  1. Photon seekers awesome damage. It my second pbaoe nuke when swamped.
  2. I don't think that is a build I would want to play. Overslotted Hover and Thunderclap. Underslotted the attacks you've mentioned. Tornado is a great source of damage particularly good on AVs. 6 procs could go in Freezing Rain I believe. If the build is pushed, its end heavy and dark consumption wouldnt come quick enough. Thats my thoughts without Mids to look at as I am at work. So with Mids I would, if I were you, turn them percentage bonuses that look good into real terms. Give yourself a power chain, what would you do in a 20sec fight duration, 5 sec recovery, 20 sec fight duration etc baring in mind how often powers are up. You might only use a power every 3 groups. Also set yourself up for AV fights, there is no kin, there is no other support but you to rely on. How would you hold out. Def debuffing is not that important considering most peoples builds.

When I roll a tanker, I expect to tank asap as in go out, make a team and accrue mobs for that team. I am controlling aggro whilst everybody else is beating the snot out of them. Collective AoEs save on endurance and in the earlier levels pre inherent fitness making sure people get to use AoEs made the need for fitness a bit non existent. I could of leveled slow but thats not what happened. Was I fit to solo? No, major incentive to make an 8 man team and suck it and see. Edit: Good memories of the early levels for sure.
  4. I think that the best first tank for anyone to start with is probably Ice, it's level of aggro control makes it blatantly obvious for anyone to get Tanks and can be one seriously survivable character. Also when it comes to being slowed down, really not a problem as Ice resists slows. Willpowers wetness is in that once something has left the aura its pretty much going to be looking for anyone. Other sets can pass through and have chasers that are being attacked on the chase or simply do better at recoveries. I've had mine for years and still no first debt badge XD but then I don't play with dumb and dumber.

    Tough hide..?

The upside of LBE appears to be slightly better DPA (almost nothing much more) but what should in theory be an additional source of -res although I recently read somewhere it might not stack (never having a -res proc in a tank I can neither confirm nor deny).

But the upside of Hurl is the -fly which is good for grounded sets who need the fliers down so that perhaps the whole team can properly get rid of them quicker also in theory should be a greater means to stack threat at a distance with taunt for off of the top of my head it does more damage per activation. Also does greater dam per end and allows for more end recovery over its animation so is more cost effective.

At work still so this maybe otomh baloney that I can not confirm by being Mids-less

    Ice/Ice Tanking

I tanked a +2 Frostfire for an 8 man pug group with my Ice/Ice at lvl 6 herding like a level 50. There is not alot I could of done with armours at that point but I sure did like the hoarfrost as a omg hope is here button. The +hp given is potentially helpful to those supporting you as it can give them more time to react. Either way some people dont tank off the bat, for large teams and some do and we could all swear by some sauce. As mentioned before I rather do very little in respecing, like Largo says have the slots there for later. All my tankers will exemp to any level and cope with the content before them so slotting Hoarfrost early is how I'd be doing it.

This would be my power order, one thing is wet ice at level 6 is a good idea for Frostfire.

Perhaps I didn't turn on accolades or incarnates the first time around. I can understand the -res, infact I was quite impressed with the build and the use of LBE but I save the debuffs and the dps leading to other ATs and go for tanking ability from tools where possible. However I will agree now seeing an Incarnate build which is recent, that LBE comes home alot better than ever before.

I got home and looked at it. My advice is to swap LBE out for Hurl and add another Apoc. You're a grounded character and its best to look awesome and knock fliers down in order for the team to boof them up. I wouldn't want say, Siege to be 27ft above me with me with only LBE for an attack chain or have to hop alot.

Stones designed to sit there and take it because there is not alot else it can do whereas other Tankers can make decisions like run Like remove certain attacks from an AVs choice, AV's can be compelled to hit you, but can only hit you with certain attacks if any depending on you and the AV. Brains over braun type of thing, although only a small amount of brains.
  10. For the life of me I can't bring myself to spend alot on my TA's, it's a case of looking at what I am actually getting for the percentage bonuses and saying to myself "I can live without it". It's not like with say Empathy where the difference between fortituding 5 people and 3 people is perfectly noticeable. However the incarnate stuff is on the list of to do's with mine so I would suggest that as the primary focus for you. So in short a cheap build could suffice.

    Ice/Ice Tanking

Hoarfrost is something I take before frozen armour as it is schedule a enhancements and its good to get slotting early, you may argue on what to put in it but the slots are there by the time something decent should go in. The armours tend not to be boosted by much with schedule b's and so the extra amount of def granted by DOs is pretty small. I would of had Hoarfrost, Frozen Armour, Chilling Embrace, Wet Ice, Haste all before 10. Combat jump is better than haste at that level but I like to save on respecs.

    Tough hide..?

The pros to LBE that people put forward makes me wonder. What non concept build on any Tanker has an extremely essential Laser Beam Eyes? I think maybe once I might of seen a build where it was ever so tight to achieve its goal where I thought to myself well that could be the one and only time. Hurl on the other hand is something I've always liked as it does -fly and when I was a grounded tanker (footstomp is grounded anyway) found it had great utility. I may fly now but its still great to stack with taunt to make sure aoe damage can be directed away from the squishie gank and spankers surrounding a tough AV if needed or saves me the bother of air lifting.
  14. New Dawn

    Tough hide..?

Lionsbane you are not soft capped. Laser Beam Eyes is not something I'd recommend to anyone who isn't making a Superman concept. Handclap is alright if you know how to use it and when to use it. I'd of been tempted to get it when I respec my Invuln to have inherent fitness just to mess things up for people who seem to prefer mobs spread all over the shop because they annoy me. A tankers place is in the thick groups. If you are beating a single npc up whilst there are several mobs close by beating on a controller or not in the ambushes first you are doing something wrong. Support characters support best when they aren't having to put their own survivability first so handclap would be redundant most of the time anyway. I would get tough hide.
  15. Does the drone ultimately do enough dpe including defiance buffing to warrant the cast time and endurance cost? If not can the drone be used to take mezzes and damage for you? Effectively doubling up as a shield.

I thought the last buff to the drone (allowing it to move with you) was more than enough to balance the set.

If you were to make Kheldian only enhancements you could make 4 KO slots do what 6 IOs do and so you won't need extra slots and so wouldnt give a **** about it.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, saving respecs would be it. The long term benefits of having banked respecs have been proved, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your build; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your build until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 months you'll look back at screencaps of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how powerful you really were.

You are not as gimp as you imagine.

Don't worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to prevent nerfs by PMing Geko. The real nerfs in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you next Issue and were omitted in the patch notes.

Fight one thing every day that scares you.

    /em sing

Dont be reckless on other people's teams, don't put up with people who are reckless on yours. Kick their stupid [censored].

    Follow Up.

Don't waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind, unless you're super reflexes, in which case you're screwed.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults on broadcast; kill everyone and let God sort them out.

Keep fighting no matter what, throw caution to the wind. If you want to play it safe, roll a FF defender.

    Stamina.

Don't feel embarassed if you don't know what to do with your build when you're 50...the most interesting people I know didn't know at 28 whether to take Cloak of Fear or not, some of the most interesting 40's I know still don't.

Get plenty of HOs. Screw ED.

Savor your temp powers, you'll miss them when they're gone.

Maybe you'll level to 50, maybe you won't, maybe you'll have dozens of scrapper alts, maybe you won't, maybe you'll switch to blasters, maybe you'll /em the funky chicken after receiving Task Force Commander...what ever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either - but at least you didn't go to WoW.

Enjoy your scrapper, use it every way you can...don't be afraid of it, or what other people think of it, its the greatest character you'll ever play.

/em dance....but don't go afk inside the mission door when you do, [censored].

Read the manual, even if you can't with a straight face.

Do NOT read build guides, they will only make you feel stupid. And most date back to I3: if you follow them, you'll *really* feel stupid.

Get to know your tier 9 power, you'll never know when it'll be gone for good. Be careful about relying on power pools; they've been nerfed in the past and are likely to be nerfed in the future.

Understand that globalfriends come and go, but for the precious few that never log off ever and require therapy. Work hard to bridge the gaps in supergroups and timezones because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young to complain about the noobs to.

Join a PL group once, but leave before it makes you lazy; join an RP group once, but leave before it makes you crazy.

    Travel power.

Accept certain inalienable truths, damage mitigation won't rise, the devs won't balance the secondaries, you too will get old, and when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young damage mitigation was higher, the devs used to listen, and newbs weren't noobs. You'd probably be right on the damage mitigation part: everyone else has been so far.

    Don't respec unnecessarily.

Don't expect anyone else to PL you. Maybe you have a hundred alts, maybe you have played every mission; but its still pointless.

Don't mess too much with your costume, or by the time you're 40, it won't be the only thing with too much yellow and red.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing previous issues from the disposal, wiping them off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it was worth. Look at MoG.

But trust me on the respecs.
I loved that. I remember when Scrappers were scoffed at. Certain plates were stepped upto by people of other ATs but just not the Scrappers. It wasn't the AT that needed changing, the mindset behind the Scrapper did.
  18. You scrappers sure do with Mids like to spend sumptuous amounts on a build. Most people only need to have a build that suffices to have fun saving expensive damage IOs for alts that would do even more damage with them.
  19. Kheldian only enhancements which make up for the fact that we only have so many slots so that we can make them do everything they could really well. Or would that lead to a big buff?
  20. Yeah ya just know someone with their Ill/Rad would drop 3 of them, in half the time

    WP/Kin critique

I rejigged it because I wouldn't rely on the tohit debuff as it can be resisted. I think Mind Over Body needs to be alot lot earlier in the build rather than be left to 30 but having been up since yesterday morning 36hours + I too tired to rejig it alot.

  22. I got 2 /nrg blasters and both do force mastery. Won't do that on every blaster as it just so conceptually right to do with /nrg. Ton of fun.
  23. I have 36 slots on Defiant filled, then I have about 35 slots on Union filled and then I have 14 slots on Vigilance.
Zukunft was good but too few people playing regularly.

Thats roughly 85 characters, almost all of them caped. I think only 8 below 20 but all above 10 except one Mecca Lours. I probably have a character from most places.

Thats just one account out of four that I have bought during my time (2 have been dropped forever but the other one still going has possibly 16 characters on it. I don't do farms, I don't do PL or exploit the exploitable to get levels I just play.

When we server merge I might port them about so that I can play my Canadian characters with Canadians and my American characters (incl American Indian) with Americans and so on. One of my Night Widows is a Australian Aborigine so I'll put her where they are. Costly I think so but I do like to meet people from all over.

I never let a character go unplayed for more than 40 days normally, which is something I guess and have the interface set up so that like for like powers are always in the same place (its a pbaoe, tray 3 slot 3 and so on).

If I see a new obvious concept, I'll create a new character. If not then I am not going to make anymore. I must work 70+ hours a week so time is never really there.

Edit:At work right now doing a design for a company in Detroit, its going to be a 24 hour shift.
  24. You dont have to be /Devices to escape the blapper side of things. I went DP/NRG and only took the powers that enhance the primary. Other secondaries do offer control too so there are always powers that compliment without forcing anyone into blapping. I have nothing against /Devices. I've had one even with "Time Bomb" for literally 6 years called New Dawn. Gorgeous build.
