a lot of soloing, I'd go for something else.

Another set up that I've seen work really nicely is Sonic/Cold. The resistance debuffs in the primary work well with the defence and resistance debuffs in the secondary. That would definitely make a better soloer, although I do think Radiation Blast has a slight edge in big teams.

Ice/Cold is pretty awesome, but there's loads of them around.

    Rad/Cold Build

    Grrrrrrrr

Peppermint will be coming after you leaking radioactive sugar. If she shakes you upside down and finds sweets in your pockets, there'll be hell to pay!
  10. Some more options would certainly be a good idea.

I'd like to be able to allow access to some things, but restrict it to others. Either on a room by room or item by item basis.

I'd like to be able to allow people to take base salvage and use things like the empowerment buff creator, and the inspiration bins, hell even have their own bin if they want, without having to give them access to hundreds of millions of inf/imf worth of enhancements that some others have stored in the base.

I'd have to know someone really really well to trust them with access. Being 99.9% certain that you know them well enough to trust them isn't enough for me, when it also involves trusting them within everyone else in the SG's stuff as well as my own.

    Rad/Cold Build

Finally decided on this build below, decided the damage procs were more useful in AOEs than anywhere else. I did toy around with the idea of the Medicine pool in place of SS and Neutron Bomb, but then decided to keep to what I was going to go for in the first place - a character really dedicated to big teams that can throw out an absolute barrage of buffs, debuffs, and AOE damage. Had a little play around with this last night, and it solos very nicely for a build that's really intended to team, but planning on a full road test in a nice big team this evening.

I kept the Miracle + rec and the Karma KB IO, simply because this is a charcater that I play a lot, and exemp a fair bit. I wanted a build that'd work well down to about level 30 (about as low as I usually exemp her, I've other characters that work better for very low level play) which meant functional without Heat Loss and Acrobatics.

The only thing I haven't slotted yet, is a couple of the set IOs in Stamina - keeping my regular IOs barring the chance for +end until they're working properly.

More cash than sense? Possibly, but not by very much right now, I promise you!

  12. Cheers everyone for a fun TF and the shiney badge for Buffem and Run.

Despite being a little edgy about the whole thing, it was a very smooth run through.
  13. I know we lost global, then the OV forums went down too *fights rising state of panick*, but this is still going ahead, could you meet me by Statesman at 7:00pm UK time? Any problems, let me know here if you don't mind, so I can find replacements.

    Cheers,

    Wyxie.
  14. No, not all corruptors do what Fire/Kin does damage wise, of course, but, errr, not all defenders do what Rad/Psi does either.

Depends on the corruptor, in PvE certainly a Fire/Kin would do more damage.
  16. Hehe, although expect less TFs from us this weekend, we went into overdrive last weekend - lots of teams though me hopes, and definitely a Citadel with a spot or two free I'd imagine - will update channel motd when I've got myself a bit better organised this week.

Got too many characters I'm enjoying at the moment though!

Sorry Okton, should have used PMs for the MoSTF - will be looking to rerun it with the same team as last time, possibly one change. Next one of either flavour we do, I'll be sure to ask you! Will be looking for tanking volunteers for future attempts as Terra has (quite understandably, given the amount of tanking/bruting she's done for us!) said she'd like to play some other characters than Pyro Joe and Swampy, but that will definitely be a couple of weeks though as I'm moving next weekend (I think I might have mentioned this once or twice over the last few days ). Anyone wanting to have a go at filling Joe's boots (or Swampy's shorts) let me know!
  17. Hehe, these things happen, we all got a bit careless if I'm honest.

Be doing it again at the weekend if you're interested? Will drop you a global message when we've a definite time, but Sunday evening is looking likely.
  18. Hehe, I actually think the CoH crowd are one of the tamest accent wise in OV, although of couse that might be because they're all English and so am I - we've members from all over Europe in most games.

At some point you will probably hear a drunken Irish bloke called Algore when he accidentally stumbles into the CoH room on coms instead of the one he's aiming for and decides to stay for a chat. If you can work out what he's talking about let us know - we've been looking for someone to translate for years.
  19. Firstly, I would imagine that is quite possibly an error in the patch notes, although I haven't been on test to try it out - have to wait and see.

Secondly, corruptors are, quite frankly, awesome. I would certainly not describe them as a "poor man's defender". You have the option of playing more defensively or more aggressively depending on team, damage is impressive with the debuff secondaries anyway, and scourge is certainly one of the best inherrants in the game.
  20. Definitely not needed for the attack chain in my opinion. Fire Blast, Fire Ball and Blaze make for a good ranged chain - Fire Sword is also not a bad single target attack for all it's mele.

I actually wouldn't take either Flares or Combustion - plenty of other good stuff to go round on Fire/Fire, and also plenty of pool powers that I find very useful - actually I always end up "one power short" on my Fire/Fire whenever I look at a respec for her. All the primary bar flares is good, although I've never really found myself using Blazing Bolt that much - I'm just not a snip fan all round, and from the secondary, Fire Sword, FSC, Build Up and Consume (which will be awesome with set IOs once they fix those sets) are all well worth the pick, and I'm a big fan of fitness, leaping, speed and medicine on blasters, especially the fire one which is of course the one that pulls the most aggro!
  21. Just a quick thanks to the people who have joined and are helping make this work! Lots of fun over the weekend and latter part of last week, some great teaming, and also some drunken teaming. I think we've managed to get most of you killed at least once now! It's great to have a group of good players who hop on and chat to us while playing, even if I am still struggling with some of the accents - I'll get better. Expect more of the same in the coming week.

Keep watching the motd for "stoof". If anyone wants to plan a particular TF/SF please feel free - let me or one of the other ops know and we'll amend the motd for you. A couple of people have asked about the Mender Silos TF in particular - just sorting a time with one of the blokes in the SG who I know'd really like to do it and I'll stick a time up for that shortly - it's a fun one for a week night, short, but lots of AVs.
  22. *nods*

9 is a little late for me to be starting stuff, but assuming they start something like on time, I'll be there for the Wednesday ones.
