One thing I've done to help with this is to put the 'active' arcane beacons in a hidden location (like under the floor) and put tech beacons next to the arcane teleporter so it's easier to figure out which goes to what zone.

  2. You slide the bonfire under a raised floor section.

Raise the floor section where you want the lava. Next to it, have a floor section a step lower than the lava area.

Drop a bonfire onto the lower area, and angle your camera so you can slide the bonfire under the floor into the lava area - WITHOUT TOUCHING THE FLOOR of the lava area.

If your cursor touches the lava's floor, it will pop the bonfire up onto the surface instead of staying at the elevation of the lower area.

Once you have the fire or fires placed how you want them, adjust the lowest lighting to an intense hellish red-orange and pick a lava-looking floor pattern. For best effect lower the lighting in the upper areas of the room.

    super computer

    This guy's back again?

You need to earn the Mentoring Badge to unlock the supercomputer.

To get the Mentoring Badge you need to lead teams for a total of four hours. But not in AE. Regular missions or patrolling.

    It's that simple.

This is at LEAST the fifth time it's been explained to you. You even got links before to the ParagonWiki page explaining in detail how to get that badge.

  4. Probably the only thing you might craft using the Basic Worktable for functional purposes is the Holodisplay.

Even then the Holodisplay is more often used as a decorative item than purely for generating Control.

All the other stuff besides the telepads that you can craft using the Basic Worktable is for player vs player base combat, which is disabled right now anyway. Some of it looks nifty, though, so folks use them as decorative items like the Holodisplay.

If you aren't using the worktable, you can save on some rent each month by deleting it.

  5. Nifty idea.

Not going to see any base changes for a while, though:

    - All the Base folks are working on Going Rogue.

    - They've made it sound like they'd rather overhaul the base editor completely than keep adding bits to the existing one.

    Still, here's hoping.

  6. It's too bad the current game engine doesn't support 'real' reflective surfaces.

There's one in the game right now, the floor of City Hall, but that's a cheat - it's a reversed version of city hall upside down under a semitransparent floor. Used to be, you could teleport down into there.

Reflectivity is supposed to be part of the Ultra Mode update, however. Hopefully we'll see a mirror or three after that in the editor.

  7. Highlighted the problem spots mentioned:

Doors won't form if there's objects on or too close to the wall where the editor wants to put the door. If the editor can't form ANY doors, it won't let you place the room.

I would start by removing whatever's on the wall in the right side. As long as the editor can create one doorway, the room will be allowed to be placed. That way you don't have to mess with the stuff you placed at the area on the bottom of the screenshot. You can then manually place the second doorway to the far left where it looks clear.

  8. The Fusion Generator is your friend.

It kicks out 25000 energy. Needs to be crafted, though.

There's a number of ways to increase Control.

Alternately, switch your base to one of the Secure plots.

This allows a second generator (and a second control primary) to be placed.

    It's 7,812,500 prestige, though.

If you can afford to drop down to 20x24 squares, the Secure plot one size down is the same price as your old plot.

    -np
  9. Yeah, seriously.

There's nothing worse than having to tear down several hundred objects because you realized later that the rooms aren't where they need to be positioned.

Objects can interfere with the doorways being placed, which can sometimes make it impossible to move a room to a new spot. And the system won't TELL you which object or objects are the offending pieces, so you have to keep removing stuff till it lets you place the room.

So, make sure you finalize the room layout as much as possible before dropping in any objects.

    They're both resource sinks.

One, however, is being used all over the place.

    The other is not.

You don't spend the time, energy, and resources to program up a feature and expect folks not to use it. If it's not being used there's something wrong with it.

    -np
  12. Use a different style banner.

All items with a SG emblem adopt whatever emblem is on the last one placed.

So if you have a dozen 'Medium Arcane Banner 1' items already placed, placing another one will force all the existing ones to the new one's emblem. But if you place a 'Medium Arcane Banner 2' it won't affect those other banners, since it's counted as a different item style.

    -np
  13. Oh hell yes.

I've seen folks make basic functional bases with a third of that amount.

You can probably afford a half dozen teleporters (taking you to a dozen places), a resurrection ring, some workshop/storage items, and the energy/control items to run them all, and still have plenty of Prestige left over for decorating.

You'll temporarily need the Crafting Worktables for a few of the items (teleporters, etc), but those you can sell back after you're done with them.

  14. If you got the inf to spare, a monitor room with a wall 'o beacons and computery stuff.

I wish there were decorative versions of the beacons that could be placed in any room.

And herein lies the design flaw.

A resource sink isn't a resource sink unless people actually USE it.

If you set the exchange rate too high, like it is now, most folks won't even consider using it. Which defeats part of the purpose of HAVING the resource sink.

    Base building

The person who is removing your posts is the guy in charge of this message board.

He can also choose to ban you so you cannot post at all, if he feels like it.

Your question was answered MULTIPLE TIMES.

Go into SG mode. Start a team with at least one other lower level player. Play for 5 hours total.

That's it. That's all you have to do to unlock the supercomputer.

    -np
  17. And at the same time, they made it even easier in i13 to stack stuff and put objects through each other, therefore making it easier to create indestructible boxes and barriers around PvP-destructable items.

    -np
  18. Dude, this is like the third thread you've created asking the same question. People have answered you each time. The answer's been the same, every time.

Have people sidekick each other in your supergroup in SG mode for a total of 5 hours to get the badge. That unlocks the supercomputer.

    See Here

    -np
  19. Ah, yeah, sorry. I play mostly heroside. So, there is one use for the Mission Computer.

I wish it allowed you to access the Mission Architect system.

    -np
  20. Okay, a few things: (click on links for more detail)

Raid telepads do nothing right now. Those are for player vs player (PvP) superbase combat, which was disabled a while ago. They used to allow you to teleport to another supergroup's base to attack it.

The Mission Computers also do nothing right now except eat up Energy and Control. They do look cool, though - I use them for decorative purposes. They used to allow access to the Cathedral of Pain Trial, which allowed you to obtain Items of Power for Base PvP. Since Base PvP was disabled, so was the CoP Trial.

Items of Power, their bases, Dimensional Anchors, and Vault Rooms all are also related to Base PvP and are likewise disabled (Though the Vault Rooms function as regular rooms).

If you were looking to teleport around the city, you need the 'normal' basic telepads which have to be crafted. Once you craft them they appear in the "Place Personal Item" menu, not the Base Editing menu. Once placed they can be moved around in the regular base editor.

Note that you need Teleport Beacons to use the Basic Telepads. You unlock those by visiting various locations around the city while in Supergroup Mode.

The Supercomputer is a Control producing item. If you cannot afford one, you may be able to get away with using a Mainframe instead and attaching a few auxiliary control items to it.

Poke around the Paragon Wiki, it has lots of Base info.

    Building walls?

Use a Cubicle. Wall items stick to those.

You can elevate the cubicle with Floor Safes or whatever to get higher walls.

    -np
  22. The cells gates aren't movable, they're the wall wire bundles floated in the air using cubicles. He just has some cells in the 'open' position and some 'closed'.

The Vet Reward power mentioned allows you to teleport your whole team to a spot near you. Like, for example into a closed off 'jail cell'.

    -np
  23. I made one using a double row of desks set in the floor and a bunch of the round wall lamps placed face to face as 'rollers'.

    -np
  24. Plas is still around, just not that active on the forums.

    (She's my main SG's co-leader)

    -np
  25. Yeah, all the active items are set up this way.

You need a primary item first, and auxiliary items attach to it.

    Bookshelves are an auxiliary item.
