There are plenty of people in your own town or county who need help. Help them if you want to do more than writing checks to people on the other side of the planet. Charity should not be subject to the "disaster of the month".

Quote:Umm.. are you aware that the "80's cartoons" are based on the style of animation popular in Asia at the time then as well? The intro to the original Thundercats was hand drawn every frame by Rumiko Takahashi and she designed most of the characters as well. You may have heard of Ranma 1/2 or Inu-Yasha? And it turns out anime is just Disney-inspired shenanigans anyway. Is anyone else bothered by how "anime" inspired all the cartoons are these days?
I really miss older style animation and seems any time I see a new remake of those old 80s cartoons there redone in some anime-ish fashion and I just don't like it as much.
I prefer the older style animation, though Lion-O did look like a clown.
I mean normally I'm the first to point and laugh at Weabboos (actually living in Japan cured me of any notions of cultural superiority), but you're just flat out ignorant of the history of animation. -
Yay. Another hard educational channel begins to die, and Firefly fans cheer the impending stupidity.
I remember hearing all the hype about that show, my brother.. a big fan.. finally showed it to me. Firefly's not bad at all, but it's painfully obvious Whedon was heading towards Buffy in Space with River. I couldn't help but feel the show's driven by "It got cancelled now it's awesome" syndrome. The show was a whole sort of general mishmash and the only direction it seemed to be taking was increasing absurdities about River. Also, for how powerful China ostensibly was, we never saw anything but stockstandard europeans and token blacks. Summer Glau is not Asian.
Anyone remember Andromeda? That started awesomely strong as well, then over the course of 5 years it faded into obscurity. It comes down to this, if Andromeda had been on Fox and Firefly had been on UPN, which one was remembered as "killed before it's time" and "started strong but ran out of steam" would simply be reversed. And I'm gonna be honest, I don't think Firefly actually started strong, either. Five of the episodes were already nothing but sitcom-level filler. It may have been cancelled because the execs said "Wow, not even halfway through season 1 and already we're getting 'middle of season 4 coasting on momentum' level episodes."
I just can't bring myself to care that a show trying to have us believe a 98 pound chick can beat, in unarmed combat, 5 giant feral near-beasts in hand to hand combat got killed before it got stupider. I love female heroines.. I also love them believable. I just don't find broody/crazy tykebombs entertaining. -
Which is just as stupid a stereotype as the one that assumes all men who carry guns are insecure in their manhood. There's nothing wrong with fancying fantastical creatures and there's nothing wrong with people who live outside of urban areas carrying guns. There's no Animal Control office to call out in the sticks, if something tries to eat your cats you have to deal with it yourself up here.
-
That's right. You saw it with your own eyes. A guy who mentions guns in his sigfile loves him some Rainbow Dash and the rest of the Ponies.
I believe that makes "security in manhood" stereotypes balance out to zero, right? Lol. -

I powered a brute to level 50 and then deleted it the instant I was sure I could make VEAT's.

Have you folks considered actually posting patch notes on the actual patch notes page that the game's launcher directly links to rather than expecting folks to root around in the forums?
-
Quote:Not everyone visits the forums. Perhaps they should consider updating the actual Patch Notes page when pushing out a patch? You know, since it's linked directly from the damned launcher and all.Actually, it was the News, Events & Announcement Discussion forum.

People, you're not able to see the big picture here. The OP is exactly right about all of it. If the developers do not take action, this game will be gone to the Americans!
...and hey, my gun nut tags are out of date! *fixes* -
There's an Irish descended heroine my lovely and delicate Irish flower of a cousin made who's name I cannot use on CoH. Her name is pronounced "Shaw-thayd".

Quote:I run very acceptably on low settings with a Gateway system with the Atom Processor, 3150 integrated gfx. That Acer would be fine for on the go gaming, though I'd recommend a USB keyboard if you intend to talk a lot.Hey everyone. I was wondering if it was a good idea, or even possible, to run CoH on a netbook. The specific one I am interested in is the Acer Aspire One. All the stats can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Aspire_One
I'm not looking for highly impressive graphics if I were to play on this netbook. I simply want it to be able to play the game without lagging. Has anyone had any experience playing on a netbook? Please post your opinions and the make/model of the netbook you used.
Edited to add: Holy cow thread necromancy! Should looked at the year and not just the date. Point stands, CoH runs perfectly fine on a netbook. -
Whereas others like to argue pointless semantics and use it as a chance to belittle folks. The fact is, a time frame was given, they failed to meet it. I wondered why they even gave such a time frame, and why anyone else was expecting them to meet it?

Quote:I'd tend to agree, I'm just wondering why anyone believed them when they said it'd be out before Thanksgiving. Many years they've held off until after the holiday before this one, it wasn't sane for them to promise different this time.Personally I think this is a big problem with Paragon Studios. I understand hype. It is necessary to get people excited and keep them excited about a game or pretty much anything you are trying to sell really. There is a fine line between too little hype and too much hype. Too little and you don't excite people, too much and you can't live up to it so you end up disappointing people. Personally, I think Paragon Studios errs on the side of too much hype.
Think about it people, when has a big CoX release _ever_ been in time for your vacation/long weekend? -
You forgot the "because they AREN'T God, I deserve reimbursement for the 15 bucks I spent re-subscribing for a new issue that changes almost nothing except Inherent Fitness!" part of her argument.

Quote:Your forum thing indicates you've even been here longer than I have.Don't worry, you'll eventually encounter some of the posts by people like Championess who do in fact insist that the current Dev team is doing nearly everything wrong.
[Citation needed]
What citation, beyond your own memories, do you need to be made aware that this dev team tends to overpromise now and then? -
Quote:I'm just wondering why they promised something before Thanksgiving anyway. The past three years they've decided not to risk a new issue right before the long holiday... why did they decide this would be different in the first place? While I agree with your sentiment, we *are* entitled to periodic free updates that freshen things up for longtime players.
That said, we aren't entitled to have them on our schedule, but rather on the devs schedule.
The kerfuffle this time around nicely illustrates why they very, very rarely mention a specific date for this or that feature. However carefully they modify the statement a few people will FREAK THE #$%*@ OUT about their lying, cheating, lowdown ways if something gets delayed. -
Fourth year in a row they've pushed a release back behind Thanksgiving. Honestly who was expecting them to deliver in time for the holiday?
-
Odd. This seems to be the discussion thread, and I don't see anyone saying that. What "facts" am I checking? *reads the thread again* Where does it say that?
-
Normally I'll buy just about anything y'all put out but... ten bucks for origin restricted auras and a few capes?
I'll pass. -
Quote:Here, I'll abridge DBZ for you.Ginyu Force, ASSEMBLE!
TeamFourStar does it again, and the Ginyus are as fun as expected. It's pretty difficult to parody parody, but they pulled it off pretty well. Recoome is just right as a pro-wrestler.
Something happens! Goku must face it! Goku fails for a while. Then suddenly Goku is better at this thing, whatever the challenge may be, than ANYONE HAS EVER BEEN BEFORE OR EVER COULD BE!
Repeat till the end of time, periodically following one of Goku's friends/relatives who has the exact same experience. -
Quote:Your response proves my point about bad behavior. Not everyone is like you, though. If something pure and clean isn't believable to you, I'm honestly sad for you.oh did you read it ?
because you seem to think you have some sort of insight on the book and somehow you think you have some sort of insight on my life too, which leads me to think you are not wrapped too tight.
lol u rage over comics
There's really no other way to feel. -
Quote:This honestly makes me sad.I read it, and I thought it was pretty good, one thing I liked was how all thru supes previously told origins he grew up all rainbows and sunshine where life was perfect and nobody ever said a harsh word. I don't care where you are from, any kid at any given time has the ability to be a completely cruel little punk at the drop of the hat for no particular reason other than to get themself over as a tough guy with their friends. I don't think any one person ever got thru their childhood without ever having to fight for one reason or another, it's a reality , it's going to happen. So here is a kid growing up, who if he so much as breaths on someone the wrong way he is going to cause some serious damage, so he has to avoid conflict. With kids, if they saw someone not defending themselves they would eat that kid alive, so the whole head down, hoodie up, laying low aspect makes perfect sense, he is trying to hide in plain sight. It is a very good story and I recommend it.
I had a wonderful upbringing (until the age of 15, but that's another thing entirely). My parents passed on a good moral compass, they didn't hit me any more than was really necessary for discipline. Any fighting I did was not to be a *****, it was to fend off people who were pricks. I was also a little kid, so I got thumped, often. It really makes me sad that your childhood was so full of posing and bad behavior that you think that's the only way it could possibly happen for anyone.
And in-universe.. Clark did not lay low or avoid confrontation, and he absolutely protected himself. He just had to be very gentle and forgiving while doing so soas not to kill others. Given who his parents were, even without superpowers he'd have been the same boy.
He's not Superman because he has all these awesome powers... He's superman because he has all those awesome powers and still goes to work every day, still maintains a strong set of morals. He'd be just as "super" without the powers.. he just wouldn;t be able to help as many people at one time. -
Quote:He wasn't an orphan. He was raised from infancy by people who loved him. Krypton is not his home, Kansas is. He's honestly got no more reason to brood over it than I have knowing my biological parents were from Lithuania which is totally diferent now than it was when I was conceived. You see, here's the thing, IMO of course. He does have "brood fodder". Destruction of his planet, being an orphen,
Who cares what happens in Lithuania? I'm not FROM there. Why should Superman care beyond a curiosity? His upbringing left him wanting for nothing. Krypton.. and even his superpowers.. are just neat bonuses, ways for him to give back to the society which gave him a loving home.
