Like you they are humans, errors occur but dont let those tiny mistakes brand them in anyway negative...I for one think they are doing a good job and should continue with their progress in maintaining and expanding the game..
Kudos to them..
[/ QUOTE ]
No. No kudos to them.
Sure people make mistakes and they're only human, too... however, some of there errors seem to take forever and a day to get corrected (if they get corrected at all), and often they "correct" things in the wrong direction.
And personally, I think they're doing a barely adequate job in continuing to expand the game. Personally, I think it looks to them like the game is winding down in popularity and they are winding down their efforts accordingly... after all, no need to pour all your effort and resources into a sinking ship... especially when there are many ships within swimming distance.
Hell, I expect the population of this game will be (at least) cut in half when the Marvel MMO is released... whether or not its better than COx, gamers will flock to it because its the "new thing" and will have better expectations for its future. Also, being new means it will likely have a higher priority on customer support, kinda like this game did over a year ago. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the problem is most people don't know what its like to be a developer on any project. Like you can just wave your magic code wand and have new ATs and powersets just fall to the floor. If they had any idea what it was really like, then they would have a little sympathy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, I wouldn't... I wouldn't have any sympathy at all.
As Statesman says, the criticism comes with the job. If they can't handle it or don't want it, then they should take their coding skills to a field that doesn't have such high expectations from the customer base. -
[ QUOTE ]
No no no no and NO. We wanted more aggro control, we asked for more aggro control, we got more aggro control. Leave our aggro control alone.
[/ QUOTE ]
S'funny, I never asked for more aggro control... I've always wanted more ability to survive the aggro I draw. Anyhow, poor aggro control should be fixed in the Taunt power itself, not spreading taunt out over all the attacks. And if you want more taunting, there's an extra pool power just for that.
Gauntlet, in my opinion, is the 2nd lamest inherent power in the game (Defiance being the worst since your very squishie hero has to be near death to see any relevant benefit from it). -
[ QUOTE ]
2: While Invincibility was up, I noticed the yellow "crosshairs" +ACC buff indicators swirling around the two minions (but not the LT). I looked very closely, it wasn't the debuff indicator. Around me was just the purple +DEF indicators.
The +Acc buff indicators kept swirling around the two minions for about 12-15 seconds after I turned off Invinc, at which point the Taunt must have expired and they ran away.
I have Invinc slotted with 3 Def and 1 ToHit buff. I removed the ToHit buff and re-ran the experiment, but it didn't make any difference.
Now either the +Acc indicators are just there to tell you that those minions are being hit by Invinc, and they chose an indicator from their existing set of graphics, or else we're actually buffing their accuracy.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Correction:
All aspects of Invincibility EXCEPT the taunt effect are working. The Taunt effect, however, appears to only be effecting minions. This is true for all auto-taunt effects, including Gauntlet.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, what? Invincibility is working properly if its ToHit buffing enemies around you? Alright, maybe its not actually buffing them... but you have to admit that its not functioning properly if its even just causing the ToHit buff graphic to appear on the enemies regardless of whether or not they are getting a buff. -

Interestingly, while researching this problem, I discovered that Gauntlet from pool powers like Boxing or Air Superiority have, apparently, never worked. That'll be fixed as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
No wonder I've always felt the Gauntlet inherent power was worthless. My tanker dips heavily into pool powers for extra attacks (Boxing, Kick, Air Superiority, and Flurry).
Not that I find Gauntlet especially useful with my Super Strength attacks either, mind you. Gauntlet should be pulled and replaced with an ability similar to brutes' Fury power... except, instead of increasing damage as your meter builds, tankers should increase resistances. -
[ QUOTE ]
The storyline for me. I like the feeling that my charecter is part of an epic story.
[/ QUOTE ]
Epic, yeah... and my characters are all bit players in the story of Statesman and his über buddies that will always be better than me and my teammates no matter how much I grind away.
I'm supporting cast, I have no story of my own. -
[ QUOTE ]
Bingo. That pretty much nails our design on bases. We're slowly but surely making additions and changes based on feedback & data. We'll get there...I think bases are a case study where a design didn't mesh well with actual gameplay! For some odd reason, some posters have thought my Serious Games speech blamed the players; heck no! Bases are 100% a DESIGN problem. Not a player problem.
[/ QUOTE ]
So... bases aren't fun, but they made it into the game anyhow. But isn't that the reason why the big skills system never made it into the game, being cut before any players had a chance to see and test it --not fun? -
Are the developers aware of the Sleeves (flaired sleeve alternate glove option) on female characters where the right sleeve seems fine inside the sleeve, but the left sleeve seems to have the skin color pushed down through the inside of the cuff and back to the outside edge of the sleeve?
Its like the left arm is a little shorter than the right arm and the texture doesn't map properly on that side. I don't recall this always being an issue... the last time I remember not seeing that was over a year ago. -

I didn't know where to put this, but I've got a complaint about the new 'Rat' ears. Everyone I've talked to with my mouse STILL thinks she's a cat, and rightly so.
Here and here are screencaps of her on Test.
Here are a bunch of rats and mice, both real and animated:
Real 1
Real 2
Real 3
Real 4
Real 5
Animated 1
Animated 2
Animated 3
Animated 4
Animated 5
See the difference? I love the rest of what you're doing, but please, for us mouse and rat lovers, FIX THE EARS! Thank you.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think you just have a thing for Gadget...
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't... but I have to agree... the new rat ears in I8 look distinctly wrong at the top. The points are not mouse-like at all.
Think round... think Mickey or Jerry Mouse.
The points have got to go. -

Have you seen Boobah?
[/ QUOTE ]
Seen it, played with everything it had to offer, and am now planning to get drunk so I can enjoy it all again. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was tempted to make a Kekko Kamen joke, but I figured it would be a little too obscure.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obscure... but I got it. -
[ QUOTE ]
I want to stess this:
We are NOT working on a Greek mythology game. Or an ancient history game. Just want to kill that rumour!
[/ QUOTE ]
How come? Don't you just yearn to nerf history itself??
C'mon.... you know you do! -
[ QUOTE ]
For those who complain that the Archetypes who have the fewest sets were overlooked... the next planned powersets are melee based.
[/ QUOTE ]
Too bad I won't be playing long enough to see them.
Thanks for nothing. -
[ QUOTE ]
Now, I'll wax philosophic for a moment. Before I left, I posted a couple of things that a few posters thought were "flippant" or "snarky."
[/ QUOTE ]
A FEW??
Is that a snarky response itself? Or did you only read a few of our complaints that addressed your commentary as flippant, snide, or downright rude?
[ QUOTE ]
I certainly didn't intend either...but here's the reality. I do NOT pass my posts through PR, community relations or anyone. I post, well, exactly as I think. So sometimes I won't sound polished like a snake oil salesman. Sometimes, I'll sound just like any other gamer out there. I could have someone edit everything I post - but that would inevitably delay responses and cut back on communication. I think, though I could be wrong, that the majority of you would prefer my honest thoughts, rather than sales talk. It's probably pretty different than the game developer norm, but it's what feels right for me to say. I'm not going to always write the best responses, but you'll at least have truthful ones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ya know what, Jack? We do want honesty... but we also want respect. Not phoney, disingenuous answers from a PR person... we want to be addressed honestly, but we don't want to be talked down to from the high and mighty Statesman. THAT is what people were complaining about, not your honesty. -

I keep the T sound at the beginning, like in the Japanese ABCs...
ta chi tsu te to
like the tsu in tsubasa or tsuki.
Yeesh my explainerisms are nots working today too well.
Oh I got it... it's the same tsu as in "Tsunami", which is a Japanese word that most people know. 8)
edit - man this is hard to explain, it's not a soo-nami!
Upsen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry, I understand what you mean.
And I'd like to add, this isn't French, where one out of four letters isn't pronounced (stupid french). So it's T-sue.
All you people saying it's pronounced "sue" should be ashamed of yourselves.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've always called them Sue.
...and I will continue to make fun of their girly name and powers. -
I've been using Rage since about a week since issue 3 came out... I've got no problem with the penalty as far as solo playing goes.
So far, my team experience is not so good but better than expected. Generally, I've got either a secondary tanker to back me up for the duration I lose aggro, or I'm teamed (regularly) with an illusion controller with phantasms and decoys in abundance. In fact, I find it rough keeping aggro with those things around even without using Rage!
Situationally, though, I know that I won't always be able to count on having a secondary tanker or pets to back me up through Rage's downtime.
I guess I just won't use it when teamed up in other team scenarios... which sucks, because that makes Rage a power that discourages teaming. -

I'm guessing that Accuracy will be nerfed.

What?? AGAIN?! -

Enhanced fear effects are all well and good... but I think you guys need to kick it up a notch. I wanna' see puddles. Villains wetting themselves. Crying twin waterfalls and confessing their deepest, most embarassing secrets.

Hellion Bobby: Shut up, Dave! *stains his pants*

And when they run, they should run like scared little schoolgirls, just like the civilians do. And when they stop, 50% of them should, instead of cowering, scream and point at the ST like freddy kruger just showed up.
I don't even care if spectral terror works. Just make it cause freak tanks to run while waving their hands in the air for three seconds, and I'll be happy.
Oh, and can the spectral terror look like Martha Stewart? Just wondering.
[/ QUOTE ]
All very good and valid ideas. I'm all for these ideas to "fix" ST! -
Has anyone noticed (because I am feverish and too tired right now to go reading through the whole thread) that to remove someone from your global friends list, you must type "/gunfriend"?
Ya know, I've wanted to hit a few friends in the heat of anger once or twice in the past... and definitely ignore a friend for a while for something or other...
...but I've never really wanted to gun friend even once. And if I did consider it, I was drunk and claim no current knowledge of it. -
Yeah, even though he knows about the memo now, why don't you just go ahead and have that memo sent to him again. Yeah...
Oh, and by the way, we'll be needing Infernal to work this weekend, too... so if he could just go ahead and show up... that'd be great. Thanks. -
For the record, I soloed it with a level 21 defender when I2 first came out.
I also soloed it after I3 was released with my illusion controller.
Nyah-nyah! -
[ QUOTE ]
I, for one, like the story of the game, and appreciate that they went to the trouble of adding a backstory to why we wait until level 20 for the capes, rather than saying "No in-game reason, we just want you to work for it."
If you don't like story content, there are a number of games out there for you.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't say that I didn't like ALL the story content, just the crappy story content for explaining why we have to wait until level 20 for a cape... if this carrot on a stick had been at level 10 and something else was at level 20 (auras would be niec), maybe I wouldn't mind so much...
But no, I'm not going to quit the game just for this. I'll just stick to hating Statesman's face and badmouthing Hero1 until he returns from where ever and slaps me upside the head for it.
Hero1 is a wussy!
Edit: My bad... Hero1 WAS a wussy! -
Consequences nothing... they don't exist because the option to ignore the rules doesn't exist. It is, as pointed out, a carrot on a stick to get people to level 20.
That's really what I object to; and the background story explaining the wait is turd icing on the B.S. cake. -
[ QUOTE ]
Heroes don't wear capes until at least level 20 as a memorial to Hero1, the leader of the group that bravely entered the Rikti Portals in an attempt to stop the invasion from the other side.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, except we aren't given an option to honor this tradition or not. If you have a security level under 20, the snobs at the Icon store won't sell you a cape... and I can't even tie a bath towel or a bed sheet around my neck to fake it in the mean time. Memorial to Hero1? Bah! I know plenty of heroes who've entered the portals and come back... Hero1 isn't so special. In fact, he's less than special and I WANT to disregard his memory by wearing a cape at level 1.
[ QUOTE ]
Once the war was over (debateable if you've ever seen FF or RCS zones,) Statesman declared all heroes, including himself, would remove their capes to honor the ultimate sacrifice made by so many compatriots. The moratorium ended just before the Shadow Shard was discovered, and now, once a hero has shown a certain level of respect and historical knowledge of his forebears, he is allowed to once again don a cape.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah... there it is right there... "allowed" to don a cape. I'm sorry, but some of my heroes are more anti-heroes than super-cheesy good guys. And unless Statesman shows up himself to personally punch my guy's lights out, I say who the [censored] is Statesman to dictate honoring lost heroes and other super hero behavior?? I didn't vote him in as chairman of all super hero activity, and I refuse to acknowledge him in game as anything more than an influential figurehead that never really does anything... aside dictate that a level 14 scrapper who got defeated a few times by Dr. Vahzilok before finally triumphing that, you're just not worthy to wear the cape yet.
[ QUOTE ]
As for the city licensing capes, that's exactly what they do. Every hero, upon entering the city, whether of Magic origin, Technology, or any other, registers himself and his known powers. Part of the agreement the hero makes is that he won't don a cape until the city planner acknowledges he is ready for it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I didn't agree to that. I'm a vigilante and fight crime my way, city's blessing or not. What are they gonna do? Ask Statesman to lecture me about the right way to fight crime? Screw the city... I hope the mayor and Statesman both get abducted by Rikti and have their brains sucked out.
Oh wait... then we might never be allowed to wear helmets, and everyone will be asked not to run for the office of mayor in honor of their loss.
Its a B.S. way of explaining "you cannot have a cape until you are this tall (insert image of clown picture holding hand up 48 inches from ground)."
Hey, you know what? Hero1 wore a costume to... maybe we should all be restricted to wearing a generic hero uniform until we prove ourselves worthy to be individuals, too! How so? Oh, I dunno... reach level 10, read some more basic history (yawn), talk to contacts way out in the far end of hard to get to sections of town, and beat down some street thugs intent on defacing a memorial to Hero1 at a local museum.
"Congrats, newly unique hero! You have my blessing to go design your own original costume," says the pompous Statesman!
