  1. Oh boy...

Messages from Yosef asking me to keep in touch with him after he left the game.

Lots of PMs about the "PvP Behind the Mask" series, Ajax was pretty notable as he has a TON of info and many smilies whne people were calling him granddad.

Think I have a message from AngelsFist or someone about HVND vs. random Championites for fun, we got rolled 200 to 1 or something in Troll Caves, none of us knew what the hell was going on and the qqing in the Champion boards was epic.

PM from Sabin asking if I was interested in learning how to Emp in Arena...what a journey that became.

    Good times, good times.

    This.

Realizing planning a round-robin is a bit of a pain and thanking you in the process.
  3. Thank you very very much Ghost Falcon.
Pleasure having this Dev team around at bug-crunching time.
  4. Why is PK always right

I kinda like split servers though, each has its own personality.
  5. Bronx IS the most interesting man in the world.
  6. Neuronia

    The 50/50 Split.

    No.

You need to be within 3 levels to get the drops, and they drop at the defeated player's level. Those level 1 Gladiator's Armor would look neat though...
  7. I solved the Purple Problem (if there is one) by farming PvP IOs with my friend. We get 100-200 million per day from our drops, pool our Infamy and just kit out our builds in Uncommon/Rare and an occasional Purple set.

While we are sitting on a variety of Armageddon, Apocalypse and Ragnarok inbase, we're only grabbing other pieces sparingly.

I will say one thing though, that Architect Tickets have reduced my whining considerably. Being able to produce any number of Pool A/C (not usually rolling for Pool B) only to sell them for millions...fantastic stuff.

Would I mind Purples crashing in price due to increased supply? Sure, why not. As it is though, I don't see a game-motivated reason or dev-motivated reason in doing so.

This seems interesting. To have to do it carefully and not just brute force my way through... I may want to participate in this when another run is created. I'll be sure to investigate the TF fully by then.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    We have a failsafe strategy:

We use one of those plane catapults on the ship where Statesman is, strap in the Blaster and lauuuuuuuuuunch into first mission and go from there.

Seriously, there's a step by step process and it usually goes quite smoothly.

I can bring my illusion rad if there is still room.

    Sure, you're in.

Talon, I guess I was slow that day and didn't catch that. I'll definitely add you to next week's run.

Oh and PLEASE leave DR on...with DR *off* you have squishies with massive Res + their shield AND you have increasingly high ToHit attribute values through Fort, Forge and hey...Force Bolt/Blind spikes anyone?

    [/ QUOTE ]

But but whats wrong with my troller holding you forever and ever?

Got an issue with an ill/rad beating a scrapper?!?
    Hawk

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nope, it's fair, especially with the toggle-dropping on offensives et al. My only concern is for team and AT diversity. DR On allows more archetypes and teams to be fielded, while DR Off limits them.

3 skilled players can get it done in under 1 hour and 35 minutes...

    This.
64 Merits in under 2 hours.
Bring a Stealth/Recaller and some damage dealers.
    Do it with 3 people.
I was farming it recently but started burning out on it.

    Troy Hickman?

Hey Troy, where can I get a good pizza?
  13. Agreed Buck. Not much more to add except to thank you guys for putting it all together and to thank everyone else for joining.
  14. Master of Statesman runs are resuming June 26.

    Independence Port, 9:30 p.m. Eastern.
This will be a States Tf with ZERO defeats and ZERO temp powers used, so some caution will be required.

If you have any alts that wish the Master badge, let know and we'll try to get you in on one of the runs, with priority going to sign-ups on the forums:

    June 26 sign-ups

    @Shotty Mario - Lost Woodsman Stone/Axe Tanker
    @Stray Kitten - Fire/EM Blaster
    @Neuronia - Shrouded Kara Illusion/Emp COntroller
    @Tfury/@T.Fury - Rad or Kin
    @Dread Shinobi - Fire/Rad
@ResplendentMs - Cold or Rad Defender
    @PurpleLynx - Amatiste MA/REgen Scrapper

Room for one..would like a Blaster please or a Scrapper or another X/Rad

    See you Friday everyone.

  15. [ QUOTE ]

If anyone can honestly explain to me how not changing the rules in their favor is unfair for everyone please let me know.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The thing is, rules always favour a particular person/powerset/whichever. No TS makes SS/SJ a fine choice, Heal Decay on means people will shy away from "Heal" classes.

There's also the case that, say Heal Decay is OFF, people still need to, you know, micromanage their buffs/evasion/heals while three people are trying to kill them.

This kinda reminds me of when Confuse was bugged back in the day. There was a moratorium on using Confuse powers in duels/2 vs. 2 but someone had Arctic Fog (think that has a % to Confuse) and they got warned/etc even though it wasn't per se a COnfuse power.

With no repeating ATs, would you bring Emp/X/Ill/Emp + Therm + damage dealer, or would you simply bring two damage dealers or perhaps 3 to overclock damage on selected targets?

Archetypes will rise and lower in favour. Who knows if people don't bring Dominators when the changes go live, given their increased damage?

It's fair. The new rules have eliminated a lot of 'must haves' either way. Not many Sonics/Emps/Kins running around. As a game evolves and powers become adjusted/tweaked, some stuff will just be bad.

Pretty much the only things that shouldn't be allowed are buggy powers etc. PvP Leagues/Ladders have tended to be adaptive in the past though. In our case, it's better to just go with one set of rules and have everyone be on the same page as we enter League play.

If, as the league progresses, players are really unhappy with certain aspects they can bring it up with JK, Ninja or Buck. As is though, I'm looking forward to the League start to see what people bring and what the matchups will be.

I disagree with turning off heal decay it gives healing classes a clear advantage. If heal decay is able to be off I want DR off.

Otherwise set back the start date by a month or so so I can prep another toon to take advantage of this

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't advantage classes with HEals/Aura heals so much as not cripple them by leaving them open for 7.5 seconds after each heal event. Also, this isn't a 'srs bsns' league from what I see. While we all want to win, there's a variety of skill levels and builds present, so just load in and enjoy.

Even WITH Heal Decay turned off, you can STILL spike your given target from 1,600 HP to 0 in no time flat (assuming coordination, Build Up/Reds etc...). You see an Emp/Therm on the team, spike them or harass them. If they're on the run they can't buff/heal their teammates...

Oh and PLEASE leave DR on...with DR *off* you have squishies with massive Res + their shield AND you have increasingly high ToHit attribute values through Fort, Forge and hey...Force Bolt/Blind spikes anyone? That'll be fun for newish members:

Forcebolt you, character takes a liedown, Blaster/Stalker follow up with a spike while in the 'liedown' animation, rinse and repeat. Going to need upwards of 50 points of KB Res for that.

I see the toggles remain as is, so be it!
    GL this weekend everyone.

  18. Fair is fair.

I thought Butterfly Effect was well-written and fun.
I had a belly laugh during the Discout Task Force's first mission...five-starred it right away and told the author as well.

Some of the others had engaging stories but the mobs were very annoying :/.

I can't fault any of the Dev's Choices. Clearly we differ in what we enjoyed. I've found some fantastic arcs out there (I still recall one about preventing the Trojan War, just incredible) that may never get DC status with the overabundance of 4 stars out there.

Myself, I'm just using it to pen small stories about the game world. People seem to like them *shrug* and in the end that's great. My friends build farm missions where they pile up mobs and generate mad exp and inf and that's fine too, it won't get them Dev's Choice but it's creative and challenging in its own way.

How does Patrol XP compare to Double XP? 1.5X to 2X?

Don't they turn off Patrol XP during double XP weekends? So Double XP now just means an extra 0.5 XP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe 2XP does not apply to patrol experience. I'd have to Wiki or verify this on the forums though.

I took the time to look up the last 2XP weekends in Wiki, because the poster's question, while somewhat redundant, did have some legitimacy.

    Double XP Weekends
    21 July 2006 - 23 July 2006
    26 January 2007- 28 January 2007
    15 June 2007 - 17 June 2007
    8 February 2008 - 10 February 2008
    18 July 2008 - 20 July 2008
    23 January 2009 - 25 January 2009

Generally the trend was to have one early in the year and one in the middle of the year.

There may be something fighting against that this year though. The massive multi-levelling brouhaha of Mission Architect, Issue 15 being launched "soon" and just generally faster levelling speeds altogether.

As a previous poster added, they now need to know whether it applies to regular OR Architect Content or both. My bet is only regular missions. The Devs have been known to be crazy at times though, so 2XP in MA might happen.

Of course, I could also stumble upon Johnny Depp on my way downtown this week.
  20. Two questions:

1)When we will see the sked?

2)If Issue 15 goes live during the League, can we add "No Heal Decay" to the options?
  21. No thanks...not that I wouldn't like the bonus but you can storm STF/LRSF in 40-60 minutes. If Hamidon was the only way to get them, I'd say sure...but with STF/LRSF as well, not sure. :/

Like the buff idea, wary of STF/LRSF getting farmed for them.

So I rerolled MM then :P but I've had a change of heart, I went necro/dark. I just need to get some play-time now, my costume looks pathetic compared to others. Why don't they just give you all the parts at the beginning? =( I'm not sure about the villain side though, I'm lv 4 and no one has or wants to party that I met.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You get a LOT of costume pieces off the bat, certainly enough to make a nice look for yourself. While you can unlock more through gameplay, vet rewards and puchases...you should be fine.

I didn't catch your server, but if I were you I'd hunt for your server's global badge/team channel. For example BMT of Champion, Infinity Badges, PinnacleBagdes (?) and so on.
Also see about joining a supergroup...but be wary of any that make you grind for Prestige quotas.

What else, try sending tells to people:

"Level 4 doing missions, want to help out?"

Since most people are IN mission instances, they might not see your Broadcast.

The busiest servers are Freedom and Virtue, you should find a team there for sure.
  23. The PvP at this game is 'fine'. You can certainly have fun with it goofing off with your friends. There will always be those who kit out to the gills though, so bear that in mind.

There are two ways a hero and vill can team together. In Cimerora (run Ashley McKnight in Cap or Montague Castanella in Steel) or Rikti War Zone (Access through Cap, Grandville, St. Martial or Atlas, Founders' Falls and Peregrine Island). You'll both need to be level 35 though.

I suppose you COULD meet in PvP zones to zone smash stuff but you would only be contributing to individual and not team gains.

Where do YOU think most folks are going to spend their time?

    [/ QUOTE ]

While I agree with these points for the most part, especially Merit and Zone wise, I find myself playing MORE villains because of Architect. I can PL from 1-20 or 1-30 in notime flat, avoiding the content for the most part. From there, make sure I can get the Mayhems for badges and my Patron Arc. Use tickets for Bronze Rolls and the occasional Gold Roll, sell the proceeds and IO out my alt.

AE is actually going to make the decision a little harder. Overall though, the general slowness of the Black Market will influence my decision more, especially if I can cart my crap over with me.
