  1. At around 10pm last night I hopped servers. I used to be a dedicated Defiant player however due to the lack of numbers I have been playing on Union a little lately.

Blueside at 10pm there were 146 players listed on Union and 91 listed on Defiant, of course this cannot be counted as a complete list as players may be hidden etc.

Hardly dead but this only makes 18 or 11 full teams in the very best case scenario, but in reality much less.

Agreed and a list merge was what I was referring to, as I mentioned extra slots/servers.
  3. Baring in mind that a market merge was always said to be either "difficult" or "not happening anytime soon", it parallels our situation pretty well.

The only reason in my view that the market merge is happening is that it is important for GR, where as any sort of server list merge isn't. I still believe it can be done, it's just not a priority at the moment, sucks eh?

To be fair I'm not even convinced by the argument that a merge spells bad PR for the game as it could mean US players would get extra servers and slots, also it's clear the game will not be marketed in Europe anyway.

You could say that a market merge was the devs listening to the players or you could also say that it was the best or only solution they could come up with to make GR work...in the words of big brother "you decide"

Actually for the EU it's not

  7. Well, if they can merge the markets....
  8. I have one.

    And lol @ CAPTAIN HEINEKEN
  9. English - very good (native)
    French - some
    German - a little
    Drunk - perfect
  10. Arcs certainly seem weird to some players.

I run PUGs all the time and I use a mixture of radio missions and arcs, the other night as I was in Steel and level 17 so I decided to run the Midnighter arc.

After spending some time assembling a team, I managed to get a fairly nice balance and after waiting what seemed like an age for some players to get to the mission from Atlas we were ready to go.

Whilst waiting I looked at some of the players info, hmm mixture of vets and newbies, should be ok I thought…

Well I soon realised that our tank (despite his vet badges) was one of those just stood there waiting for someone to do something and despite having scrappers and blasters, my defender ends up drawing all the agro as no one else will do anything. I politely explained that perhaps my fender shouldn’t “tank” and talked about agro, but no dice.

Somehow I manage to survive through most of the missions, one or two defeats excepted and erm I’m sorry Lady Jane. Anyway I go on to craft the lost cure and despite constant communication with the team it’s clear no-one has a clue what’s going on, so I end up doing the final part almost solo.

I then suggested that perhaps we should go to Faultline and do the Jim Temblor arc, as Fusionette will no doubt need some assistance (again), no laughs…it seems the none of the team have heard of Fusionette? I explain to the team that the arc is good and has AV’s etc. The team seems keen, however after 10 minutes of waiting, half of the team hasn’t arrived as they have no idea how to get to faultline (these were not all new players), they seem keen to get on a train, I explain that there is no train line to Faultline, and that either get the train to Skyway, use Pocket D, base TP or mission TP if you have it. After 5 more minutes 3 players quit in a row, no doubt because (despite my polite instructions and offer to use my base) they can’t find Faultline.

Luckily I recruit a couple more players and we begin, in the first mission we find Fusionette and the player leading her out doesn’t seem to get the idea and after lots of prompting, seeming starts to move towards the exit, however ends up going completely the wrong way running into the last remaining mob on the map, faceplants and then suddenly quits without a word.

    Work is less effort sometimes

    This gets my vote.

There are a lack of posts by the rednames in all the sections of the forum lately, suspect they are pretty busy with GR.

Although it's maketing and NCSoft that really hold the answers, we can only post here as this is our only real point of contact.

Anyway, I'm not really sure what the devs can add to the above, clearly nothing is gonna happen soon (if at all), they seem unable to even give a vague expectation, which could end up being either good or bad news in the long run.

As customers I feel we should be at least given an expectation, however if they are unwilling (or unable) to do so, I guess there's not much we can do.

I would pay for more without a doubt but, if it was in a "costume slot booster pack" I’d expect a little more, as we’d have loads more slots perhaps a few more civilian pieces would be good and/or some special cc emotes.

    Death Emotes.

Well as said above we don't exactly die do we.

However there is already one "death emote" or sort of - self destruction.

When I'm defeated and select go to hospital, I kinda wanna see some medics turn up and put me on a stretcher
  18. I like it, nice idea.

I love the concept of Electrical Shock - especially if it came with some cool animation.
  19. Night Hornet

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

Night Hornet has a magic origin and basically his life is a mess. He’s often moody and drinks vodka very heavily, for a hero he also knows the better part of valour more than others, although that’s not to say he can’t be heroic either.

The problem that he has, is that he is haunted by a voice and sometimes a vision of his dead father. The voice appears to be some sort of deity or creator and often pre-empts events, these moments have sometimes given Hornet a possible insight into the fact that he may well be a character in a game or a comic rather than being “real”, he has so far chosen to ignore this.

He is tormented by the fact he remembers two pasts – one where he grew up as a lonely kid in an orphanage and another where a magic spell went wrong granting him powers but also killing his father at the same time. The “voice” explaining this as “I wanted to make your bio more realistic” has only confused him further.

Night Hornet can often be seen sitting on the top of skyscrapers pondering about his reality.

Night Hornet is a Dual Blades/Willpower Scrapper and yellow tinted vanguard blades are his weapon of choice.

    Have some vodka

I'm sure there are many factors other than just coding as Avatea says, I guess a list merge could have impacts such as potential jobs loses in EU support etc, our servers will be on some kinda contract so there will be financial considerations. Also I guess there is the perception of a merge with GR coming, plus a merge puts their whole player-base at risk if it's problematic. No doubt there would be other factors we can't even think of.

I'm only guessing that a merge is the general plan as the total lack of marketing and boxed edition leaves us with no real future in my opinion.

The EU needs something to happen soon or at least some news of plans or direction, I'm just pointing out that it may not be as simple as some people may think.

I can't give you explanations as to the type of hurdle we have to overcome and that's probably not going to please some of you, but I guarantee you that they are not the type that can be resolved with a bit of coding.

About the newsletter links, no, it wasn't an effort to drive you towards the North American site, the automatic geo-IP redirect is simply not functioning well but our web team is now aware of the issue. Thank you for alerting us.
Avatea, thanks again for posting and it’s nice to see a red name saying that there is a gap. I know it must be difficult to deal with some of us currently but I get the feeling that you understand.

However I’ve read your post a few times and I get that there are some hurdles to overcome, but this part of your post almost seems to contradict it's self:

“I really wish I could convey the fact that there is no active effort to increase the gap between our North American and European communities. “On the contrary, in the background, you have no idea how much we'd like to do to improve things”.

Maybe I’ve just had too much vodka (if such a thing is possible), but the first part seems to suggest that you are working on something but then when you go on to say how much you’d like to do something, it suggests to me that nothing is happening.

Perhaps, my head could be clearer but surely either you are doing something (or at least have plans) or you’re not?
