  1. You are an evil bunny.

    I approve.

  3. Really, I'd love to see the system revamped so you have a bunch of standard "block" objects in various configurations, with selectable textures for each.

So you'd have one desk object, instead of dozens, but it would have a selectable texture.

A 4 x 8 wall, one unit thick, could have a brick texture, a computer console texture, a transparent texture (to make windows), etc.

You could easily add many objects in the future by just adding textures instead of having to model new geometry every time.

Similar to what we have in the costume creator, many costume parts have a selectable texture.

While we're at it, in the same control window where you could select texture, have controls for numerical positioning (x-y-z coords), and maybe even object glow and aura controls.

  4. Making exceptions to policy isn't a smart idea.

One guy wants one thing, the next guy wants two, the next guy four.

"You broke the rules for that guy, why can't you do it for me?"

It had been suggested to me to use the arcane version of the slow field device as it's a bit smaller.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Tech versions make a good sized black disc that apparantly has a green base or something because the water distortion effect smears it out to a big green blob highly visible around the disc.

The Arcane version is just a tiny block.

  6. The reason for the spaces is that the doorways between rooms is where people spawn in a base raid. They needed multiple places in a base to spawn that were free of obstructions. Putting them IN the rooms would be a bit more difficult to do.

Then people found ways to close off the doorways with base items so attacking forces couldn't get past. Kinda breaks the base raiding 'game'.

So they took the base raiding offline til they can figure out a new way so people can't block off invaders like that. But in the meanwhile they still have the 1x1 block doorways.

Personally, I'd love it if you were required to declare your base raidable or not, and those "not" would be able to just do stuff like get a huge base-size room and have wall and floor items to divide up the base as they see fit.

  7. I made an entire 1x1 area into a Zero Room.

Modern Art Frames for the walls, set back from the actual walls a notch so the corners overlapped properly. White wall cabinets for the floor cos the tops tile together as pure white. The ceiling is one of the fluorescent light panels, tiled across.

There's a big "0" above the entry door and no other features except a pair of chairs with a foot table between then.

Dunno what it's actually for yet, but if we need a Zero Room we have one.

    Base Bug?

    Yes.

Still keep it under 12000 items, though.

    spiral staircase

Find the sticky in this forum about stacking items. Read it.

Start stacking stuff in a spiral pattern to form stairs. There's a few ramp items in Room Details that work well. Floor lamps make good railings.

    That's it. Really.

    Save Option?

    Nope, no save.

Been on a lot of people's wish lists.

    Underwater base?

The Slow Field crafted base defensive item can create distortions that look like water.

It actually has a background pattern that slowly moves, but unfortunately the ripples themselves are static and still.

  12. Mebbe just make all decorative items be non-clipping during a base raid?

Would simplify things - Only functional items would need to be checked for pathing issues.

  13. Assuming you have enough energy and control, it's probably a bug. Contact customer service to have your base jumpstarted.

  14. You can also use accent lamps instead of safes, so less are needed.

Make a stack of 3-4 accent lamps, and you can slide the floor tile up and down the column as needed.

Note that the floor tile is see-through if viewed from below, so you might want to just use it to position stuff in the air instead of using it as a floor directly. I use desks butted against each other laid out to form a floor on top of the floor tile, and delete the floor tile when I'm done.

I've also used the small recessed ceiling lights on the underside of a floor tile to cover up the see-through bottom, but that takes a lot of lights and is really tedious. (You can drop ceiling mounted stuff by making a column of lamps and sliding stuff down to the right height)

Mirrors would be a MAJOR change to the game engine. They'd have to make the mirrors so blurry they'd really be like that ugly metallic finish all over Grandville.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny aside - You know how City Hall in Atlas has a reflective floor?

Ever wonder why it reflects the room structures but not the people in the room?

    That's because the floor isn't actually reflective - it's semi-transparent and there's a duplicate room upside-down under the floor.

You used to be able to teleport into there early on, but that got fixed. Some mean people would teleport team-mates down there and if you didn't have some teleport ability yourself you had to petition a GM to get out.

    =)

i'm surprised to see so many devs playing WoW... aren't they the enemy?

    <.<

... at GenCon (1995, I think?) I was by the NCSoft/Cryptic booth when the door to their private area opened, and i got a glimpse inside.

It was only for a few moments because somebody was just getting more flyers out of a box, but there was a couple of NCSoft booth workers in there on computers.

    They were playing WoW.

Clearly the devs have a time machine! Use it to get us Issue 9 faster!

    Dammit, I meant 2005.

Although, I was at GenCon 1995 too.

I get them mixed up some times.

    I'm old.

  18. I tried talking to CTab in the persona of Guardia, the Guardian Force's sentient AI aboard the orbiting Vigil Station.

Guardia now has numerous logic faults and stack overflow errors to be fixed.

    Damn you CTab.

    -np

What's odd is that Guardia and CTab are technically related - Guardia incorporated several of PTab's processing routines during her initial code restructuring. I guess cousins don't necessarily understand each other.

  20. Problem is, sometimes you don't WANT others to know what character you are on as, at least for roleplay purposes.

I would like to see the ability to selectively hide the character you are using from displaying in the extended information of the Global Friends window.

It made me think of that old B movie "Toxic the Avenger" that they translate in french "Toxic le Ravageur".

    [/ QUOTE ]
The original movie was "The Toxic Avenger". "Toxic" as in "toxic waste", not "Toxic" as a name. It actually really changes the meaning to switch the words around.

I was wondering who took the name "ninja pirate" in Test...

    [/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't me, oddly. I have a character on Guardian named Pirate-Ninja that I copied over to test... I was quite surprised how THAT was still available, on both test and Guardian. So, bug someone else about that.

And now the world will explode for your pleasure and amusement, as two pirating ninjas is too much for reality to withstand.
