  1. Can failed / successful mission arc in two different directions?

Has a choice been made if temp powers will be allowed to be issued, even if it last just as long as the mission does?
  2. *weeps with joy*

This has made an otherwise drab day wondrous!
  3. [ QUOTE ]
A: This is probably the most complex part of the Merit Reward system. Different types of tasks have different diminishing rates.

-Story Arcs do not have diminishing returns.
-Task Forces without a second reward option will have their rewards reduced by 50% each time the task is completed within 24 hours. So if a task force gives 50 merits the first time done within 24 hours, then the second time will give 25, the third time will give 12, the fourth time 6. This is reset after 24 hours. Also, I wanted to remind players that the 24 hour diminishing returns set up that we currently have may be subject to change.
-Task Forces and Trials with unique rewards (respecs or unique enhancements) grant full merit rewards for the first completion within 24 hours and 50% merit rewards for each subsequent completion. So if the first run through a task gives 50 merits, each subsequent run through will give 25.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Phew! I'm glad those Task Forces and Trials get 50% easier every time you run them in a 24 hour period. Otherwise, it would really screw up the risk vs reward thing you've got going there.

I always liked Geko. He was surly for sure =)
    I can only guess BAB (or others) has some funny or painful stories of Geko -- although it seemed he didn't mesh very well with the others. In fact, Geko always seemed like the black sheep of the red names. You see a lot of red names posting playfully back and forth, but I can't remember anyone ever doing this with Geko... And they always made fun of his spelling =}

What about Geko? Obviously he's no longer with you guys, but when did he leave? Did he get shifted over to the other Cryptic project(s)?

Also, very impressive that such a small team is running such a large project. Really sheds light on the situation -- and it also explains why NCSoft still supports the game to the degree that they do. I'm guessing the payoff for CoH is better now then a year ago.

I can't get to the link (at work), but does it just require files be in 3D Studio Max form? If so, I'm pretty sure SketchUp can export to their file type.

    Cryptic coolness

Although it's not 3D Studio Max, SketchUp from Google is a pretty impressive 3D model program. And considering it's $4,000 cheaper than 3D Studio Max (it's free), it's a nice proggie to dabble in.

I made this in about two hours with zero previous experience with the program. It's not a CoH model, but it is a testimony to how easy the program is to learn.

Here's the odd bit. I put a handful of items into WW last night and today, all of the ones I recall putting in there were there or sold, minus the one selling for 30 million influence. Even though I put them all up at the same time. Maybe it was something reflecting on when people bought them instead of me placing them in WW.

I'm not angry at this point, but a little annoyed. The issue for things like this is since the economy is in a constant state of evolution, what was worth 30 - 40 million influence today to the right people, might only be worth 1 - 2 million influence tomorrow; and it keeps chugging along while we wait for our items in limbo. Again, not complaining, per say, but pointing out the dirty facts of the matter. And yes, I'm quite aware the swing could also go the other way.

Regardless, thanks for keeping us posted as opposed to in the dark.
  9. <QR>

So THAT'S why I have 2 to the 1.68 million power free costume tokens!
  10. Varity in the Safe Guard mission is still needed. Just because we're heroes doesn't mean we don't like blowing stuff up too... Just make it evil stuff.
  11. Mr. Mako. Would you go as far as to say that Issue Nine will be the best issue since the release of E.T. for the Atari?
  12. <QR>

Wow. Good luck with your choice Shane.

Cryptic is losing people at an alarming rate...

Star Wars Galaxies allows (or did, haven't played since the major overhaul) far more custom look than the bases of CoX. It was, somewhat, popular to make interesting designs since every object was usable (IE had a 3D model you could place in your house) to build things. There were a few houses that people would go out of their way to visit (zoos come to mind), but mostly people would decorate for passerbys or shoppers (if the house had merchants) to just stop by, enjoy, and move on their way. It was fun just to run around, hopping into houses to see what interesting things they might have done, and then continue on with their adventure.

In CoX, that's 100% impossible. Period. Why spend millions and millions of prestige to build something ~50 are ever going to see? Instead, people make functional bases and leave it at that. My team and I would like to build huge rooms "for play" and each of us have personal rooms, but since there are only four of us, we spend every prestige point on needed items. Heck, we just rolled back our first plot upgrade because rent would have made us completely broke.

Four people, almost nightly play for all since launch, adding all alts in as soon as possible and almost always playing in SG mode yeilds about four million prestige, not counting the money "wasted" on rent (at least it did for us). We finally have enough money to have nice things. In another four million, if we're all still here, maybe we can enjoy seperate rooms... maybe.

We love our base. We want to do more to our base. Make them PvE interactive. Make PvP possible for small groups like us. Make it so we can show off our bases to the general public. PLEASE!!! Don't give up on bases. We enjoy them, a lot. We just want them to be more...
  14. If ANYTHING in the Kinetics set needs looked at, it's Transfusion (first power in the set). A heal that requires a hit AND requires the MOB not to die AND requires the person you're trying to heal to stay in the small radius can get annoying. Plus, the -regen it provides could be a bit longer lasting.

To be honest though, there are plenty of other sets that could be looked at well before Kinetics.

    COP questions

    1) How many people does it take to start the CoP?

    2) Does mission level effect the difficulty?

    3) Does it scale depending on the amount of people in the group?

    4) Do the MOBs drop insps or enhancements at all (since they don't seem to give XP or inf/prestige).

    5) Can you delete the IoP (or the room that stores it)?

    6) What happens if you die and go to the hospital?

    7) Can outside people (people not in your Super Group) join you in the CoP?

Bloops. Well, I stand corrected. I had no idea one system had supplanted the other.

But that still begs the question...anything coming for level 50s in Issue 8 (new contacts/missions)?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, this is highly, HIGHLY disappointing to me. From the current timing of stuff, Issue Eight won't hit live until mid-November. That puts Issue Nine on track to live in April. Ouch. I was REALLY looking forward to level 50s getting something. I mean, yeah, it's still possible of course, but I doubt they're going to have back-to-back issues for one level range. Does this mean... Actually, what does this mean? I'm oh so confused.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    Hey guys, a quick clarification:

The Invention System and the "Legends" System are "one in the same"...

Basically the Legends system, as it was designed, was not implemented, but out of it grew what will be known as the Invention System. The Invention System does what we wanted the Legends System to do, and a whole lot more, and lays the ground work for limitless expandability that the Legend System just didn't have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait. What? How can expanded level 50 gameplay and Hero 'tradeskills' become one and the same? Limitless expandability? Swha?

  18. Woo! My little group just won the lottery! Free prestige!!! Free prestige!!!

    (one month later)

    *flipping through bills*
MY RENT IS HOW MUCH??!? Oh dear god! We'll never be able to cover that! Well, there's only one way out now...

(to see our Super Group base, ride the Yellow Line to Steel Canyon, get off the train and turn right. there's a brown multi-story building there... just wait a few moments and see what we had to do to cover our debt...)
  19. [ QUOTE ]
The Night Widow's Smoke Grenade is exactly the same scale for both Perception (-90%) and To Hit debuff (-0.5) as Smoke Grenade (and Fire Controls 'Smoke' and Trick Arrow's 'Flash Arrow'.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

And the Blasters /Devices smoke generade? Whenever I hit a group of MOBs for that, they just kindly turn around and remind me this is a non-smoking section... oh, and then they kick my butt.

Night Widows are stupidly hard though. And not the nice kind of stupidly hard like Paragon Protectors, they're just plain out too hard (considering they reward the same as the other possible bosses in the same group). They're one of the few MOBs that I'll eat an entire tray of inspirations and still lose.
  20. I didn't make a Cricket avatar, but if I had made an avatar, you could bet there would have been a lot more topless women on motorcycles!
  21. Doing my best Mr. Smith impression...

"What good is a Hamidon enhancement, Mr. Anderson, if it doesn't buff your powers, by 30%?"

In other words, how much does the created Hammy-Os buff AND has anyone been to the universities yet? I totally forgot about them when I was running around. Maybe they have more fun things.

ALSO, the crafted Empowerment stations... Tier Two and Tier Three, do they make different Invention things? How much do they cost (prestige wise) to build? Do they take power? Control?
  22. [ QUOTE ]
If you are say a Ill/FF controller I would be happy as this helps you since most of the time you can't floor the chance to get hit so in general this is a buff. Just in rare always flooring cases is it a nerf.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Illusion/Kinetics, but I run a lot of toggles =)
  23. Ok, I read all of the post here, but since I'm at work, I want to keep the thinking I do as low as possible.

I run a Controller with a lot of Defensive powers. I noticed with the latest non-Issue patch, I was getting it a lot more than normal (PvE). With the Issue Seven patch looming, which of the following should I feel:

    A) Happy. As long as you keep from fighting +6 MOBs, you should notice that you're getting hit a lot less than you are now and even less than you were before the ToHit patch.

    B) Content. No real bonus, but better than before. Pretty much the same as before the ToHit patch.

    C) Upset. Expect to be hit more. It's gonna suck, but considering how many times your character has changed, one more won't kill him.

    D) Beyond Angry. Another nerf for your build. Congrads! You've passed Regen and Super Reflexes as the most nerfed build in the game!!! You can deposit him in the crap bin and start working on the next FOTM.
  24. Apparently, this is the maintenance that doesn't end.
