The idea of a defense that is so low freaks me out a bit, so I added def in while upping your recharge marginally. The range on the cones suffered a lil bit , however that is just positioning so not a huge deal in the scheme of things. I also added KB protection as this is gonna need it IMO.

Quote:Reptiles would not have body temperature control. It's a reptile thing. Also, why would they be any more resistant to sleep? Small brains do not preclude the need for sleep. Again, it's a biological thing.Why is it whenever you get someone with an idea, their are always the haters coming in and bashing on the idea. I in fact support this idea, but I would change a few things around based on what I've seen the devs do.
Tier 1) Love it, but maybe change it to Scales(auto): Your body is naturally covered in scales, making you more resistant to smashing, lethal and fire.
Tier 2) Maybe not the heal just yet. Thick Skin(auto): After years of evolution, your skin has grown deeper and more resistant to cold, energy, and negative.
Tier 3) Would put the heal here. Temperature control: Rapidly raising the temperature of your body, you begin to regenerate hp faster at a increased rate, along with a small heal in hit points.
Tier 4) Good, mez pro is perfect here. Prevolution(toggle): Due to an underdeveloped brain, and over strong body, you have protection from sleep, holds, slows, repels, disorients, fear, and knockback.
Tier 5) Maybe not a damage aura, but a taunt aura instead. Hunters instinct: The more enemies in sight, the more you begin to rage adding to your damage and acc. The first enemy you see gives you the greatest bonus, with bonus range up to 10.
Tier 6) I'd put some def here. Reptile reflexes(toggle): Years of battle and survival, you have developed movements well supported for battle. Increasing your smashing and lethal def.
Tier 7) This one is perfect.
Tier 8) I've already placed these on the other powers so maybe. Armor plating(toggle): Over the years, you have adapted to your environment and evolved sturdy back armor plates increasing your def to fire, cold, energy, and negative.
Tier 9) Good tier 9, but maybe change the details. Fossilize: Thur many many years of evolution and development, you have hit the peak of your evolution tree, focusing for a couple secs you can transform your body into a living fossil and became highly resistant to all types of damage, as well as a +hp bonus, and +regen. After 3 minutes in this state you became extremely exhausted, and are drained of all your endurance, and are unable to recover for a little bit.
I can see this working with these changes it is no more than what the other armors provide, and at the same time provide a change of pace for the armors.

Hey, maybe they could have this power:
Fossil Fuel: They are able to burn a bit of their essence to move at a faster rate.
Only kinda kidding with that last one .. it's kinda cool. :P -
I wanted actual capped Ranged Defense, better than average defense to other positionals and still do decent damage. I wanted to be an asset to a team but be able to make a go at high end soloing too. Would I be able to dip my feet in the PvP pool?
With the 3 LoTg +rech, Numi +Reg/Rec, Miracle +Rec and the Basi G quad this is gonna be expensive.

I took a pass on my Sonic / Traps. The only time I'd see that Time Bomb would be viable is if you solo exclusively. Even then, the amount of time spent to make it work dramatically slows your exp ( if you're still leveling ).
It's really one of those things that looks great on paper, but in practice, and this has been discussed time and again since that power was available, it's just about the most skip-able power in any power set.
Sirens + Trip works great.
Super Speed with a celerity +stealth in sprint ( for easy activation or deactivation ) works great too. -

Is Strongbad, in fact, a WM/EA Brute .. and therefore Strongprettybad? Or would he be Prettystrongbad?

Thank you both for the replies. I've reworked my original + Miladys_Knight's wonderful work to arrive at this. I have a bit more defense, Regen, Recov and Rechrg with Total Focus and Manuevers taking the place of Aid Other and Aid self. I switched Super Speed to get Total Focus in. I've created Torqueflight on the Virtue server and leveled her up to 8 in short order. So far, so good
I look forward to her growing into this build.

Hiya folks, It's the ever inquisitive one again
The title really says exactly what I'm shooting for with this build. I realize single target damage is lacking without the two main ST damage dealers, but thought with the boost range and the massive AOE damage I can bring to bear my Alpha should be pretty nasty. I took two mag 3 stuns to keep bosses docile until I'm ready to deal with them. Once again I've stepped into something new to me. I've added in Aid Self for the solo experience, and as a band-aid for the agro this build will undoubtedly generate in groups ( hover out of range and heal ?? Never done it so guess this is how it would work
)
I tried to get as much ranged defense ( around 31% with hover ) and recharge ( around 117% ) as I could and still have max damage from my attacks. I do have one purple set and a single LoTG so it's a bit pricey, although not through the roof I wouldn't think.
I question my recovery ( only 166% ) and it's ability to allow a fluid attack chain for extended fights. I'm also not sure if my defense is sufficient to the task.

I have a Stone / WP tanker and I can tell you that I have no problem holding agro.
You should be the first one in, Fault, Taunt then other tankers roll in, do their respective AOEs if they have them, and then taunt. There should be nothing for the squishies and scrappers to fear from that point on. Fault will likely disorient most if not all of the group and knock them on their butts. I'm not a fan of tremor at all on a WP tanker. It makes your job tougher by pushing the group out of your taunt range. Why make a negative worse by spreading them out? Just my thoughts. -
My main is a tanker with SM / WP. Hasten does indeed help. My chain runs something like this,
Start of fight if grouped:
Fault-->Taunt ( take out taunt if solo )
SS-->HM--> * Usually this takes out anything but a boss *
SM-->SF-->Taunt ( if grouped )
_Fault_
SF-->SM-->HM-->SS--> rinse repeat.
@44 I'm never without an attack up, and with Stamina and Quick Recovery I'm never without end. Pretty painless build really
Tremor, IMO is disruptive to the flow of this build. I tried it, hated it, dropped it. It DOES have it's uses, but with all the KD .. having KB slows the speed of your teams progress and worse, it makes your taunting tougher to pull off if they're spread all over the place and wandering away while disoriented. That makes Stone / WPs main weakness even more glaring. -

In this case Fire is there ( and usefully IMO ) because fireballs are associated with a nuclear blast. Fire Blast is a smaller more controlled version. Choking cloud, while not ideal from an endurance standpoint, thematically works (and I wouldn't use it very often. To be honest it's a mule to get me to the recharge I want as well as the marginal end and ranged def. although I can see where it could have it's uses too so not a complete waste)
I do appreciate the advice though.
Final analysis between both of ours is basically a wash.
You have 3% more End Recovery but use 1.09 to my .77
You have 190% Regen to my 206%
You have 186.3% Recharge to my 190%
You have considerably better Melee and Lethal Defense while I have Ranged Defense @ a marginally more (4.3%) better defense.
I'm not sure why you don't slot Stamina with the 2 performance shifters in it. I have read in many places it's the better way to slot. Be that as it may, I think they are close enough to call it a day. It's completely inspired by your very fine guide good sir! -
I see where I could have helped myself with a few places. Not adding one more slot to Radiant Aura was a complete oversight. Nice catch! I've reworked it a bit to take on a more damage focused direction. I payed attention to moar recharge ! and think I'm in the ballpark now. Of course, I'm gonna need two sugar mommas to afford this

I have a Ill/Rad I made some 4 years ago and only made it to 17 before I left for another MMO with friends and family ( I know I know the SHAME of it all !
) Anywho ! I climbed back into his skin and am enjoying him quite a bit.
I ran the Sister Psyche TF last night and knew I needed to modify him a bit. He's currently 26 ( as of this morning ). I put together this with the help of Local Mans Ill/Rad Guide ( Hiya Local Man)). I was thinking I wanted a bit more def. than I had ( I face planted several times as my team was all 25 or nearly so, and I was 2 exp. INTO 20. Facing all purples for 3/4 of the TF was harsh so I was mostly a Radiant Aura spammer and alternate AM buffer ( another /Rad was on the team ). I put PA out when it was up, for what little agro they could pull and minimal dps.
I realize this is a $$$ build, but want something to aim for. I'm building to this spec on build 2 and on build 1 is my SO ( with Teleport ) build.
Is this near enough to perma PA to be viable? It's what I was hoping for. Thanks in advance for any advice, critique or mocking

Hiya LM,
I have a Ill/Rad I made some 4 years ago and only made it to 17 before I left for another MMO with friends and family ( I know I know the SHAME of it all !) Anywho ! I climbed back into his skin and am enjoying him quite a bit.
I ran the Sister Psyche TF last night and knew I needed to modify him a bit. He's currently 26 ( as of this morning ). I put together this with the help of this thread. I was thinking I wanted a bit more def. than I had ( I face planted several times as my team was all 25 or nearly so, and I was 2 exp. INTO 20. Facing all purples for 3/4 of the TF was harsh so I was mostly a Radiant Aura spammer and alternate AM buffer ( another /Rad was on the team ). I put PA out when it was up, for what little agro they could pull and minimal dps.
I realize this is a $$$ build, but want something to aim for. I'm building to this spec on build 2 and on build 1 is my SO ( with Teleport ) build.
Is this near enough to perma PA to be viable? It's what I was hoping for. Thanks in advance for any advice, critique or mocking

Ok, both explanations made complete sense to me. Cryo, I hadn't thought of it like that. I love holds ( I have more controllers than any other AT .. but that was a long time ago
Just didn't see how it would help with this blaster, but in the mitigation department it makes sense to me.
I tend to like more cerebral characters who rely on their wits and guile as much as their powers. This plays into that nicely. -

1.) Full Auto, being a cone attack, would it benefit from a range IO or does it have a long enough range?

1.) Is taking 1 basically useless power worth taking Aid self and slotting that high really? I can see where it would be good in a PvP situation, but I never plan on PvP in CoH .. it's crap tastic and not worth the aggravation. PvE I would HOPE a team mate would toss me a heal, or barring that pop a greenie and go about my business. I just have a hard time with the negative + positive = good.
2.) Is Surveillance worth taking with one slot? Is it worth taking at all? I liked the set in it, but more than that I liked the idea that I was getting a -def -res @ range AND it was party friendly. To me that's a positive positive
Was it over slotted? I saw the -def proc and thought it was a great match for that auto power, much like a numinas proc in Health. Am I wrong in this thought?
3.) Cryo Freeze Ray + Ignite. Cryo is single target correct? Does it cycle fast enough for me to keep several mobs in the fire patch? I seems like I would have 1 maybe two in the patch and the rest scattered. Again, am I wrong?

Glad I could give a different perspective on it
I took out rain early in the build because it's such an end hog. I put it in after Stamina was in the build. I've been away a long while and I couldn't remember if the I.O.'s stop working if they are higher than the level you are running at. ( In example slotting Level 50 Ragnarok's in a level 2 Power ( fireball ) will you get the benefit of the Rags if you're exempted to 15? )
I've been learning a ton from the boards and am getting a handle on builds now I thinkI just need a tad more info to build to specific levels like yours. Thanks for letting me use you thread to get a little closer to that goal.

OK I couldn't leave well enough alone and tweaked it a bit further. I think .. *THINK* this is really the final version. I'm very happy with what I have here. I read the book a bit, skimmed it more like to find instances where they were running at increased speed and in fact they WERE faster of foot along with super leap so Super Speed didn't break the theme and allowed a little more movement options along with a yummy boost to DEF.
I put a Achilles Heel proc in Surveillance and added a heal to Health to augment my regen a bit. I put 2 slots into Power Thrust to make it a viable attack ( somewhat of a GET OUTTA MY FACE !! deal ) but more importantly to get some DEF from itLastly I took out Stun. It was melee only and since it wasn't slotted at all saw no point in keeping it so replaced it with swift to give me the ability to disengage quickly if needed while in missions.
