    RIP Mr. Trololo

    The first time I learned of the whole trololo phenomenon was from this Lord of the Rings clip.

  2. What about a vehicle for transporting teams? When will we get the asparabus?

    Quite agree, quite agree.

    I also think that the current names of key Arachnos members cause a bit of confusion. Why don't we change them just to keep it clear? How about:

    Lord Recluse -----> Bruce
    Black Scorpion -----> Bruce
    Captain Mako -----> Bruce
    Ghost Widow -----> Bruce
    Scirrocco -----> Bruce

    Amen!
  4. I can easily waste hours on that web site without realizing it. You're reading about one thing, see something else of interest, click on it, repeat. It's like eating potato chips - you can't stop at just one.
  5. Two come to mind...

    The first was for my dragon-themed Spines/FA scrapper. During one of his fights he acquired the recipe for Draconic Wings. After I crafted them, his appearance became exactly how I envisioned him.

    The second was for my BS/WP scrapper, who I created after buying the Animal Pack. I made him a humanoid tiger and tried to give him clawed feet, but didn't like how they looked with tights or any of the other options. Finally, I abandoned the claws and put him in camouflage fatigues with combat boots and it just worked. To explain it, I figured that upon his naked and furry arrival to Paragon City, someone said to him, "Dude, put on some pants." He just selected the most comfortable and utilitarian type he could find.
  6. This actually depicts a deleted scene where the Avengers wander into a karaoke bar’s salute to the Village People. (“Hulk be construction worker or HULK SMASH!”) It’ll probably be on the DVD, though.
  7. I still prefer it to scythelis. I found that melee set to be sorely disappointing.

    I agree completely. Spidey is well-known for making wisecracks while fighting bad guys in order to distract them or make them careless. But I find his incessant chatter directed towards the viewer to be irritating beyond words. When you find yourself wishing that the main character was actually Spider-Mime, it's time to change channels. I won't be watching it anymore.

    I normally try to keep my expectations low, but man, this movie looks like a helluva lot of fun.
  11. I watched Ultimate Spider-Man and am a bit ambivalent about it. I found the whole gimmick of him talking to the camera a little too Ferris Bueller-ish. (which was fine for that movie, but this isn't that movie) I know they're trying to convey Spidey's cockiness, but I think they could've just done that through ordinary dialogue. It started to grate on my nerves after a while.

    On the plus side: Stan Lee as the school janitor. Who doesn't love Stan the Man?

    I'll watch a few more episodes to give it a chance before deciding whether to make it regular viewing like Avengers: EMH.

    And let's not forget that classic episode of "Three's Company," the one where they have a misunderstanding.* Who could've seen that coming?

    I consider flexibility to be the defining characteristic of Devices. Combining the protection of Cloaking Device with the long duration of Trip Mine, a player can prepare the battlefield as he/she sees fit and engage enemies under circumstances of their own choosing. This means that primaries, secondaries, power pools, epic powers, temporary powers and inspirations can all be optimized to their best effect. If the duration of Trip Mine was shortened, the ripple effect would be significant. That long duration makes all of the above possible.

    Obviously, some people prefer a play style that's more aggressive, and that's fine. But some of us enjoy the challenge of analyzing a particular situation and choosing the right tools from our toolbox to bring victory in a given fight. Trip Mine, in its current configuration, allows us to do that.

    Tripmines I'd be inclined to say should always keep its long expiration time.
    I agree with New Dawn on this. I primarily solo and I'm very happy with Trip Mine the way it is. I enjoy laying down a kill zone and pulling tough opponents into it; it's like having a half-dozen scrappers serving as my own personal bodyguard.

    Can't really speak to the issue of Time Bomb because I've never used it.

    Agree that Gun Drone is an endurance hog, but slotting for EndRed and beefing up Stamina with EndMod can make it manageable.

    I agree that Devices isn't perfect, but I think it's still pretty good. The versatility of the set makes it a very different type of play experience than the other blaster secondaries and I appreciate having that choice.

    That's pretty much what I figured. It just seemed odd to be in an office building with nothing but turrets as far as the eye could see. I initially thought that they had been set up by a conventional villain group and that I would encounter the real bad guys once I broke through their first line of defense. Instead, the turrets were the bad guys.

    I also had to wonder how they got to the office building in the first place. Lets face it, turrets aren't known for the migratory tendencies. Still, it appealed to my sense of the ridiculous because, out of all the enemy groups in CoH, I can't think of one less likely to undertake such a venture than those nefarious turrets.
  17. I just had a fairly strange CoH experience. I was playing a character that had been sitting dormant for a while and decided to complete a radio mission on my mission list. Unfortunately, the details of the mission had been replaced with generic placeholders. The mission was

    "Defeat BOSS_NAME and Guards
    The VillainGroup has been brazenly defying the forces of law and order lately. From the sound of things on the police band, that's probably because of BOSS_NAME."

    Now, I like surprises as much as the next guy, so I decided to run the mission and see who it was that I originally planned to fight. I figured that once I got in, I would see the usual suspects of Nemesis, Carnies, Rikti or whoever. When I got to the location, however, it was an office building filled with turrets, antipersonnel guns and dual artillery guns, but no recognizable villain group other than "turrets."

    When I was done, I received the rather bland notice that "You have defeated BOSS_NAME and his VillainGroup crew. Mission accomplished."

    Still, I couldn't help wondering... Who the hell did I just fight? Was it the Carnival of Turrets? The Turrets of Artemis? The Circle of Turrets? Weird.

    Has anyone else had this experience?

    In theory, I prefer to make characters who are inherently unique because I enjoy developing back stories as a creative exercise. In practice, however, I often create characters because I want to try out a particular combination of powersets.

    That said, many of my generic characters acquire back stories that subsequently make them unique after ideas percolate in my subconscious for a while. I usually have an "A HA!" moment where I think "that would be a great concept for character X."

    In this regard, my gaming preference parallels what I consider to be the norm for comic book characters in that most seem to be unique in some way. Even members of in interstellar paramilitary organization like the Green Lantern Corps are depicted with unique aspects to their personality or background. That's just good storytelling.
  20. He died way too soon. Always enjoyed their music and humor. Here's a little hero-themed clip to remember him by:

  21. Villain-side Pocket D Hostess. Two words: demonic hottie.
  22. Literally the Dark Knight. But where are the nipples? Everyone knows that Batman body armor isn't complete without nipples.
  23. I try not to repeat myself with character concepts and powerset combinations because I like variety. Sometimes, however, I'll create similar characters if I can devise a narrative to explain the connection. For example:

    1) An archery/devices blaster and an archery/TA corruptor are brothers who chose different paths;

    2) An ice/ice blaster and an ice/energy tanker are both related, but the mutant 'ice gene" manifested itself in different ways for each character;

    3) A spines/fire scrapper and a fire/WP brute both draw their fire-related powers from the same magical source, but one is good and the other is evil. (both are dragon-themed)

    With regard to costumes, if I find a stye that I like, I tend to repeat it but vary the color scheme so as to avoid outright duplication.

    Similarly, I don't like to recycle names on different servers, even if I really like the name. I have enough trouble keeping track of my characters without the complication of giving them the same name.
  24. My highest level character (and namesake) is at level 48. I'll be pushing for my first 50.
