Oh so that's what it was! I did ask but she didn't say.

I am not surprised at the ban but would suggest that its probably a joke (satirical?) made more at the idiocy of past comic publishers that did not of come out as intended.

    Stone/Stone !

Your problems may not be down to you. Some people seem to think that because you share the same room as the enemies they must be taunted It'll be better if someone watched you in game as it could be a whole mix of things.

I have macros that come out 1 - 3 times on a mish depending on the team to let them know my intentions, its for them and me, but they can go unheeded, so I may lie and give a false statement to delay them, then they wonder why I lied, well its cos the truth ain't good enough to be heeded and a lie works so much more.

Gaining aggro control and the moving of numbers is "tending to numbers positionally" which counts as herding to me.
  3. There are certain attacks enemies have been known to find themselves happy spamming once you find a certain range. Romulus doesn't fly. That's one answer for a kiting method out the way. You fly he won't. If you're kiting with taunt then its better if other players don't assume too much threat depending on your threat over range. If the "sweet spot" as it's called is compromised by someone using a power that will cause the AV to move then depending on how tight that sweet spot is, you may find all hell breaking loose. Similar words of "don't do X" to people or "wait for me to say ready" (as a headcount to an AV may spawn certain attacks at a bad time in the wrong direction) spring to my mind talking about this.

If your gonna keep AVs like Chimera ranged and do damage then its easy to confront/blast and fly or once you've forced his bow he may decide to keep it, if he switches, force his bow again. My SR is claws so Focus and Shockwave ahoy! Same with Infernal. No need for defenders or controllers. Black Scorpion again don't fly but as with most any AV there is a sweet spot. I think most people know where his sweetest of sweet spots is but you as a scrapper would have to forget doing damage to him and perhaps settle for spamming a well slotted confront.

Sometimes assuming an elevated position on a rock with some enemies causes them to go stop in their tracks and spam some 8 sec rechg power at you.

Amazing how many play that way as well

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Amazing but true.
  5. Look at what your powers do and look at what can stack because offering more than what you can already do is better than offering a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

Here is the type of stuff you could add to become "flexible enough for most teams to not really need another controller or defender in the vicinity."

haste = more of what you got over time.

Flash Arrow + Manuevers can = 15% circa def which when you lower damage and dps through -rechg is not too bad at all and especially good for people of some sets. My SR running basic slots and toggles would be elusive.

Acid Arrow + Disruption Arrow + Assault = -Res and + Dam = what fight duration? Couple this with your own Oil Slick Arrow on top of what the team can do and its an enormous amount of carnage.

Acid Arrow + Oil Slick Arrow + Tactics "Wait" Acid Arrow and OSA together would have you at -50% def but they don't come together as regular as one would hope, but Tactics is always good for your own accuracy and perception as well as other peoples.

Vengeance = When the bleep hits the fan you could EMP arrow everything but I am sure the rest of the team and your endurance bar would appreciate this more.

    Medicine Pool.

Stimulant okay for other defenders or controllers doing the Tank maging, you could be but sometimes its better or easier if they are "sometimes".

Aid Other - what if there is no one else that can defend or control except you? Topping up of healthpoints in between fights can result in less downtime (waiting for someone else to be confidently ready).

Aid Self - This was purely because of the size of my AoEs and the lack of aggro control other people are supposed to offer. This means that I have had at times no one to help me after the debuffs went in.

Resuscitate - Again downtime, people could use awakens or you could have them made but it only takes an endurance slot or 2, yes even TAs don't find the need to slot for rechg

Later Conserve Power, either you've over spammed a power beyond its necessary use or done so after EMP or some of the slotting requires more end redux - with stamina.

Power Boost - I got this for my Vengeance, Aid Other and Controls.

    Other powers like -

Stealth will allow you to get around the fact you can't add range to flash arrow slightly.

What I've not had a problem of playing without are:

Combat Jump - you resist Immobs and you have a small bonus to def.

Acrobatics - You resist holds and kb (Your supposed to be ranged and you do control so this can be v unnecessary)

Fight pool, TP and Presence - each to their own quirks I say.

    AV Soloing

If you wanna do such a thing with your DM/DA then your gonna have to turn it into something more def based. More def would mean less need to self heal, less need of rechg bonuses for self heal and so many other things saving endurance and keeping dps up cos you just don't get hit.

If you look over to the US forums apparently a DM/Shield tanks been doing it, and if you look at his build I think DSorrow would agree that some slots may as well have been thrown away.
  7. New Dawn

    telekinesis

Some see it as push some mobs you're trying to defeat into more mobs despite everyones endurance bar thinking "we could do with some recovery time here". It is a power for holding enemies back in dead ends or corners, to me, so situational. Or if like with Gale/Repel you have to protect yourself from melee then use it. I've had to ss with mine to timely deter the traffic away from compromising situations.
  8. New Dawn

    AV Soloing

I remember somewhere in a guide I think, Jack Emmert practically saying about Scrappers being the best thing for taking on AVs, I must of been one of the few who agreed. Given what consummates the soloing of an AV I wouldn't put anything passed any type of scrapper with someone good behind it dead set on a intention. It's actually a very good way to measure one but some should be more suitable for certain sides of the game than others ie more efficient at taking out a 8 man spawn on invincible due to being in part an AoE machine, stuff like that.
  9. Aett Thorn was the one who was "you don't need taunt to tank" which is right but without it, without certain team make ups, vs certain enemies, and more often at times vs higher lvl AVs you could get ya tank spanked. I dare say he may of thought he knew more than he did. When I think Castle said something like "Taunt adds flexibility". For someone who can't tell people ways to play to get by some of the challenges in the game there couldn't of been a better thing to say. Having said that though most all powers add flexibility.
  10. I don't have this combination, which means producing a build with slotting ideas doesn't show what any of my character plans look like.

I took TRTs and gave it some 10mins adapting. If I've put too many bonuses that are the same pls say, I did look. But this looks fine to me. Plenty of rechg bonuses, plenty of +heal bonuses and +hp as a means for +heal as well as +end and +end rec. TRTs build was a good build for me to put my own twist on.

  11. The only time I'd see my Ill/Storm in melee is to affect enemies with -tohit +repel in a dead end or effect AVs with -range. Sands of Mu may get a look in but there is not much reason to be there.

Have to say i feel both my shield chars feel stronger than my willpower chars.
Specially during the ITF against the romans, BS/SD and Elec/SD have no trouble at all, while my willpower chars can ger overwhelmed by em.
Sure the shield chars die, a couple unlucky hits tend to do that, but i still feel they're much tougher.

There are more enemies than Romans.

    First AVs soloed

Well I've already measured her as doable as an AV playing by the Devs idea of solo but not on the inside map. The inside map is much more difficult. Having to use RotP don't count as being defeated, its a rebirth into a moment of glory. When you can't keep on fighting, then you're defeated.
  14. The force in SR is pretty strong for me. So not gonna have issues with Shields but have to say my Willpower stands out. My Broadsword Regen maybe my weakest as it requires clicking asap but with attacks that are of long cast times its not always easy and makes Parry something of a crutch.

GW on the other hand... Huge self heal combined with her mag 100 hold alone make her a lot more complicated than most other AVs. I think she also has a detention field kind of power which might take out a healer, tank or DPS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's called Black Hole. Which is why Tanks should sport taunt durations and stay away from others as its an AoE or sport taunt durations and simply out range it. If you out range that you out range soul storm as well. Range in taunt is therefore useful.

Going by what the Devs call soloing I believe her to be soloable with a Firetank
  16. Best advice I can give is "read what every slot decision will grant you". Nobody slots combat jump for endurance and the level of defense boosted by slotting it is negligible.

There's plenty of silly costume pieces, most notably the boxing outfit. It, to me, is not an adequate reason for it not to be given to men. Note, I'm not having a go at any players here, just wondering what reason the devs have for restricting it like this. And yeah, I am aware they make plenty of arbitrary decisions and they need not stick to logic if they don't want to.

A Dark Meleer with Boxing Gloves, Hasten, chaining Brawl, Shadow Punch, Smite, Boxing and occasionally Shadow Maul is awesome though.

    Power Choices

When I play my empath, although I am watching the healthbars more (the blasts are much more secondary) and she is much more dedicated to doing heals, I'd rather not have to heal.

People can go about things one way and have aggro spread; or another way and have aggro confined to an area; effecting less people in the team; who either have the survivability to need help now and again; or they can be buffed to simply need a heal "now and again".

If someone is loving me on my empath for my ability to heal asap (as is the case cos its how I end up with "new global friends" 50% of the time) it'll be highly likely I think the team dynamics is a mess.

On my Fire Thermal, the shields are resistance based and I do expect to and do heal asap, she is also expectant of teaming, never pugs in this case and never solo. With the self res its not a conceptual must have and people can always play better than they do or do something that's not so beyond them.

In doing a Earth Thermal with the main expectation to solo, I first thought heal self and nothing but controls, stone mastery and powers that help self but in looking at the animated stone I happened to think it best to get powers that can effect others for later when I get the stone.

But all in all, the controls of the primaries are starting to look v unimportant in comparison to the other stuff I could get. Like I said at the start many of the powers cause offense to some people, simply cos of when they can be used and whose powers it'll negate in the team, the time it takes to do them can effect the reaction time to heal others. Some people are much happier if you would just spam the heals on them.

With having to work I am not getting a whole lot of time to post and so that's why I am appealing for input but as a quick note of what I see atm:

Ring of Fire ST Immob, great for kiting mechanics + Breaking LoS for cover. Negates survivability in terms of KB but the damage it does is -fight duration.

Char, best ST hold in the game. A must have really. (Although I think atleast 1 immob is a must have, I didn't choose it in this case as I would seriously doubt seeing kiting given a thought in this team.)

Fire Cages, Similar Ring of Fire but for more numbers. Should everything be fire caged and your in need of a heal, you can take cover and wait to get it. It'll simply be not as damaging on a single target after slots at the end of the day. Used when mobs need to be moved/tightened can lower the survivability of the whole team. Negates survivability in terms of KB but the damage it does is -fight duration to group.

Smoke, mainly good to blind the enemy, the fight duration can be smaller on a tanker going in by secs as they're seen not so early and depending on what else the -tohit stacks with not so bad for additional survivability.

Hotfeet, if its safe. Its like caltrops. The two types of tankers its practically okay to use it near are stone or ice. The players of the other types could have cause to complain.

Flashfire, nice disorient, can stack with other peoples disorient, will cause wander which can be bad for some types but if you have the aoe immob or hotfeet its not so bad.

Cinders PBAoE hold will make it safe to use hotfeet whilst its working, and if your stealthed a good opener after smoke.

Bonfire an alpha them power or if you want to negate the kb great after using cages.

Fire Imps, ST melee chimps who need to be kept back from aggroing extra groups and might get annoyed at you when you make them chase stuff.

Thanks for input so far. I thought about this build dumping concept and being about helping others so all powers are to do with helping others and "being able to" help others. Apart from disorient opener, hold key target, and buffing or debuffing, I'd be practically a dedicated Healer.

How good are the powers I left out really? What would you use them for with Thermal? Anything not mentioned about powers that are also mentioned would be nice.
