Sometime over the weekend, I participated in an all-ice ITF. Two ice tankers, four ice defenders (mine was one), an ice controller, and an ice blaster. It was a great time, and not just because of all the ice/cold puns.

For my blasters, my absolute favorite badge title (and it always ALWAYS cracks me up) is "Once the Victor".

As far as the art goes, I really like the Sutter TF, badge, but I think all the winged Halloween event badges are pure awesome.

    See: PVP.

  4. This is why I'm such a poor tester. How do you people find these things?

I totally agree with this assessment. Which is a damn shame, given how much effort was put into First Ward. And how it's blocked off by the golden VIP-only rope.

  6. Pointing out that the original post was made in February 2008, and that we haven't heard much from Wyll lately. Sister Flame must be about 10 now, but I see a reflection of her every time I fight the Clicky Clacks or Flambeau.

    Still carrying The Flame,

  8. I will pick it up eventually.

I love the rocket board. Many of my characters are science or tech, so it makes total sense with their concept.

Currently I only have one magic character for which this works, but it totally works. So yeah, after I accumulate some more points...

Which is why I play with "No EBs". I'd rather have fun than spew curseologues running back from the hospital.

And why doesn't the salvage tell me what tier it is, instead of forcing me to look it up every single dang time?

  12. I think the game itself is still just fine. I also think that a lot of people would be satisfied if the graphics were updated to today's standards. Like someone above-thread mentioned, EVE Online did that with their dual clients for a while, until they moved over completely to the newer, better graphics. I know that's not a trivial request, but I think it could sustain the game for a long time.

Tribes 2 was a much slower-paced game than Tribes. Community mods did bridge the gap some ("classic mod"), but it was never the same. Tribes 2 also failed to port over the game types I and all my tribemates* most enjoyed: Defend and Destroy and Capture and Hold. While I played it a lot because it was everywhere, Capture the Flag was not my passion at all.

    * In the Tribes community, it was a "tribe", not a "clan".
Yes, I did, and I much preferred the larger Tribes 2 (although I'll share your grief about Capture and Hold). As such, I'm looking forward to Tribes:Ascend. And, for the record, I hated Tribes:Vengeance. I still have a Blood Eagle t-shirt around here someplace...

  15. The best part of Wentworth's is veteraning up enough to get access to the "/ah" command. Ah, indeed.

  16. Regarding First Ward:

I loved the look and feel of it, and enjoyed the story arcs. The now-familiar ambushes, NO. But most everything else. Also, as a zone, it has great feel, and is as empty as Boomtown. Bummer. And as good as it is, it strikes me as more solo-type content, both from the writing/arcs and the lack of others to team with. Now that I've done it once, I'll probably not do it again because in our fast-fast content world, it's kind of a pain to get there.

I don't care about merits/rewards, so that aspect didn't affect me. I really, really liked the stories. But I play defenders on x0+0, and I had a hard time there, so I most likely won't be going back.

I do Keyes now because I can actually do it with my squishy iTrial badger and not die with every other pulse and end up raging face down until the reactors are shut off. I even understand what's happening now that I'm not dieing all the time.

So while I understand that the elite gamers think it's been dumbed down, if it mean =I'm= playing it now, that means others are too. And that's good for the game.

And while I found the TPN iTrial to be very confusing, I know that'll go away as I do it a few more times.

  18. To the smaller iTrials, yes. For me, personally (and yes, this is just my anecdotal experience), forming iTrials is torture. I can't do the ones I want to, only what's forming.

THAT'S WHY SOLO INCARNATE CONTENT IS ATTRACTIVE.

Yes, servers run iTrials all the time; yes, people grind them over and over. But the reality is, on =my= play schedule with =my= preferences, it's hard to get what I want. I'm still not convinced that LFG works for anyone but a preformed league, because I have NEVER been able to join anything. Put all that together, and hell yes, I'm looking forward to solo incarnate content and would enjoy smaller TF-style iTrials.

I think it was intentional. Made to mimic those parts in movies and anime where the guy swings his sword and the offending enemy appendage falls off after a bit of dramatic pause. Personally I kinda like it.
For the record, I have the same problem with my Beam Weapon powerset. Maybe it's a base problem in the new sets?
