I wonder, after the Paragon Market comes out, how many people will stop doing iTrials? I know I'm just doing them for the Empyrean merits so I can get the trail auras and costume change emotes. I don't give two capes about level shifts, and will happily return to regular gameplay once I can purchase the things I want.
Unless the same minds that brought us badges in PVP zones decide to lock more content in the Astral/Emp vendors.

This thread inspired me to use one of my available slots and create a level 1 Hero to leave in Outbreak. Thanks, Eco!

Another example of an anti-farming change: Converting the "Defeat Shadowhunter" to a timed mission.

Myself and Lady Shroud will be at the E&C again. Unfortunate location, but there aren't a lot of places in downtown that:
1. Are close to PAX and easy for visitors to find.
2. Are willing to sign over a huge chunk of their real estate to a bunch of cheap nerds.
It doesn't stop me from hoping, though.

Quote:Aha, cool! I tried stretching the window, but it just made the list of 8 bigger and fatter without actually expanding the window. You can. Click on the two arrows inside the league window and you'll see all the league. In the bottom corner there are two arrows to expand the league window. You can also grab the bottom right corner to stretch the league window.
Thanks.

Quote:Ding ding ding on both points. Reveal was my favorite until I got /auctionhouse. Use it continuously. (If you can buy vet rewards in the Paragon Market, this one is worth WHATEVER they sell it for.)/auctionhouse is my new favorite thing. Getting full of salvage in any given mission and being able to sell it right there is so very nice.
The other power that took me by surprise is Reveal. I thought it was pointless since I knew where things were in Paragon, and the mission maps were easy enough to move through. Yet, I find myself using it the minute I walk into a mission. Just about every one of them.
Quote:You can also use /AH
The ability is freakin' awesome. I've bound it to my Y key and anytime there's downtime I look to see if I've made any sales or need to sell/buy anything at the moment.

Quote:This, a thousand times this. I died in a Lambda trying to hand over the wrong grenade temp power to the tank, wondering why it wouldn't transfer.Oh, and IMO they need to add one more thing to the trial panel, a 'You have <x> Cells/Pacification Grenades/Molecular Acids, click here to use one' button (two for Lambda, obviously). Expecting people to dig through their powers window looking for one or two temps among the hundred or so that certain character can have, whilst also trying to stay alive in a hostile environment? Not good.
The biggest problem with Keyes, in my experience, tends to be a smaller group of players who have it down and just sorta expect (or sometimes even deride) less-familiar players to do the correct things in the correct order. As someone else up-thread said, it's kinda hard to read the instructions when you're trying just to find your team and stay alive.
(Also, why can't we make the League window bigger? I'd love to stretch it vertically to see more players.)

Backfire gets my vote for coolest use of AE ever. Brilliant.

The whole time I was reading this thread, I was remembering an article I recently saw that surprised even the author.
The tricky business of being a woman on Vent

When it comes to the Villain new-player experience, here's how I remember it from when COV went live:
1. Cool! New ATs I can't have on Hero side, and some unique powersets! (This will no longer be an issue.)
2. Beating up snakes. Ok, that's different from Hellions! (New players won't necessarily have the COH background.)
3. Beating stuff up... BANK ROBBERY? CASINO ROBBERY? HELLS YEAH!
4. Maps are exact same as COH, only with different "skins", and now we're just beating up people all the time? Where's the villain stuff like those cool robberies? Bah.
5. Never go back to Villain side.

Quote:That quote right there was worth it.I logged off confident this cereal killer will be dishing out 2 scoops of Justice on his own and won't wind up being level 40 and not knowing where Talos Island is.
But this is why I'm playing my 50s so much now. You wouldn't believe how many new Trial players I've discovered along the way (thank you, devs, for the /tell response, so I know) and have assisted as a suddenly low-level player. (Getting one of your powers unlocked each time they hit an odd level is fun!)
What better way to spread the word about the game you love than to help a new player learn about it, while at the same time experiencing their wonder and discovery? For example, teamed with one new player, we finally made it to Steel Canyon, only to arrive at the beginning of a Rikti invasion zone event. During the final battle at Positron, his all-caps exclamations had everyone rolling and appreciating the crazy-awesome intensity he was experiencing.
It's a great refresher course for any jaded vet.

Quote:Yeah, of all the superhero games, it's the one that got superhero-y right. The one thing everyone should know about CoH is this: it's the GOOD superhero MMO.

Quote:Hear, hear.I just want more tights patterns. Is that so much to ask for?
Quote:I still fail to see how hard it is to make asymmetrical patterns. Colors can already be asymmetrical, as we see in the 50/50 mask. Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to replicate that for other patterns. Third color would be great, but definitely seems like more work.

Quote:Gotta say I agree. Especially now that it'll no longer be the new player experience and I expect it to turn into a ghost town. The fact of the matter is, I don't want this game to be any more about Praetoria than it is about the Rikti. Or the 5th Column. Or the Skulls. I don't like that the Incarnate content revolves around Praetoria and that the big P has wormed it's way into every other facet of the game for the past year.
