So I've just read up on some Rikti Lore, and learned about "The Strange Tale of Benjamin A. Decker", which I'm sure everyone has done. (5 Levels for me!)
And... it made me really want to make a Rikti Character. A former human turned Rikti.
So I'm curious... this is Virtue, the RP Server. Have any of you made Rikti toons? And if so, how'd you manage to do it, because I have no idea how to go about it. I know that if I'm creative enough I can probably pull one off, but I want suggestions. -
I use the Mission Architect solely for roleplaying reasons.
My SG (Well, VG, but they're basically the same thing...) makes MA arcs all the time, and a friend of mine makes some killer mini arcs.
I do wish that everyone could talk to the contact instead of just the team leader, or that you could add cutscenes, but I think it's an incredibly powerful tool. -
I think Accessing Radio/News Paper Missions and AE sounds good. Perhaps task forces and Difficulty Changers as well.
Market is a bit of a stretch, but I can see that too.
Some of the other stuff seems like a bit much though... and you can access the arena from anywhere anyway. -
I think the main issue is that the content of the packs are different.
Cyborg and Magic are somewhat similar. They're mostly costume sets, with some emotes, and an inherent power. (And by the way, I find SD very useful as a Ghetto Base Teleporter.)
Superscience has a costume set and some new emotes, but it's main "feature" is the Super Tailor. The costumes and emotes take a back seat to that. -
No matter what origin you pick, 9 out of 10 enhancements you find will be incompatible with you. (I.E. If you run a Magic Origin, you'll only find Technology, Natural, and Science Enhancements. You might even find Mutation if you're lucky, but I doubt it...)
Your Inventory will fill up with useless crap about 5 minutes after you clean it out a bit.
If you have the default Keymaps, there is a very good chance that you will accidentally manage to pop ALL OF YOUR INSPIRATIONS while trying to attack after popping a Revive.
There is always that one mob that will immediately turn it's attention away from everyone else to beat on the poor guy who just tried to use a revive...
If you are on Nerva, are below level 30, and are running newspaper missions, 9/10 times said mission will be in the Cave on Granny Bedlam's Island. (That Cave Map is the Devil's Spawn, especially since my toon is 8 feet tall, so the camera doesn't work properly...)) -
And that still doesn't answer what happens if the leader decides to switch sides.
I mean, the easiest thing to do would be to make all SGs Neutral, and have the owners enforce H/V/N faction ties. It does **** for immersion, but it's easiest way I can think of...
I mean, otherwise the entire system would be upended. -
This is one of those logic questions that's been kind of bugging me...
Currently, the game is 90% Segregated. Each side has their own classes, their own content, and overlap only exists in a few places.
When Going Rogue comes out, people are going to be hopping sides like mad, partially for new content, partially for badges, partially because they really like brutes and want to take them to Paragon for a change.
But... here's the thing... Currently, supergroups are side segregated. When GR comes out, people are going to want to switch sides, but their is kind of... tied...
I mean, from an immersion point of view, it makes sense to force people to quit their SGs when switching sides... But depending on how often you need to switch sides, this could just be impractical.
And what if you lead a SG? Does everyone switch sides? Do you lose all of your prestige?
Will all SG's become neutral?
This is one of those questions that just sort of awkwardly nags at you... especially with Hero Con coming up... -
Well... when Going Rogue comes out, Heroes and Villains are going to be switching sides constantly. Zone Segregation works for now, but I feel as though being forced to switch alignment to visit the opposite zone is counter productive.
In fact, it would mean that everyone would be hopping from side to side constantly, or staying as a Vigilante/Rogue all the time.
So here's what I propose...
First and foremost, there should be a way for Heroes and Villains to access the opposite faction's area. This could be referred to as "Going Undercover" for Heroes, and "Infiltration" for Villains.
Thus, a Hero could access the Rogue Isles, and a Villain could Access Paragon City. This opens up some potential new plotlines.
This isn't a perfect answer... it's actually probably been stated before... but with the side switching that is soon to be going on, we need a way for people to access the other side without compromising their alignment or everyone is going to go neutral out of convenience. -
Quote:That was kind of my fault... *whistles innocently*I got a brand new tank up to 17,
then realized I had previously wanted to change servers.
too cheap and creditcardless to buy a server changer, I remade my tank and got him back up to 17.
And that was playing maybe 3 hours a day.
I sort of ditched him on Guardian because I couldn't resist the RPz...
Hi suits. -
I got my brute to level 26 (From like... level 17.) And I reached 50k Prestige in my SG for a rank up. (Plus we need a new generator).
Of course, I didn't play constantly... did some RP stuff in between (honestly, it makes everything way more fun. XD)
But yeah. I would say I accomplished quite a bit over a few days. I've got Health, Stamina, and Rise to the Challenge Now (I just need some IOs...) -
The ability for Rogue/Vigilante Characters to travel freely between Paragon City and the Rogue Isles... or at the very least the ability to be a "Good Guy" in the Rogue Isles and a "Bad Guy" in Paragon. (Which I think is one of the main points of the expansion...)
Some costume tweaks (My Hair does not need to match the band on my hat Jay! D
More information on what the hell the Blood of the Black Stream is...
Oh, and Rikti as an AT would be cool. Coralax too. -
-
Let's see...
I saved Port Oakes from being turned into a (literal) hellhole, I busted a shipment of Supradine, Rescued a woman from the CoT, busted a Skull weapons trade, and got a stick of zombie summoning.
Then I went to the D (and my SG's base), where a very nice SG mate of mine helped me get the salvage needed for a costume slot. (Which I promptly equipped with a more casual outfit.)
I also tweaked my look a bit, spent some time in the D, hung out with some friends...
Then I sat on monitor duty when I logged out.
I'm somewhat delusional in my interpretation of missions... -
Evil is really a matter of perspective. Which is why it weird me out so much that Arachnos refers to themselves as "Villains" and their enemies as "Heroes".
It makes "Captain Mako, Hero of Sharkhead Isle" seem almost sane...
Almost.
But that's beside the point. Even if we did somehow manage to eradicate every single villain group in the game, then new villain groups would show up. Some (not all) formerly good people would become corrupted, aliens could invade, another extradimensional portal could open up, et cetera.
And even then, completely eradicating all that is evil would require massive genocide/reprogramming, which is evil in itself. It's a paradox. -

Logged on as Jester,
Woke up in Pocket D,
Insulting to kid or kid-like characters for hanging around in the D.
Made innuendo comments to a being whose face was made of goo about how wonderful our last night was together,
Made said beings friend upset cause she didn't know.
Wandered off.
Tried to get candy from some little pink demon girl,
Got refused,
Suspect candy was poisoned.
Insulted someone else,
Tried to get candy from them,
Was refused,
Suspect 'What you looking at Blondie?' not a good way to ask for candy. Will have to do more testing.
Patted War Witch on the posterior, called her Fruit Stripe,
Didn't feel good after she looked at me funny.
Superdyne syringe made it all better.
Insulting to a little girl who was an vampire/phoenix mix,
Watched her get someone else to bleed themselves so she could have a drink,
Tried to get said person to bleed themselves again for my own shot.
Was ignored.
Tried to get said person to go into business selling blood to vampires in the D.
Produced a spigot.
Was ignored.
Entreprenureal spirit in Paragon City is dead.
Tried to sell soul to a devil girl for ten dollars and a coupon for a free coke at Six Flags,
Couldn't figure out how to give up soul without eviseraction,
Had to admit already sold soul for a pack of cigarettes last week,
Deal breaker.
Met a bard who had a green hat and a green coat which he got from a leprechaun in Ireland. I suspect this Leprechaun was named Bono.
Wanted him to sing song "Burning Busload of Nuns"
He claimed he didn't know it.
No appreciation for the classics.
Accused ERP Policeman of actually being a male stripper who got lost going to a bachlorette party.
Tried to get the ERP Policeman to strip, even played 'Notorious' for him.
Shook a bloody one dollar bill at him.
He wrote me a ticket then left.
Hit on the bartender who said she only liked women,
Tried to make connection by claiming same thing. She wasn't biting.
Fell asleep under a piece of cardboard behind the bar.
Dreamed of a world without war or suffering or tragedy.
Woke up screaming. -
Today I spent about... um... 2 hours? 3 maybe... A long time writing an origin story and blurb for my SS/WP Brute The NightErrant because I wanted to try the whole roleplaying thing.
Then he was busted out of the Zig and immediately began doing mercenary work and suffering mild moral dilemmas. -
Then dress up as how you would look if you "went rogue". You don't have to be your literal Pratoerian self. XD
-
...What about differences in inventory?
Or current missions? Or mission flags? Or badge progress? -
So... Halloween is coming up in a few weeks, as is Hero Con.
I had a crazy idea for a sort of server wide theme event. Not even a costume contest (I lack the funds for prizes), but an event in honor of Going Rogue.
It... lacks a catchy name currently, but the basic idea is that everyone dresses up as the "Praetorian" version of themselves. This doesn't mean "just add a goatee", but if you're strapped for cash you can. I mean what you would imagine your toon would be like if they hailed from Praetoria instead of Primal Earth. If you don't want to even bother with that much, you could create a "Rogue" version of your toon instead. ...Or you could add a goatee.
Then we could have a Halloween party in Pocket D while we aren't Trick Or Treating/Fighting Zombies/Whatever.
And maybe if someone else would be willing to organize it (because I'm too poor and noobish to do so) we could have a costume contest.
I dunno, what do you think? Fun Halloween/Hero Con thing?
In fact... if it's possible... we could even host a version on the test server during Hero Con as well?
I should have probably mentioned this there first... o_o; -
I wish I could bring my Brute... He has a slightly better costume, while my Hero has a more detailed back story. But then again, I need money more on my hero since I play him more. XD
-
YES.
After last night's mission, I would be very happy to request that. (It was a "Defeat all Enemies" mission on a MASSIVE caves map. You know, the kind where the pathways look like walls and your camera randomly zooms in and the last two enemies you need to kill are randomly hiding off in some corner some where? Yeah, those...) -

I don't see why they shouldn't be account wide. For one, you've still earned them. If your level 1 brute has Roman Armor, then that means that at some point you beat up Romulus. It doesn't cheapen it, it just makes it more convenient.
I mean, when you buy a superbooster, it unlocks the costume pieces account wide. Why shouldn't in game pieces work the same way? -
I wrote a new Bio, and I got a shiny new pair of wings.
Though I might remove said wings... I dunno. I'm aiming for best non human, but I'm severely outclassed. -
Let's see...
Vincent, my Claws/Dark Armor Scrapper (who I imported from a story I'm working on, and eventually adopted his name as my Forum handle because I used my regular handle as a log in name...) is a human who was turned into a "Vaguely-Demonic-Looking-Dragon-Thing by a dragon worshiping cult.
Since he looks so frightening, he'd be able to scare off enemies just by being near them. (Cloak of Fear, though I don't have that power yet).
In addition, he'd have to have enormous strength of will in order not to have a nervous break down over the fact that he's... a VDLDT. (+Psi Resistance) However, since he's so new at being a VDLDT, he's still somewhat awkward, and quite easy to knock off balance. (-Knockback)
On the flipside, my SS/WP Brute Night-Errant was a normal human who found a cursed suit of armor and gained super strength and endurance. (+STR +DEF) (Though, if that's all it did, then it was more "enchanted" than "cursed"...) In order to actually locate the armor, I'd expect he'd have to have some knowledge of history or magic. (+int? -psi?)
However, he does have difficulty controlling the exact degree of strength he uses. (-Dex). That's what led him to end up in the Zig, which led him to the rogue islands, which led him to become a bounty hunter. ...Seriously waiting for GR with that one. -
How's this then...
Most of the stuff I have to say has been said before, so I'll focus on stuff I haven't seen yet.
Firstly, there has to be a Nemesis Introductory Mission. I think that's a given though, so I'll move on to the next point.
The random spawning thing is a good idea, but there's some other possibilities as well. First of all, certain missions (Mostly AE ones) could have a Nemesis flag. So rather than "insert random critter here" it would insert 1-8 Nemesises... Nemesi. I don't know the plural.
Similarly, there is a chance that a Newspaper/Radio Mission would involve your Nemesis as a boss, or that they would appear during a safeguard/mayhem mission.
And finally, scripted Nemesis Boss Encounters would be interesting. Like that 8 man villain team that was mentioned.
