  1. Why on earth would you close your account? You want to lose 2 years of Vet Rewards and any characters you created? If I am supposing right, you are thinking to start a new account with the old codes? This (as has been stated) won't work.

Just login to the Plaync Master Account that your CoX account is connected to and change the billing info and email address for Game email updates. Done.

Unless you really wanna lose all of the aforementioned...

Just to add: 'transfering' an account is a legal matter and not allowed by NCsoft, BUT so is 'sharing' an account. And okay, the RL name on the account will be your brother's name... big deal. As long as you control the account; it's yours.

Heck, my wife's account was originally my son's account. He stopped playing and gave it to his mom as a gift (Vet Rewards, etc.) . Recently he started playing again, and now we have three accounts. He wasn't going to take his gift back of course. And I pay for all three, but only one account is in my name.

sounds to me like the AE farm boradcast annoy's just you. and this is not the correct place for this topic. there is already a farm thread started and that is where this belongs. you didn't post a suggestion, you posted a rant. as for the farm spam, i never see anyone asking for an AE farm. all i see is people asking for an AE team. and as for the snide remark about being in the farmers best interest, i don't see any of them comming to the forums whinning about anything, only the people who don't like that style of play comming to the forums whining. take your own advise about peacefully co-existing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You dont see what you dont wish to then, Quint. I see both "LF AE team" and "LF AE farm team" in equal numbers. I may not entirely agree with the Flea, but what he says about keeping it on the down-low would behoove the farmers, but then I dont expect much from 'em anywho. A suggestion is a suggestion, and in this forum most of the suggestions are similar to rants because people feel passionate enough about whatever the subject is to post about it.

To the Flea: I understand where you're coming from, but the definition of "farming" in an MMO is "get the most for the least" or "lazy". Dont expect them to move.
  3. TheOcho will never tell, but I like to spam Latin phrases in Local while on a team. First toon to yell "troll'; gotcha Ocho!

I actually thought I had a GM (or an Ochophany) once after constantly mentioning in forum posts my farming on MI in an instance for the badge. Next time I went in to farm her she started spamming Illusionist pets at an accelerated rate. Finished the badge (finally) in no time, and though I'll neever be sure; I thanked any possiible 'helper' before I exitted the mish. Just to be polite.
  4. I could see a 'Spy' AT as you say (Epic available to both sides) and introduced with GR would make sense, but I'd almost expect that it would be the Hallmark of the Expansion and showcased even more than Maelstrom and Desdemona. Of course, it's still a good way down the pike... apparently. So there's plenty of time to give a new Epic its props.

Still, I'd really wonder what a 'Spy' AT could/would do that would make it a whole lot different than a Bane. I just dunno.

To reiterate the answers to the OP for staying 'on topic': it's an Expansion not and Expansialone, and links to the Announcement have been given. All else is hearsay.

PLEASE NOTE that if you try to tell people to use "pastel magenta" without linking to this chart, they will not have any clue what you're talking about and will use whatever they darn well think looks close. And you might end up with "chartreuse" instead.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If someone mistakes "pastel magenta" for "chartreuse"; I'll eat your HyperLinks, Angel.

In the long run, depending on screen color fluctuations and the use of the Chart; it's still probably easier, at least while ingame, to use the old grid system to share colors on the fly.
  6. Aw cmon, brewha. You've been here long enough to know the vagaries of Internet nodes, trunks, etc. just because your connection to Yahoo, or Myspace is cooking along , doesnt mean that your conn to CoX is clear. It happens. You already flushdns?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
See, this is the reason I'm against origin powersets. I looked at your ideas for the specific origins and immediately realised that they're pretty much miles apart from my own vision of what these origins represent.

Especially science. Your vision of it is a scientist, it seems, which aside from being at odds with the in-game definition of the origin, is actually nothing of the sort like what my own Science characters actually are. I have three, off the top of my head. One has been very heavily genetically modified and turned into the veritable super-soldier, one was born from a mother heavily mutated off Superadine (a Troll, to be clear) and one was disfigured into a fighting monster. That all three ended up fighting with swords is just a coincidence. Oh, and a soul inhabiting an artificially grown body (who also fights with swords, because I like them). Neither of them are scientists or would have much use of chemicals and concoctions.

Then there is technology. My actual "scientist" characters are all Technology, indulging in science to build and develop their suits of power armour, then using those to fight. It's actually been very disturbing to be that I had to implant 15 cyberhearts in my power armour scientist, and I'm glad I could move away from those and into the more generic Common Inventions. I do have a couple of robots and cyborgs, yes, but then I also have a man whose body is made up entirely of nanomachines, and I'm pretty close to having one who is never actually THERE, but instead uses a "hard light" hologram to project his presence while he remains safe in his hidden lab.

I'm not saying yours are inappropriate. Hell, they might actually fit some of my characters. But what origins cover is far, far, FAR too wide and loosely-defined to be constrained to one man's idea of what these origins should look and act like. By far the worst offender in this regard is Natural. Do we give Naturals a set that's about mental discipline, hard work, martial arts and street smarts? Or do we give them flight, laser beam eyes, super strength and super knitting? After all, Manticore may be Natural, but so is Sunstorm.

I don't think you can give one definition of what an origin should look and act like because there IS no one, single, universally-accepted definition. In fact, ideas of what they should represent are as varied as the people who hold them are many, and I have not seen any preference for one specific concept, or any dislike for one. That's why I've always been for generic powersets - they CAN fit everyone's idea.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Emphatically THIS!

Plus in this game Origin means next to nothing, and probably for this very reason. Which is why I could accept Origin powersets, but would rather just see new powersets that I could creatively tweak in my own mind to make them work with whatever Origin I decide to give a character.

Pigeonholing a powerset to an Origin by uncreative minds have given rise (in the past) to arguments how my Magic-Origin MasterMind could not possibly have Robotic Henchmen unless he somehow used dark magics to call forth said Robotic henchmen. When in my worldview he is actually just a very techsavvy magic being who uses his Dark magics to aid his homebuilt robotic army to effect world domination.
  8. You really have to remember that you are playing a fiction that has it's own rules. Once you click on the Launcher, you are suspending disbelief in order to enter the world of Heroes designated Paragon City. In this world there are rules, and if your 'concept' does not fit; it is the concept that is in the wrong. You can either drop the concept, or work within 'Da Rules' to make it acceptable to yourself.

As with any fiction, 'Da Rules' are as arbitrary as an individual's thought processes and as set in stone as Gravity (the law not the powerset). How do you know that the physics of the universe of CoX allows that a Fire Blaster is resistant to the element he wields? Apparently it does not... so work within that paradigm to make it work if your own paradigm says that a Fire Blaster simply MUST be resistant to fire. Or conversely, use the gray matter turning to jelly between your ears, and give yourself a valid reason why you actually are resistant to Fire, just not the fire that is currently dropping your health like a rock.

Behemoths throwing regular fireballs at you? No theyre not... that's Demonic Fire, and it isnt anything like the regular fire that you hurl and are naturally resistant to. Thus you take damage from it. Their are examples in the real world. Back in the day, a warship might be resistant to fire lobbed by an enemy. then this ship was exposed to 'Greek Fire', and burnt to the waterline. I could give you myriad reasons why any 'element' of the game would be different enough to make your 'Concept' of resistance reasonable and your lack of resistance to what appears to be the same thing reasonable. It's all a matter of how you suspend your disbelief.

It's quite simple, costs no Dev-time to implement, and will never glitch in the middle of battle to get you killed. PLUS it doesnt mess with my own paradigm where a Fire Blaster is not resistant to fire. You hold your fantasy; I stick to mine, and unless we want to get in a big debate about it (and waste time which would be better used thrashing baddies), we both walk around secure in our own little fantasies.

In the end, we all have our concepts of what is right and wrong for our toon's concept; they may never agree, but we can all get along with just a bit of creative thought. Get creative.
  9. Yes. I was addressing the first quote (having to do with arcs), and I mean no offense nor am I really trying to argue. I have read many of your postings on the subject; and while I may disagree with your 'take' on the matter, I do believe it is a valid one. So, what I am saying is that 'case by case basis' is not a mistranslation of any of Posi's statements, but rather it is a valid interpretation of his statements both concerning Mission Arcs and subscribers/accounts which specifically transgressed the spirit and letter of the EULA in using known exploitable content for ingame gain. I am not making a judgement on the situation only on the terminology used.

Posi's words are valid, the interpretation that CS will look into the whole 'event' and make judgements/take action on a case by case (or individual) basis is valid in the way he worded the statement. Only time will tell if the actions are implemented in a just and equitable manner. I would hope so, but I don't know anyone who particularly abused any exploitable content; so I will only know anecdotally. All I can say from past actions by CS is that they appear to be fair although some consider them heavyhanded. That is an individual judgement call.
  10. Well, I don't know about the 'bandwagon, thing, but I feel qualified as a government certified linguist and language analyst that the quoted text makes the case fairly clear that banning of arcs will indeed be on a case by case basis. There is no other way to accurately parse the statement made that CS will not ban arcs by keyword and that any arc being considered for banning/removal/action will first be checked by CS. That's pretty plain. "Case by case basis" is a standard colloquialism in English for "individually".
  11. It's gotten to the point that we need distractions (casinoesque minigames) for our distractions (an MMO) from RL.*

IZE SKEERED, Mr Peabody. Hold me!

    * RL simply inferred. If one needs this level of distraction; I would posit there is no real life and Douglas Adams is indeed the Deity Excarnate.

    Badge question

I don't think it's so much a bug or glitch as it is the msiconception that Contacts run in 5 level unlockable blocks (unlocked by player level) which actually run from the 5 and 1. count to the 4 and 9 and not the next 5 and 10 level. Although there are some vagaries now; contacts like Percey (redside) would unlock at 10 and give missions (unless in a Story Arc) only through level 14. I 'slowleveled' toons to verify exact levels missions became available back in the day.
  13. Although I am sure this is trackable (team size badge), it might still be a little tough to get in normal play and griefable to boot. At what point does one get the tic for having an 8 man team? I would figure at mission complete, but what happen when one or more people have to leave team? Not too big a deal normally, but attach a badge to it, and watch the hard feelings begin.

Besides, I always considered the Lackey badges as a sure sign of teaming anywho.
  14. [ QUOTE ]

Pity this won't fix a thing.

Griefing wont stop, Steele. if you honestly think it will, no offense buddy, but you're full of [censored].

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm, Cav, I don't see your point, or need for a censored word. Steele is correct. I've never been griefed in my badge-hooring by another player. BUT the 'Star my Arc' and HoF badges were actively being griefed making them essentially unattainable. Virtual Ticket, Mob, etc badges were epic fail from the outset because they basically made those badges solo farms. Even I have better things to do than gather or join an 8 man team for only 1 perq: a virtual ticket badge.

I don't particularly mind them removing most of the AE badges that I earned eventhough I think it was a little shortsighted since MA farms are slowly dying down to a normal level as predictable. I am glad that once again I am secure in the ungriefability of my badging fun in game.
  15. The only problem vis-a-vis virii and MMOs that I have found so far was the patch downloader for one specific BIG name MMO. It seemed that each time a patch was necessary, my main box would end up with some new (and usually the same) critters malwaring around. BUT that was because the patching was being done outside of the game engine, and I have never had anything attach itself to my PC because of CoX. And I run with only the router firewall enabled (no Windows or 3rd party firewalls).
  16. Ninus

    End game in CoX?

There is no 'End Game' as other MMOs would have it for CoX. The Devs would put it that it's not the end but the journey.

That being said, you will be inundated shortly by all the info to choose from as far as End Game goes here. Pick and choose what you like, or just do it all. There are TF Trial a couple of Raid and new content around 3 times a year added. Personally, I still haven't gotten tired of it with my Sig Main Villain, and he's seen it all. But when I feel the need, I roll an Alt to do it again from a different standpoint.

I do agree with the first answer; have fun.
  17. Boy, dontcha hate when you come to the party late, and all the good stuff has been chewed over to the point of leavin's. I know I do; but I'm here now.

This Suggestion has Epic Fail written all over it, and has holes I could drive my semi through. Most obvious one is that until you do the Epic Fail' miah, you can continue with your 50. Nu? Ding 50 before finishing or even doing the Praetorian arc; no chance for the accolade? IMO this isn't a suggestion to end farming, end PLing, etc. It's just the rehash of the old 'I wanna have a Hall of Fame' where I can show off my cool 50's. While not a horrid idea of itself; it's a nonsequiteur.

Force me to dump my 50's which I still enjoy playing... a lot? I'll agree with the others who say when you can pry them from my cold, dead account! My Sig Character gets 70% of my playtime still, and he rarely PL's, and only if you consider me running him with any of my wife's toons lackeyed to him to be PLing. By that standard you better just remove SK/LK to prevent PLing.

If this is, as some suggest, just an 'I can't find a non-AE Farm team; then you have my pity. As has been said, they're out there. They aren't spamming Broadcast though. Good teams, even PuGs, don't spam Broadcast anywho.

To all and sundry: sadly the Devs addressed the AE Farms a little too quickly, and vocally so that many saw the patches as a big 'anti-farm' and 'anti-PL' pogrom when it was just fixing the exploits being used for them. But then I can't think of a way they could do what needed to be done without people thinking this way.
  18. All three of ya (MM, Shadow, Rache); ssshhh. I wanted to see where he was going with that. Possibility for comedy gold.
  19. I'm not necessarily against this, but I don't think it will work much differently depending how you throw the heal. It depends on a ToHit check anyway, and if you have a runaway Tank/Scrapper/Brute/Blaster who is unable to work as a team to stay up... meh. They get what"s coming to em.

If you have used the power long enough, you learn how to finesse the throw, and will hit 90% of your intended targets anywho. This familiarity with the power enables you to 'know' when the successful heal is going to pop, and knowledge of your teammates (even in a PUG) will let you position yourself usually for even the most manic teammate.

You're still going to lose some though, and that's why the heal is better than a Emp/Pain/Rad in the first place.

The Mutant origin refers to people who were born mutated some way (i.e. different from their own species). Science refers tro people who were changed in some way due to exposure to something. So the Lost should be Science origin.

    [/ QUOTE ]

While this is true, the substance they're exposed to causes them to mutate. Their origin is kinda blurred, IMO, especially since all of them mutate into the same general being.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No - they are EXPOSED TO A SUBSTANCE TO GAIN THEIR POWERS - that's classic science origin right there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What if they were never exposed to any substances themselves but came out of the womb with the capability to mutate or develop a mutation inherited from their parental units? NATURAL Origin all over IMO.

Sorry. It just looked like so much fun that I wanted to play too.

    im 100 % serious,
and even though its not in my habits, i gave in a dude ingame 2 weeks ago, with a name like " Babtists destroyer"

(i made this up not to speak out the real name of teh dude, but its kinda Eulawise similar)

    I Saw Him Yesterday... ingame.

    With the same name.

so gimme a break with rules, if they only apply to some.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The rules apply to all, but unless they have a truly remarkable AI specifically set to search out rule breakers, and all the possible aural permutations of possible actionable names, including colloquialisms such as leet-speak; they will never be able to 'find' these rule breakers. Yes; we are the police if we chose to be. If not; then let it slide, but realize when YOU let it slide, you have no right to kvetch here on the Boards about it.

What I'm saying is that somehow either the GM's directly notice a candidate for genericing or they are apprised of same. Either way, it is a time consuming job, and only one part of a multifaceted job keeping the game CS running smoothly from the inside. And seeing the number of uncreative dorks in the game (ie: Wulfereen, Capt Marbell, etc.); is it any wonder that Bugs and Glitches, and other petitions get backlogged? I'm not surprised at all, and tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the GMs. Yeah, I'm a fanboi; an adult who realizes that dealing with the public USUALLY isnt worth ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY, and I appreciate those who chose to 'do the heavy lifting for me' for monetary remuneration.
