  1. These buffs going to carry into arena matches? Logic dictates 'no', but then again that seems like a 'special time of need' when they'd really matter.

Surly some of these things could be fixed with a simple run through with a spell checker.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You should see far fewer typo's in powers with I7. Thing's like "it's" for "its" on the other hand, are still likely to crop up and be low priority fixes.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hahaha! They finally took geko's keyboard priviledges away. Awesome.
  3. Hear hear! Longbow wouldn't be so bad... if not for the ten thousand Longbow missions in the 30's.

You know how each of the Praetorians has his own minion/lt/boss villain group? That's who we should be fighting level 40-50, except for each signature hero. Longbow should just be Ms. Liberty's group, not the generic group they stick into missions every time you're actually doing something evil.

Citadel should have an army of good-guy Citadel bots. BAB should have some of his hard pipe-hittin buddies from the street. Sister Psyche should have a whole gang of psychic hero-wannabes at her disposal. Etc.

Heck... bring back the Luddites and Legacy Chain for 40-50! They both had some cool powers that set them apart, and got phased out way too early.
  4. What the heck is War Witch doing alive, fighting in Grandville?

    AT reps?

    Jonyu = Brute rep
    Statesman = Dom rep
    Positron = MM rep
    Devastatus = Corrupter rep

These were all confirmed in beta.

Statesman posted once, I think, about Doms back in beta. He said the animation times on Mind/Psi irritated him and he was going to cut them down.

Devastatus posted a few snarky comments on the Corrupter boards in beta, generally made himself disliked, and hasn't been heard from since.

Sciccoro is clearly in charge of Nerva even though its not openly mentioned, the Giza casino is said to be owned by him although managed by Johnny Sontana.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't remember the contact, but one mission states that the Family owns the Giza in name. (They have to submit TPS reports to the real owner though...)
  8. How will the Ancillary / Patron pools work for characters that have already switched?

Does a Defender who switches over get access to the villain pools? And if a Stalker switches to a hero before level 41, what are his pool options? (It wouldn't make much sense for him to get patron powers from an Arachnos villain at that point...)

  9. Having played my /Inv Brute a lot lately, I have to agree that this power is messed. Turning it on makes me take more damage instead of [/i]less[/i] damage. Smashing, fire, energy, doesn't matter... that -5% def across the board means minions are whacking me a lot more often. Not to mention that side effects like Mu -end and burst -def also hit more often.

Unyielding is supposedly better than Rooted (because you can move normally) and Fire/DA mez protection (because of knockdown protection). Does that justify a status protection toggle that makes you die faster instead of slower, though?

The difference between the current -5% def and a tweaked -2.5% def for Brutes and Scrappers doesn't look like a lot on paper, but the perceived improvement would be great. I wouldn't feel like Unyielding is getting me killed, at least.

I can only hope that, since this announcement was a looooong time in coming, the devs took a hard look at blaster secondaries(and every possible primary pairing) for balance issues.

...If an AR/fire blaster had equivalent performance to an Ice/EM in PvP, there wouldn't be any need for blasters to have toggle drops.

    [/ QUOTE ]
God, amen to that! I PVP all the time and I never... ever... eeeeever see anything other than /Energy Blasters. Basically only noobs and people devoted to concept take other secondaries, and it's been that way for a long time now. Compared to the uber damage melee attacks and the utility of Power Boost, Boost Range, and Conserve Power, the other secondary sets are garbage.
  11. I hate when people respond to stuff like this with their own limited agenda. That's why I'll keep this short...

Toggle-dropping is one of the only useful things a Dominator brings to the table in PVP. This is from experience (I have a 40 Dom and PVP a lot). Holds don't do anything thanks to the Break Free candy stores in every PVP zone, and Dom damage is the lowest in either game. On a small team or in a massive villain-vs-hero battle, the best way I can help my team is to plug away at Scrappers and Tankers with my Dominator toggle-dropper melee powers. Without these working reliably (and they only drop 1 toggle per hit), I would really be dead weight. Please keep that in mind when you're reducing toggle-dropper powers. Thanks.
  12. AV change = thumbs way up!

Level 40-50 in CoH will actually be fun and soloable now!
  13. Merc/FF
    L25 (pre-Commando)
2 Acc/3 Dam SOs in Soldiers, Spec Ops
    Tactics, Assault, Dispersion Field

I ran a bunch of missions last night in groups, with 1 partner, and solo.

The improvement was noticeable but I do not yet feel overpowered. +1 mobs (2 levels up on the difficulty scale) are still the best I can solo before my pets start dropping like flies. The nice offense of my henchmen still seems to be offset by their frailty. On a team it's not as noticeable because Mercs don't draw much aggro, but solo they get trashed quickly even with bubbles. Anything with lethal resistance is hard, anything with stun resistance is hard, and anything that does fire/cold/energy/neg damage is hard.

Again, I don't think this is currently overpowered compared to my Brute, Dominator, and Corrupter friends of the same level. They are much more flexible in what they can do and when and don't have to worry about transporting pets or pet aggro. I die less in that I get little aggro myself, but I see this as a tradeoff for the prep work at the beginning of every mission (currently up to 85 seconds of summoning, upgrading, resting, and buffing).

Whether or not the Commando will tip the scales into overpowered, I can't say yet. If he does I'll report it honestly...
  14. There's no way I'm zerging mobs that have 0% chance of killing me just to make more money. The Statesman I know would never encourage that.

Risk v. Reward. Green mobs or blue Lts. are no risk... why should the reward be better?

I vote they just fix the darn reward system.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
The reward tables for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

The store definitions for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Once again the complaints are falling on deaf ears. First Recluse blew them off, then Statesman, now Positron.

    WE ARE STILL BROKE.

Without hordes of powerleveled 50s handing out millions of Inf., the reward scales are not adequate!

After fighting tons of bosses (more Inf.), selling every drop, and staring at empty slots for countless levels, I should be able to fill more than 1/10 of my slots! CoV poverty is, in my mind, a far worse blow than ED. ED doesn't even affect me if buying 6 enhancements is a pipe dream.

Maybe after War Witch, pohsyb, _Castle_, geko, Ravenstorm, Weaver-1, poz, Weirdbeard, and Gaffer pop in to tell us everything is working as intended... maybe then they will wise up and fix the reward scales.

No offense is meant to Positron. I am simply getting frustrated with the Inf. issue. "Everything's the same as CoH" is a cop-out, and is inherently incorrect. Everything is not the same as CoH, since heroes have been around for 1.5 years and had better reward scales/easier farming for a very, very long time.
  16. Just 4 is enough to start him. I have 3 close friends I always team with, and he was ready to give the first mission when it was just us, before I recruited anyone else.
  17. Alright Positron!

I was going to run over your HeroClix with my Corolla but now I will spare it.

    Silver Mantis
Location: This SF can only be unlocked via the mission computer in bases
    Level Range: 20-25
    Auto-RSK Level: 25

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, is it just me or is it a little unrealistic to expect SGs to have this sophisticated a base by level 25? I mean, an expert worktable, necessary salvage, Mission Computer badge, high power and control... the prerequisite list is huge!

Why make a Strike Force especially for new recruits and alts, where the members who earned all the prerequisites get no XP? Ah well...

  20. Take care, Gilgamesh.

Who can compare with him in kingliness?
Who can say like Gilgamesh: "I am King!"?
Whose name, from the day of his birth, was called "Gilgamesh"?
Two-thirds of him is god, one-third of him is human.

  21. Every time a Burn Tanker joins my team on the live servers, it's like someone flipped the boring switch to 'ON.' They run in, hit their macro ("Herding, wait for me to say when"), don't get hurt, and kill everything.

It doesn't matter what archetype I am playing. It doesn't matter what anyone else on the team is playing. The Burn Tanker is a one man show. Anything the rest of the team does aside from buff him just screws up his herding and slows down the XP gravy train.

I don't give a rat's butt about the herding part since any Tanker can do that. Here's the part that is ridiculous: by the time the Tanker says "ready!", everything but bosses is already dead. In the words of my Fire Blaster friend last night, "this is f***ing boring now."

    Thank you for nerfing Burn!
  22. Positron--

This seems like way too much reduction on Trick Arrow. How much is a group going to want a Defender with:

    *No heal
    *No defense/resist buff
    *No endurance buff
    *No recharge buff

Sets with heals and buffs can do the same -resist thing as TA.
Sets with heals and buffs can do the same slow thing as TA.
Sets with heals and buffs can debuff acc WAY better than TA.

...So I just don't see what TA brings to the table to compensate for its lack of variety (heals, buffs). I mean, Radiation is looking like Trick Arrow on steroids at this point.

    What am I missing here?

P.S. -- Net Arrow is now inferior to Web Grenade, a Blaster secondary? Huh?
  23. In the Croatoa mission where you escort the archer guy out of the Tuatha caves, his AI was really bad.

He stopped moving every time he got to a "seam" in the level (where one part of the tunnels would meet another part of the tunnels). He just stood there every time until I clicked on him, then he said "Thank you, friend" and kept walking... until he got stuck the next time. Multiply that by twenty and you have my experience escorting him.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Yay more shared power sets between controllers and defenders. There was not enough overlap already.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah that does suck. Defenders are getting more and more unneeded all the time. Groups would rather have control than weenie blasts.
