How Much Prestiege?

I normally either join a friend's SG to earn prestiege for them or make one for myself that doesn't have a base.

However, I have one SG that I'm the sole survivor of-- the friends I made it with have long since left the game. I checked on one of my Alts that's in that SG and I seem to have over a million prestiege in it.

Also, since that toon has never left SG mode and she's now 47, I seem to have gotten a fair number of SG base enhancements earned ...

Here's my question:

Do I have enough prestiege to make a base now that could be maintained by one person?

The main thing that I'd like to have in a base would be the beacons. I would also like storage space, but I don't need the Autodoc or a huge base.

Short answer: Yes.
Longer answer: Hell yes.

The base rent system was overhauled bigtime. You can build a massive base, on a 24x24 plot, with full power and control, and all teleporters and it can cost ZERO rent. None of those items cost rent.

Items that cost rent are:
- storage items
- empowerment stations
- workbenches
- medical aux items
- (and some oddball stuff, like the Flames of Hephaestus)

Even if you load your base up with storage and workbenches, you can *EASILY* manage the upkeep yourself. I run an SG with a honking big base. We have 18 storage items and various workbenches and empowerment stations and the rent is just 2900 per month. Even a low-damage character should be able to earn that much solo in less than an hour.

Oh hell yes.

I've seen folks make basic functional bases with a third of that amount.

You can probably afford a half dozen teleporters (taking you to a dozen places), a resurrection ring, some workshop/storage items, and the energy/control items to run them all, and still have plenty of Prestige left over for decorating.

You'll temporarily need the Crafting Worktables for a few of the items (teleporters, etc), but those you can sell back after you're done with them.

even with items that do add rent, the rent is actually pretty hard to get above 2000

my base is mostly self run and i have the most expensive power and control units, 7-8 storage things, med bay, all the tps, empowerment station, IO worktable and all of that is only costing me 1500 rent like every 4 weeks (i can make about 1000 prestige in 1 paper mish on the lowest diff setting (varies a little due to map size), but its very easy to upkeep a base nowadays)

Cool!

Now is there a very basic guide here that could tell me how to make a base that would do what I want?

I will tell you the one thing that I have found out in my base building, think of flow of your rooms before you place them! This is just a fun little tidbit that after building and tearing down 3 bases I have discovered. Good luck and post pics of your work, we love sharing ideas.

Yeah, seriously.

There's nothing worse than having to tear down several hundred objects because you realized later that the rooms aren't where they need to be positioned.

Objects can interfere with the doorways being placed, which can sometimes make it impossible to move a room to a new spot. And the system won't TELL you which object or objects are the offending pieces, so you have to keep removing stuff till it lets you place the room.

So, make sure you finalize the room layout as much as possible before dropping in any objects.

yeah... I am still trying to rebuild my speakeasy room on Red Side after having to tear down the entire show girl stage only to find out it was the other room that had the blockage....

May have had something to do with Eliot Ness.

Okay, I got my base set up.

I have one teleporter, and bins for Salvage, Inspirations, and Enhancements.

I used the very basic combo control/power set, and so far I am not going beyond the power needs it supplies.

Somehow I created recessed flooring in a couple of places where I don't want it and I'm trying to figure out how to rectify that.

I was very tempted to get the Supercomputer but so far I have resisted the temptation.

(It's not that I think I'll ever need its functions, but with a big LCD Screen in front of it it'd look a lot like the trouble alert from the Superfriends.)

I think that I'll have to put in some decoration as my control room looks very bare, but I can't seem to put much in there that's functional.

Do I need the Basic Workbench for anything other than making teleporters?

Click on the floor of the area that's depressed so that the blue square is there. Go to "place room" (the button that gets you the room tabs). One of your miscellaneous windows will have a level-by-level picture of that square in it (otherwise, it'll have the lighting info in it, if that's what you were playing with). there are three levels of ceiling, three levels of floor, and a VERY LARGE block in between. Experiment with clicking in that window, and you'll figure out how to rectify the situation. Note that, with some exceptions, you can't move the ceiling or floor around if there's something touching it (or with a very close border).

The supercomputer is a good mid-range investment, when you have extra prestige lying around, because you can run an entire base on just it (unless you have a lot of defense items). or it and a database or two. Good to keep in mind if you decide you need more teleporters.

Probably not.

Probably the only thing you might craft using the Basic Worktable for functional purposes is the Holodisplay.

Even then the Holodisplay is more often used as a decorative item than purely for generating Control.

All the other stuff besides the telepads that you can craft using the Basic Worktable is for player vs player base combat, which is disabled right now anyway. Some of it looks nifty, though, so folks use them as decorative items like the Holodisplay.

If you aren't using the worktable, you can save on some rent each month by deleting it.

That's "place item".

You're right, Cende. It's both. Checked it out earlier tonight.
