Sonic / Traps : A Way to set up Time Bomb?
One advice: Skip Time Bomb!!!
You can just rely on AoE Sleep and Trip Mine. Save that lvl 38 slot for something else.
Sonic/Trap is good. I have a 50 Ice/Trap.
Go with Dark and forget about Time Bomb? I am a bit confused here. "Dark" you mean Dark Blast right since you said you want to try Trap? Dark Blast has tohit debuff that fits well with your FFG defense but it is still not "sleep". If you want to toe bomb the mob, Sirens Song + Trip Mine is good enough.
Of course you can try other creative ways to make Time Bomb better. It's your game.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
Sirens Song + Trip Mine, followed by Dreadful Wail if needed sounds like fun. I'll go with that combination.
So another question then, has anyone made Time Bomb work?
i use time bomb on my blaster... it's not too bad on big farms if you're able to be stealthy and lay it before the team gets there... so you set it up and then start attacking the mob with your team, weakening the mob enough so that when time bomb goes off, it pretty much finishes off anything that's left.
that's really the only major used i've found for it... moreso a small nuke to finish a fight with than to begin one
SG: Guadians of Paragon - VG: Paragon's Darkness
The Usual Suspects: Fimboolvetr (Icer Tank), Tsukiyomi (Mind/Psi/Ice Dom), Smiting Dragon (Dm/Sr Scrap), Widow Mortis (NW)
Up and Comers: Ameterasu (Km/Reg Scrap), Arrhymian (Elec/Nin Stalk), TDMKII (Bot/Traps MM)
I have a Rad/Traps that usesTtime Bomb often enough. It's even 6 slotted. It's seen a lot of different slotting... atm it's got 6/6 Kinetic Crash I think...
I picked up a stealth IO and I also took stealth, invis, and Phase Shift. Of course the stealth + stealth IO made for laying timebomb at the start of a fight quite easy, but without laying any other traps or debuffing the enemy first, it wasn't worth it damage wise.
When I picked up Phase shift, Time bomb began to shine a bit brighter. I could aggro mobs with acid, seekers, attacks etc... phase and get a 30 sec timeout to lay Trip mine, Time bomb, trip mine, and usually another PGT or seekers. Nothing would be affected as I stood in PS... mobs would get in closer... Aim + PS toggled off... Boom Boom Boom! Scourge the rest.
I still occasionally use time bomb as an opener or pulling method, but somehow the timing of phase shift + the nophase effect is right there with my Time bomb so I call a mid combat "time-out" to nuke whatever is still standing every time the powers are available. Sure It may seem a waste to take 3 powers from the stealth pool just for Time Bomb, but I think a /Traps Corr benefits from Phase Shift for many more reasons that just its ability to make Time Bomb easier to use in combat. 8 more reasons to be exact!
"Situational power? Sure. Although in a sense... all powers are situational. It's just that some situations occur more than others." Understand the situation needed in order for the power to be most effective... and make that situation happen.

I took a pass on my Sonic / Traps. The only time I'd see that Time Bomb would be viable is if you solo exclusively. Even then, the amount of time spent to make it work dramatically slows your exp ( if you're still leveling ).
It's really one of those things that looks great on paper, but in practice, and this has been discussed time and again since that power was available, it's just about the most skip-able power in any power set.
Sirens + Trip works great.
Super Speed with a celerity +stealth in sprint ( for easy activation or deactivation ) works great too.
Dahjee--
So does the phase trick still work on live servers? I have respecs to burn and it sounds interesting, even if not the quickest method of killing things...
You can't do Sirens + Time Bomb? Just slot on sleep on Siren's song.
I've wanted to roll a Traps villain for a long time but I've had trouble deciding how I wanted to play it. I had been looking at Corruptor primaries and noticed that between Sirens Song and Dreadful Wail I might have enough in the matter of sleep and stun duration to safely set up Time Bomb. Has anyone else been able to get away with this combination? Should I go with Dark instead and forget Time Bomb altogether?
