Quote:What I ask you, forum, is simple:
What unusual powerset combinations for any AT would you suggest to me that are capable enough in solo play and can be fun despite being typically 'unusual' or 'undesired' even?
Shoot, I was going to suggest a grav/TA controller based on the good teaming times I've had with mine lately...but solo'ing isn't his strong suit. -
-
that was a Threadless tee shirt design a while back.
Looks like they re-printed it- knock yourself out! -
random rolls are awesome, period. they keep me playing this game.
the more deterministic they make things in an effort to placate those who dislike uncertainty, the less happy I am. Merits, tickets, Amerits, drop balancing....the post-market history is a history of caving in to determinists.
Here's hoping this one time they ignore complaints and leave the system as is. -
Quote:The only people paying BUY NAO prices are the ones who can afford it.The only thing I want to comment on is the apparent dogma that being impatient is a sin to be punished. "Want it nao!" I probably take that meme from around this forum too seriously but it seems, to me at least, that is is a pejorative when used by most of the posters here. It places bricks in the wall separating people.
I'm (relatively) careful when I sell stuff so I don't have to care what I pay for the things I want (and can use spare billions to fuel the 88's furnace, lest Granny catch a chill).
Quote:This is a game, not real life. Some people only have so much time that they can devote to it and have to choose where they put their time. And no I am not saying everyone else lives in their Mom's basement or other stereotypes and therefore has no real life themselves. Can we just agree that players have differing amounts of time they can put into the game?
Which is a gigantic boon for my pure marketeering.
Nothing supercharges earnings like only being able to log in a few hours a month. The Long Game pays very well indeed. -
Quote:[sarcasm on] Of course this isnt driving up the price at all is it ? [sarcasm off]
I guess we should ignore this obvious example of a flipper causing the price of salvage to increase - or find some reason to discredit it as not really happening.
Cause we all know based on half concocted experiments and extensive BS propaganda done here on the market forums... that flippers could never possibly drive up the prices on items based on their actions. Right ?
ROFL
If you were as hilarious as you are uninformed this post would be a veritable LOL-ocaust. -
I haven't done the math, but "people say" that blowing all those amerits on one PvP recipe isn't your best return on investment.
but then again, with the drop bug shutting off the spigot now is certainly the time to strike! -
Quote:to a math illiterate like myself you might as well be Henri Poincaré.Ehhh. That's a comparison I don't think I'm especially deserving of. I think I'm usually pretty good at understanding the math and explaining to others, but except for the basic algebraic stuff like a time-to-defeat model, I have rarely come up with a (correct) model for parts of the game on my own. I mostly absorb what folks like Arcanaville, Stargazer or a few others figure out and then use it myself.

GM Grackle assures me I'll have my 3 billion back soon- hooray!
Mandur will be able to keep Granny toasty and my ar/dev will be that much closer to the ranged cap.
Startling Alt Discoveries: logged in a guy to do a day badge relocate and noticed he had a PvP recipe in his inventory, one of the melee ones. Being the sharp operator I am, I sprinted for the market, bought some salvage, crafted it and promptly sold it for 150m. Thank you, drop bug!
I don't remember what I paid for it, but it had to be a lowball bid because he can't slot it so it was pure speculation. -
Quote:calling out Uber and Arcana in the same thread? It's time for another "you're wrong" statement, so here it is for Arcanaville.
Even I've never managed that particular feat....GRATZ!
I'd issue preemptive wishes for a speedy recovery, but like a forum version of Monty Python's Black Knight you simply don't register damage that would cripple more reality based posters. -
kin is awesome on any team.
the only down side is that it's a very very busy set if you want to maximize its abilities. I don't log in one of my kins if I'm after a relaxing session.
But other than that, it's the cat's meow. -
Quote:I had 3 billion-ish inf go missing after the last patch. On the off chance they can't/won't fix it, I hit my favorite MA farm this morning. Now that you're getting into IO's, spend some time here on this forum, and read the multiple threads and guides about how non-farmers can go from zero INF to over a billion in a WEEK, crafting and selling for 15 or 20 minutes a day.
Capped the map in 10 minutes, rolled 'em all bronze 34-39, got 4 Reactive Armors that insta-sold for 100m, didn't even have to craft them. And that left 10 or so recipes that I could sell for 1-5m as is or craft and sell for 2-30m each.
Not to mention the bids I threw out on a couple of particularly lucrative recipes revealed during my researching, of the 'craft for 2m sell for 20' variety.
the inf is out there, just lying around on the ground. Anyone who cares to can fill up their bucket in no time. -

Turns out I had 3 billion gleemail inf 'disappeared' by the patch.
GM Kenie has kicked me up the chain of command- hopefully they find it! -

In response to my pal Talen's impassioned plea, I'll offer this tidbit of wealthbuilding advice:
you don't need to 'use' the market in any meaningful way to make a massive pile of loot. if you play, you'll generate drops. if you list all of those drops on the market for 1/2 to 3/4ths the "going rate" you'll sell them all and make a mint doing it.
And any sort of alternative currency you accumulate (merits, tickets, amerits, what have you) can be cashed in for recipes that are worth quite a bit on the market.
Last suggestion- for those who don't mind fouling their hands with the grime of honest labor, crafting a recipe can often generate genuinely ridiculous profits. -
Mandur's helping me out with the PvP IO situation, so that's a cool 2.5b for the furnace.
Once I'm done kitting out my fire tank I'll be back stoking the fires with my weekly billion. -
I was in basically the same boat as you, and got a ton of good advice in this thread.
The IO road hasn't gotten him back to his pre-ED prime, but it's definitely made him a lot more fun to play. -
Quote:start by pulling three slots out of stamina and putting them somewhere else, they're not doing you any good where they are. With 6 slots in Stamina, wasn't really sure what the best thing to put in there to get the best end recovery. I've heard mixed information.
I'll leave the Frankenslotting advice to the local specialists. -
Quote:Had to?The Inherent Fitness was a great idea, but to make up for it I've had to choose several powers of little use to me (or my teammates), none of which I can afford to run or slot.
Others have posted long lists of excellent pool powers that provide great utility with minimal or zero slotting.
Your complaint rings hollow. -
Quote:How do you figure? As it stands, non exploit using players receive moderately less rewards for running AE content.
I can run a "legit" MA farm map and cap out at 1500 tickets in less than ten minutes. It has been my experience over months of farming that rolling 1500 tickets worth of bronze recipe rolls in the 35-39 range will earn me between 50-100 million inf, assuming I take the time to craft 'the good stuff'.
Even if I were running "real" story arcs, or dev's choice or HOF stuff, the way tickets are structured would guarantee me far more loot-based profit than running comparable 'real' content, where drop potential is disseminated among a range of financially underperforming options (generic recipes, salvage, etc) rather than being concentrated where the big money is (set IO recipes).
MA's payoff is greater than the 'real' game by a huge margin, however you approach it. As long as you're doing something that earns tickets, you're out-performing anything the 'real' game has to offer. -

Quote:What Adeon said.Personally I find it works best against Council (or custom groups with similar enemies). It's not so much about enemies who are weak to S/L damage but enemies with a lack of ranged mezzes...
Quote:It's a combination of a couple of memes. Referring to MMO loot as "shiny things" is old and of indeterminate origin. He's combined this with the phrase "in your base, killing your dudes" from Starcraft.

Quote:Now is a great time to roll some recipes, I capped twice last night with my fire tank and made ~60m a run in instant sales, plus a handful of stuff I crafted and stuck in base storage for my alts to sell. Thanks for the offer. I don't want to derail the thread. BUT ( You know a but was coming ) I went off to read some of the stuff you and the rest of the crew have been posting on the market forum trying to get the concepts down. I think right now I might have 30k to 50k in tickets throughout my toons. So I should give some of that info a shot and see.
Quote:One thing is sure no matter how much we hate the AR Device combo, we still love the toons and the theme behind them. I hope they take a stab at improving Device some day.
Quote:I do have some questions.. Your running frankenslot build atm you said. How you doing 0/8 missions ? I honestly can't do that with my current build, it is an OLD build and might be lacking. I am hoping the new build will bring me some better odds.
So is it the mission your running. Is it design of your own or your just looking for weak or less resistant to Smash Lethal mobs ?
As long as I'm dealing with enemies who don't throw out a lot of mez it's smooth sailing. When you're mowing that many guys at a time the inspirations fall like rain. I keep a break free in my hip pocket and combine everything else into reds and purples and eat them like candy- at any given time I've got several purples and reds of various sizes applied. So, not much is hitting me and I'm pumping out a ridiculous amount of AoE damage. The minions usually go down from the first volley, then I pick off the lieutenants and bosses.
There's no way I could do 0/8 against stuff like Devouring Earth or Malta or Rikti with this build. But picking and choosing which enemies to fight it works really well.
